The artwork for these public health posters are fascinating. They evoke a similar style to early 20th century propaganda posters. I suspect one day they will find their place in museums or as collectors items!

I really like that style of artwork. In the 90's there were many examples of that style on walls in downtown Hà Nội to communicate about social dangers and ethics. I always wanted to see some showing basic hygiene like not eating blocks of ice that morons put directly on the dirty street to cut up... and messages like "please cut and clean your fingernails if you are a food handler". I might hire an artist to use that war style to help with a campaign against eating dog meat. lol

It's kind of a controversial subject in many countries , I think this kind of advertising works to an extent , interesting wording to linking with war, quite smart by the government. I know especially Saigon or HCMC was hit hard , hope everyone is safe and well over there.

Very interesting lesson, thank you Annie! But... wasn't there another war fought by VN AFTER 1975..? ;)

Yes, against Cambodia (and China briefly invaded then left Vietnam, but border skirmishes continued.) Officially ended in 1991, but most of the combat was in late 70s/early 80s then was mostly skirmishes after that until 1991. (I think Thailand got involved too, because Khmer Rouge would hide there to stage attacks.)

In America there is a very different approach. Since we are on the descending slope of all this, Local state governments pass mandates for who must get vaccines and ware mask. This causes lots of public debate and legal action concerning our freedom of choice.

We used your video in a New Zealand Year 11 ENGLISH class and students researched and collated examples from New Zealand: posters and media and article headlines (how can we share those with you?)

First of all, thank you, Annie, for your great work! I've been following u for a while, and your channel is just amazing! I don't know whether you're aware of it or not (maybe that's the very reason you made this video), but there's an excellent book on the relation between metaphors and everyday language named "Metaphors We Live By", by the american linguistic George Lakoff, if you don't know it, I'd really suggest you read it. (Oh by the way, I'm aware you've been studying Mandarin - at least, I've seen a video of yours on this topic - I'm a Mandarin teacher at Confucius Institute, if you ever need any help, please contact me, I'd be glad to help you. Regards from Brazil!
