Loved the point about hitting it out of the trees Matt. Often wondered how sometimes I hit a better shot out from trees than I do on the fairway. Makes a lot of sense now. Cheers.
Credit where credit is due. Just come off the range and my god what a difference. I had already applied the slight weight lead on the left leg, and with a good shoulder angle turn to the top and feeling the bow of the wrist I was able to focus on the hands getting to the ball before the club head, and this gave me great contact with natural lag and the best ball striking that I've ever experienced. Thankyou Matt I'm so grateful keep up the good work.
Hi Matt, thanks! this is one of the best videos which teach us how not to top the ball, i.e. slightly shift the weight (55%) to the lead leg. I tried, and it worked very well. Effortless.... thanks a million!
Great video and instructions, I appreciate what your saying as I struggle with hitting shots off the back foot , after watching the video I believe I can correct this issue Thanks Matt
Brilliant but simple been doing all the bad shots fatting thinning slicing noticed a difference straight away by bowing my lead wrist therefore angling the club shaft! Keep up the good tips 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks brother I became a professional golf player because of u my family has u to thank .. I have built a legacy I have bought everything I ever wanted because of you brother stay safe love u man ..
Another great instructional video. One thing I do that helps me with proper shaft lean is invision my left hand (right handed golfer) hitting the back of the ball with the back of my hand at impact.
I’m the leaning back type person 🤣 I’ve only been playing for a month. The master of slicing drives right here. When I take my practice swings and I walk through all the steps I’m fine. Once I’m up and I take my swing it’s like everything I’ve learned and practiced is not there haha.
I find myself leaning back and have to correct it all the time. For my driving iron I do lean back a bit and it helps me propel the ball upwards and onwards. But when I'm doing mid irons I cannot lean back or I top the ball. All in all some days are better than others but I'm consistent and shooting under 50 every round of 9 hole at my local golf course. Easy.
Hi Matt - I loved the way you started this video showing what I do so (un)beautifully, ie how NOT to hit it. That made me laugh. From that point you had me hooked. Thanks for the great explanation and ONCE the weather eases up, I will definitely try this.
Great lesson. You have helped me to understand the weight shift better and swinging through the ball better. I will apply that 90/90 drill tomorrow morning at the driving range.
Hi Matt , great advice and nice simple instructions , I have been hitting some fat iron shots recently . I’ll give this a go next time I’m at the range.
I have an evolving list of 3 things I do before each shot, let's see if Matt has the same 3, thanks Matt. - wow first two were mine, my 3rd is keep my eye locked on the ball until after strike
Hi Matt, I appreciate the vids and am watching a lot of them, coming back to the game after a long break, they’re very useful, thanks. What might make them better and easier to help to visualise the shots, would be if you can shot the shots at reduced speed as well as normal speed. I don’t see any other coaches (your pals) do that in their vids either. Might be useful?
This morning, my only swing thought was to maintain my posture through the strike zone. I hit towering shots that I haven’t hit in months. Shot 74, and angry that the season is over.
It's going well. Had a couple wks at the range with it tried drill it in. Got out on the course sat shot a couple under my cap 👍 hopefully the more I work at it the more consistent I'll be. That 79 could be coming next year 😂
Matt Fryer Golf -am back to working on building up my foundations -been not well for a long time ,and as I have been trying to recuperate I have watched a lot of you boys playing in old and new vlogs and has inspired me to play a little again -after seeing the lovely courses and of course the banter yous have cheers me up ..thanks to you ,rick ,Matt ,Carter etc
One other thing is lean the shaft down don’t have it so vertical especially on short irons. If you watch pros their shaft really isn’t pointing towards the belt more towards higher mid thigh
@@Mattfryergolf I tend to struggle with my putting. I think it's mostly my grip. Can you recommend a putting grip that will promote less wrist in the stroke and enhance feel and distance control?
I need a left hip replacement so getting onto my left side sometimes subconsciously I won't do it. It hurts anyway might as well concentrate more on it
i’m about to give up :) for some reason i’ve picked up a hook, i just cannot get rid of it, hooks left most of the time any tips Matt to try iron it out ?
Check ball position not to far ahead and make sure you not swinging over the top ( have elbow go close to side and front of stomach on downswing). Good luck
There are loads, depends on if they have comps on but....... worsley is decent, davyhulme or delamere if you want a real class course but is a few quid more.
Lol . That purpose topping shows your club control .when your good at something its hard to do it bad. Reverse the way a bike steers . A dude did it. He could not even ride it at first ..
Clear, clean, easy to follow instructions. I watch this video a lot to remind me how to properly hit the irons. Thanks Matt !

True true

Really great stuff Matt, looking forward to trying this out on the range during next week. I hope it works!
Excellent instruction, Matt. I have been playing for several years and still struggle to hit my irons better. This video was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank You Sir, I’ve got it, now to retain, repeat!
Thanks brother I became a professional golf player because of u my family has u to thank .. I have built a legacy I have bought everything I ever wanted because of you brother stay safe love u man ..
Been struggling with irons as of lately
Will try to get back on track with this lesson
Tip #2 sounds good for me. Must remember this and try on the practice range. Thanks @Matt
Need to remember weight transfer. Thanks for the help
thanks for honest brilliant video , hoping to try this tomorrow as having lot of trouble hitting my irons, greetings from Ireland
Excellent presentation, thank you for your time posting this.
Just what I needed, thanks.explained simply so easy to follow
Thank you, Matt! I’m headed to practice with these tips right now! Stay tuned😂🏌🏽♀️

Hi Matt, Loved your 3 simple tips. I was having a problem with my lead hand being to far forward. Sorted out now. Thnx a mill....
Simple and easy to remember. From setup to follow through.
Excellent pure and simple to follow good Matt

Nice one! A great piece of advice for all us hackers. Keep up the good work. 🎉😊
I watched this before going out and saw instant improvement, and for once played better than handicap. Has given me back some confidence 👍

Hi Matt , great advice and nice simple instructions , I have been hitting some fat iron shots recently . I’ll give this a go next time I’m at the range.
Thanks for that Robert, let me know how it goes!
Great video Matt. A clear and concise explanation of the three key elements to good iron play. Cheers mate.
Thanks Louis? hopefully you can add them to your iron game and start crushing the irons!
Great video! Definitely going to use this tomorrow!
Will try it out at the range. Tomorrow
Awesome content! Thank you!
Thank you it was the best iron swing tips.
Great vlog Matt; top class stuff. You really have improved your content this year
Loving all of it
Cheers

Great tutorial Matt , thanks👍
Excellent instruction!! Thank you.
Super great tips
Good lesson, need to practice it 100 times
Great that helps for sure ! Thanks Matt :)
That was hilarious beginning
Great tip
Great video…thanks
Love that mate 👍❤️

Good tips
Easy to understand!
appreciated..thx it works

Very good. Thanks
how can you not get bored listening to this. Matt, you need to make it more exiting. Like, don't you enjoy golf?
Great lesson. I liked the chopping it out of the trees tip and knuckles pointing down towards the ball, so simple to do.
Really helpful for my swing as I think I'm leaning back to much
good lesson matt,
Also like to push my feet into the right side of my golf shoes and a little forward shaft lean at address helps the turn and get the feeling at impact
This is what I'm working on atm adding that bow into my left wrist getting that shaft forward 👍 gaining some yardage
good man how is it working out for you?
It's going well. Had a couple wks at the range with it tried drill it in. Got out on the course sat shot a couple under my cap 👍 hopefully the more I work at it the more consistent I'll be. That 79 could be coming next year 😂
Mat, as a high handicapper how do you purposely draw or fade a ball ? Do you change the club face angle at presnatationn
I'm going to give that a try on my next couple of visits to the range. I do struggle playing a divot after the ball. Cheers Matt
My pleasure Dave, follow those steps and you should get that crisp strike your looking for!!
great stuff matt, keep it up
Thanks
@Jesse Leo She's your girlfriend??? If so you've got a lot to learn about women.
Very simple to incorporate into ur swing
Hi Matt is that the same for the 3 4 5 irons as in weight distribution?
Matt...Have you been watching me swing again?... excellent lesson, thanks
Would it be fair to visualize it being like a block shot in cricket (at impact)?
Thank you!!!!!
Another great video Matt.
Thanks Andrew, more coming so make sure the bell is on!
How did you do that on purpose? Dude you are so good you can make mistakes on purpose! Totally Dailed In!!!
Can you explain "forward press" Do you recommend it? If so, what is the correct way to address with a "forward press"
Thank you
Amazing!
Thanks Matt keep up the good work
Cheers Kevin, what are you working on in your game at the moment?

Pissed myself with that shocker of a shot cause I am a newbie and do that way too often!
This Hat though Matt
What is a good tip to keep your head still when hitting a golf ball. Is there a drill?
Have to ask - How many tries did it take to hit that top for the video?
One other thing is lean the shaft down don’t have it so vertical especially on short irons. If you watch pros their shaft really isn’t pointing towards the belt more towards higher mid thigh
Can you provide a drill for weight transfer
Great tips. Especially fancy the 55% on lead side as address.
Thanks randy, what else would you like to see on the channel?
@@Mattfryergolf I tend to struggle with my putting. I think it's mostly my grip. Can you recommend a putting grip that will promote less wrist in the stroke and enhance feel and distance control?
Brilliant video
Thanks Tony, which part do you think will help you the most?
@@Mattfryergolf - Swaying off the ball when rotating. I am working hard on trying to do that!
REMEBER? at 10:27. Enjoyed the video though; I must try to REMEMBER to do this next time out. Thanks.
My spelling got me again! Useless at that. Glad you enjoyed the video despite that
@@Mattfryergolf I did enjoy it and have watched it a couple of more times to drum it into my ancient brain before playing today.
Thanks Matt, 37 points today and I won because I was thinking of your video which I viewed again before going out.
S Misson that’s awesome well done 🙌🏼🏆🏆
Nice one Matt
Thanks Gary, have you got all 3 components in your swing?
Not yet but I will work on it
I liked the tips. It looks like you hold off tour wrist rotation until after contact. Am I correct? Thanks
The lead wrist is rotating into impact to square the face up 👍
I'm working on the one thing that wasnt mentioned....hip turn
I need a left hip replacement so getting onto my left side sometimes subconsciously I won't do it. It hurts anyway might as well concentrate more on it
Wish small talks but
show us how to do in motion(hitting ball) the most.
i’m about to give up :) for some reason i’ve picked up a hook, i just cannot get rid of it, hooks left most of the time any tips Matt to try iron it out ?
do everything he's doing, just straighten your swing path towards your target, and not full around to the left.
Check ball position not to far ahead and make sure you not swinging over the top ( have elbow go close to side and front of stomach on downswing). Good luck
Great lesson! I'm up in Manchester at the weekend. Can you recommend a course to play
There are loads, depends on if they have comps on but....... worsley is decent, davyhulme or delamere if you want a real class course but is a few quid more.
Stockport quality in Manchester area ⛳
@@golfbreak8081 thanks
Händ,s forword from the Ball at impact
yep get them leading the clubhead in not the other way around.
Back foot will naturally come off the ground if you get it right
Is that an iPad in your pocket or are you just happy to be golfing?
just happy pal
Lol . That purpose topping shows your club control .when your good at something its hard to do it bad. Reverse the way a bike steers . A dude did it. He could not even ride it at first ..
I’m thinkn if ya got it, ya got if ya don’t ya don’t golf makes a lot of money on suckers
Takes a long time to get to the points
Kinda milking us with those long adds Matt no skip after 5 seconds on those
I'm not good with irons, and have hybrids from 7 up. Why can I hit good hybrid shots but poor iron shots?
the design of the club makes it easier to launch and a slightly more forgiving. If they are working stick with them!
@@Mattfryergolf Thanks. I plan to! Thankfully short irons and my new Cleveland wedges are working well.
Peter Molyneux me too. I don’t get any further than 110 yards with my 7-iron. My gab-wedge around 50 yards. Getting way higher than forwards.
Get the lean and shift forwards and you'll see better flights 👍
It’s just obvious stuff really. But things you don’t think about.
I've been researching how to play golf better and found a great resource at Gavs Golf Tactic (google it if you're interested)
Imagine being good enough to top a ball on demand lol. Christ.
