No question, Avatar The Last Airbender was the greatest show to ever air on Nickelodeon, and The Legend Of Korra was also good despite having more problems. And to anyone whom argues Spongebob Squarepants is the greatest, it isn't but just gone on longer with Seasons 7 through 9 in particular having about 1 in every 4 episodes being bad.

I am so happy you included heat control in this list. So many people completely ignore it when talking about unique forms of bending despite some crazy implications that were never explored. Taken to an extreme level you could make ice with it by bending enough heat away, similarly you could cool/freeze pretty much any object(including people, bending their heat away from them to make them hypothermic). Being able to control heat is a massive ability that was truly never explored.

I'd think that moves like "Ice Ladder" "Ice Claws" "Ice stairs" and "Ice sled" should all be classified under a general water bender technique, something akin to "Ice Construction" for example

I just wanna say, I'm pretty sure azula cannot redirect lighting. I mean when Iroh is teaching zuko how to redirect it he literally says " I'll teach you a fire bending technique that even azula doesn't know, because I made it up myself"

to be fair, "bending" refers to the artful use. wan was not a _firebender_ untill he studied the form of the dancing dragon from a dragon, even though the lion turtle granted him the _use_ of the element, it was not untill the application of martial arts that he was able to surpass several other fire users at once, because they were not "bending" just "using". HelloFutureMe has a good video on this distinction.

I've seen that video, and it's mostly suggested as an attempt to reconcile the conflicting lores. Not LoK apologist, HelloFutureMe seemed unhappy with the changes and doing their best to preserve AtLA mythos without just ignoring the changes, mainly the lion-turtle stuff and explaining the avatar spirit.

I was always a fan of the forbidden blood bending I think we need a whole book and series on those particular benders but that’s just me
Every bending art has a spiritual sub-bending skill such as healing, spiritual projection and lightning, all except earth ending which makes sense since it’s style is based on strength, not spirituality
But that means theres not spiritual sub bending for earth meaning not every bending 💀
Lightning is less of a spiritual one,the fire divination in korra is closer to that role
Wait the kyoshi novels mention earth benders extending their lives with bending,they do have a spiritual ability

@@visual4482 Not possible. For an Earthbender to bend something, it has to be a mineral as the version that it is found in the ground. Calcium in bones is different than calcium found within the Earth. Glass is made of earth and is an imperfect refining process, which is why it is still possible to be bended.

I feel as though energy bending gives a possibility of an avatar that could eventually give non benders any of the four elements probably based on their natural affinity, and maybe an avatar that can take away a bending and give them a new bending like "oh you're a fire bender well bam now you're a water bender, whatcha gonna do about it?" hell maybe it gets so advanced that an avatar gains the ability to give people multiple bending, again maybe depends on their affinity and mental or spiritual ability, like for example I feel as if iroh had the opportunity he could bend at least 2 elements because of his knowledge of all the elements, but it could be a strain on the body which is why you would need to be such a powerful bender. but those are just my theory's
I imagine that it was the fusion of Raava and Wan that allowed him to bend multiple elements, because if I'm not mistaken, when Wan was learning the different bending forms he wasn't able to change between earth, water, fire and air until Raava passed through him, until Wan's battle with Vaatu where they became one and he now could use his entire arsenal.
Additionally, I think the Avatar may possess the ability to grant bending to a non-bender, using the same energy bending techniques the Lion turtles used however I don't think anyone but the Avatar will ever be able to bend more than one element.
Lol I like how you mention all the moves, these are emergent attacks created by creatives, anyone can do it if they were a bender of that element and they were proficient enough, air bender flight for example, this is a learned ability, from interpreting the words of the guru lahima, and meeting the prerequisites, this being losing all worldy possessions, or letting go of them, with the latter being much harder to achieve I imagine
They forgot to mention the time when aang's teacher happened to kill 15 firebenders by suffocating them when aang disappeared

I think "every bending move" would be a better title, cuz its more of a specific move than a completely new ability... you could say "the ability to..." but I don't think you would classify that kick from the end of karate kid as a new ability. You would describe it as a new move, and since bending is just magical eastern martial arts I don't think its a bad comparison to make

I think most firebenders can breathe fire when angry or frustrated, but not with any precision or control. Everytime someone does it besides Iroh (or an Avatar) it's when exasperated or yelling. I think Iroh's ability to do it at will and with control is what makes it special and how he got the nickname.

Earthbenders don't actually bend the metal, they're bending the earth riddled within it. However apparently some earth benders can bend pure metal elements like calcium which is how Avatar Kyoshi bone bended and prolonged her life so idk we'll have to wait for some answers.

Ok I have a question? When azula did the fire wall to escape everyone on slot attack how come toph didn't react fast enough to sense she was running away?

She can jetstep and avoid touching the ground like Aang did.
Maybe the explosion Azula created masked the vibrations in the earth of her running away making her invisible to Toph temporarily.

I dislike how LOK made psychic bending a thing, whereas every single other instance of bending requires movement, I also dislike the origin episodes as it ruins the idea of the Avatar being a purely balancing force cause now the Avatar basically has the "good" side, they also got rid of the previous lives, and they also made energy bending more of every other anime with beams

I still think that lightning bending should be an offshoot of air bending, I sorta (not really) understand why they chose to go with fire but technically lightning is caused by negative or positive ions in the air (can't recall which right now) reacting to the opposite in other objects on the surface

Fire is a weird thing to call an "element", as it isn't a material like the others. Essentially, it's the energy released when oxygen in the air reacts with various substances. Going by the rules of ATLA, fire bending is a kind of raw energy bending. Of course, water, air, and earth benders show awesome ability to manipulate the energy in their respective elements. But those are limited to kinetic energy and phase changes, while firebending seems to affect the chemistry (which involves electron movement, from, say, a metal to an oxygen atom). So, it is natural to put lightning bending under fire bending.

What is so bad about it? Korra has actually much more nice fighting scenes and also the story is very deep with all the spirituality. I mean I don't like korra as a character but the show is awesome. I don't get all the hate.

Conditioned to have everything given to her, and over the course of the show she punches through every challenge, with the only time she has an actual disability they skip over it, then the show isnt a good one. Its just inconsistent, and the "lessons" arent those, they're shallow stories
@@FittedSheet2000 But Aang was a little child who had no one to teach him properly other than Korra who had experienced people such like tenzin around her, so I think it's difficult to compare. And also Korra had hard times fighting the antagonists too and nearly lost completely at some point. I mean if u really analyse it, u could say that there is an inconsistency, but I really enjoyed watching anyways.

@@josh-jy3kd i can get enjoying it, but she seems extremely privileged, every Avatar has had to travel to learn, but she stayed where she was. Also Aang didnt learn fire cause he was scared of it. Korra didn't want to learn air cause she was too quick tempered to try. She also just *knew* how to trigger the avatar state at will, so she used it ALL THE TIME rather than when hundreds of people are in danger or when Aangs loved ones are at risk. She just uses it at every boss fight
On the water pollution filtering 31:12....there was an *actual* scene of that....why show Katara feeding Appa brown water (the soup) instead? haha

All 4 elemental bending can be used to fly.
Air - do I need to say?
Water - carry a ball of water with around a 5 metre diameter, just swim in this ball and lift it in the air with ur bending at same time.
Earth - lift a piece of rock into the air while your standing on it.
Fire - we've seen firebenders use it as a force of propulsion into the air like a jetpack.
If your a blood bender you can lift your target up into the air, so one should be able lift their own blood/body into the air and fly/levitate.
@@thewillofdreams6921 That would be crazy, bend the blood in your feet only to give yourself lift.
With earth and water, I don't think it's possible, it would be similar to trying to levitate by lifting a seat you're sat on.
Look benders literally lift people and packs of wolves into the air in dance/coordinated formation, they have blood and while possibly painful with practice should levitate or fly fine. Earth might do the gaara or oni style even though from different world but same theory.
