People need to remember that prior to getting caught in that kneebar, Brock was dominating Frank. Kind of surprised to hear that Matt Hughes who was a D1 All American himself was so dismissive of someone who did much better than he did. Brock was in the finals in back to back years, competing in the best conference for wrestling in the B10.
Matt Hughes was famous for being a dick, not surprised. Obvs tragic what happened to him tho
I think Brock fought so hard bc he wanted to prove he could do it but instead of being patient with a submission artist like frank he went full blast into a leg hold . The second fight frank took a beating.
Second only to the whuppin he took off Shane Carwin 😳
@@arnoldjenkins5455 and then he ran outta gas....

HE ko'd Cro Cop but that fight was really bad.
That KO loss to Carwin was fuckin' rough.
I've always said Brock Lesnar's back is insane
Back Lesnar
And his boobs
He's also got long arms and big goddamn hands!
@@alexanderwagner4587 I remember Rogan referring to Brocks hands as lunch boxes during one of the Brock VS Mir fights, I always crack up when I hear it.
Frank is so well-spoken and humble. It is always a pleasure to see his interviews. A great ambassador of the sport.
Man, glad to hear him mention Stephen Neal. That dude was an absolute monster. He was signed by the NE Patriots in 01 as an undrafted free agent and won 3 Super Bowl rings playing right guard. He’s only one of a handful of people to ever win a ring without ever playing college football.
he only won 1 ring.
@@PringlesCan-y7m from the national wrestling HOF website:
“Stephen Neal won three Super Bowl rings as an offensive lineman for the New England Patriots, but it was his wrestling career that paved the way.”
He was on the roster for the 01, 03, and 04 Super Bowl Champion NE Patriots teams (although in 03 he was injured for the season and was on an injured exclusive rights free agent deal and didn’t sign his tender until after camp began, and did not count against the roster limit). He won 3 rings.
It makes so much sense now why Brock left WWE to play football. Funny he never mentioned this guy in his book 'Death Clutch'.
@@Yeswewillreplaceyou From his signing in 2001 until the start of the 2004 season, Neal was on injured reserve or inactive all but 2 games which the patriots lost both games, Neal only started one of those games and didnt play much because he got hurt again. He wasnt even on the patriots roster for 2003 even as inactive. He came back in 2004 season and won the superbowl against the Eagles. 1 ring. He never won another as we all know what happened in 2007 and he retired in 2010. He played in 2 superbowls during his career. 1 win, 1 loss. The term "rings" is a bit of a joke these days, as there's no standards and teams hand them out to friends and family pretty much. They generally give away 200+. And no player with any sense of pride will claim the deserve one when they didnt even put on a uniform the entire season. Steve Neal has one ring. He beat the Eagles. Well deserved.
@@PringlesCan-y7m Fortunately for him the Patriots disagree with you. He won 3 rings because he's still with the team (whether you're active on the roster or not most teams just give you the ring in most sports teams). Why give him the ring? He's a Patriots player. Rings are given to players who are in some form or capacity on the team, injured, bench riding, active inactive, that's been the norm for years. Fans can argue the player didn't earn the rights to a ring but thankfully they don't, that call for the players is for the organization to make.
I love Frank the guy was a legit one he was the only one to ko and submit the great Minotauro Nogueira

@StayHungryTwistedSis Yes the entrance was loud but was a great evening.
Should've seen Shane Carwin. Even thicker head to toe than Lesnar. Rogan talked about this. Blew it against Lesnar. Lesnar wanted no part of him once Carwin laid a hand on him.
I always thought Brock (and by proxy frank) got weird hate about Brock being a pro wrestler. Like frank said he wasn’t an actor he was one of the best heavyweight amateur wrestlers alive in his prime. No shame in losing to that at all.
Frank was dissing his credentials back then. You might say it was all mind-games but that does not change isht.
@@jaromor8808 yea. sometimes dudes bury themselves shit talking.
Always refreshing to see competitors just give credit when it’s due
Frank stayed in the game longer than he should have.
Ko'd too many times. His brain will punish him for that later in life.
Yeah in his early days he was able talk normally , he stutters and skips words quite a lot in his interviews now
It's called getting older
he started to try to become a puncher i think maybe due to the accident and loss of flexibility, but he was a monster grappler in his day
Frank looked like Joseph Merrick after that 2nd fight!
Must of felt like being drowned stuck under that version of Brock! 😬
I had no idea Frank Mir was so articulate. Hes a savage in the ring... but a gentleman outside it. Liked his comments on Lesnar... who I also wasnt aware was a legitimate wrestler until well into his MMA career.
Is it just me or the guy talking to frank dude looks like wwe legend own hart god rest his soul R.I.P 🙏💯
That 2nd Lesnar/Mir fight to this day remains one of the most dominant one-sided beat downs in MMA history.
Just look at the punch stats, and then look at Mir's face. Yikes
thats what steriods do man. was definitely insane. Even right after the fight when Frank got up Brock got right in his face screaming at him!!

Honesty, in an alternate universe it'd be so interesting to see how Kurt Angle would have faired in MMA.
The guy that got me into MMA. Frank is a legend🙏
Frank is not lying. I saw Brock in passing and I had the same thing going through my mind. You just don't understand how massive he is until you see him in person.
Humble good interview from Frank. I like him more now. 👊🏻
I have always thought the same about Kurt. That guy was a gild medalist wrestler that didnt cut weigh to fight smaller guys. He wrestled bigger guys and even in football Kurt was a moster linebacker in highschool and could have done it in college but decided to focus on the Olympics. If kurt trained MMA he would have destroyed alot of people especially in the late 90's to mid 2000s when he was still going hard and hadn't broke his kneck another 4 times.
His combine numbers were off the chart aswell in the NFL check those out he had some kind of test tube level results
Serious props to frank Mir, I wasn't expecting this or him to be as analytical as he was here
I was going for Mir all the way. Glad he went 1-1.
I love Frank mir, he played the villain but after his fights with most opponents he shows genuine respect and concern
Matt Hughes subtlety f kcuing with Mir
Frank gives credit where credit is due very clearly a class act
Is it me or does frank mir progressively look more and more like a Greek mythology Minotaur as he ages? Guys a legend and a brilliant mind regardless.
If Brock Lesnar didn’t know how to fight, his strength and size alone would be enough to at least clinch and hold a person to make them ineffective for almost a round
Frank was a absolute machine before his accident and even after some of the nastiest finishes.. I have seen him snap so many peoples limbs..
No one counted Frank out the first fight. They counted Brock out not mir
Frank is fun to listen to.
would love to see frank and brock have a regular conversation one day
Frank mir is a legend and an absolute stud.
Let's not forget, Mir got lucky in the first Lesnar fight, then talked A LOT of smack after the fight. The dude got what he deserved.
Good for paddy for pursuing plan B. Build yourself as a legit personality. That way when main card spots end you’ll have a easy way to collect some cash. Smart guy.
I’ve never seen anyone before or since, move as fast as Lesner did while on the ground.
That’s funny coming from Matt Hughes
The most down to earth fighter, Frank is a good guy.
Brock was a specimen!
Fun fact: After a long night of drinking, everything Paddy says sounds coherent.
Car batteries for hands is always something to fear.
Hmmm...Never through of it like that about kurt Angle. He's one of my favorite Wrestlers but just thinking about him in his prime doing MMA I think he wouldve done very well.
Ive never seen a heavyweight move as quick as Brock
It's so true. Me and all my dumb teenage friends thought it was an MMA fighter vs a fake wrestler guy. Sucks for Mir at the time, but I think we all know by now that it was as legit as it gets.. What a legend Mir is.
Franks hands are enormous
Yeah Brock is a one of a kind Monster
And to think as big as Brock is Brian Shaw is almost two 2 of him at 6'8" and 465lbs lean weight. Idk know what he gets up to bulking..
HGH really changed his head
Paddy The Faddy Pimblett
I hate the disrespect that pro wrestlers get. There aren't many legit badasses around today, but quite a few of the pro wrestlers from 30 and 40 years ago would eaten these MMA guys alive. Literally. Haku alone would have left them all laying in a puddle of their own blood and piss.
Frank mir respect Brock and I think Brock respect you frank
Kurt Engle was better and proved it against Brock. If they paid him enough he would have been the heavyweight goat with a weight limit. I’m against a weight limit for heavyweight though.
Frank got him but boy did he ever pay for it 😂😂😂😂
This is what makes Cain Velasquez sooooooo impressive‼️ Cain destroyed Brock Lesnar.....Man handled him like he was a middleweight ‼️ Cain was on the same level of wrestling as Brock. Cain is not a small guy, either. 6"1 about 240-245 lbs. But Brock had about 20-25 lbs on Cain. 👀 --> ruclips.net/video/ndkrobQ81MU/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I mean he did become champ.
Brock had a couple of Coors Light and went on top of his wife after the second Mir fight.
No one that big, that moves that good, wrestled at the highest level is a joke. Doesnt matter what "job" they have at the time.
These days, waist down is all that matters.
DUde brock and lesnar , would of been in the UFC , had WWF not existed . THe reason they never joined was 2k per fight vs 200k per year with WWF . ITs all about money my friends. everyone thinks people are afraid . um no there is more fear in not paying your RENT than caring what you think.

Gotta give Brock credit for taking on a killer like Mir that first time. Lesnar learned a lot from it

I love the Respect Frank Mir. Gives towards Brock Lesnar here. That’s everything. Even the little insights on Kurt Angle was cool. I’ve always believed Kurt. Would have been an absolute killer in Mixed Martial Arts/UFC.
I agree, I think Kurt would have been like a khabib in wrestling and far more dominant at heavyweight than lesnar was. There are not that many good wrestlers in the HW division, it would have been interesting that’s for sure
Well would you downplay a guy who beat your ass? Nah you want to build them up as much as you can so you don’t look as bad.
Well it’s well documented from wrestlers backstage that angle could deal with brock
@@justjarvis106 Yeah, but that was prior to Brock undergoing MMA training, he made his arsenal move deadly.

Mir needs to be on the MMA broadcasting team. The dude is full of wisdom, logic, EQ and honestly, a very articulated narrator.
He used to be during the WEC days and was excellent.
Hear hear
Frank was actually my favourite mma foghter when I started watching. If he was never in that bike crash he would have dominated for awhile.
He was still great but that crash really took away his mobility, no guy aside from maybe Big Nog had that level BJJ at that size
Hot take: if that crash didn't happen, Frank would've had the most title defenses and would be in consideration for heavyweight GOAT.
Yeah... Heavyweight champion at 25, he would surely have gone on a great run and would have been one of the best to ever do it...
Actually other heavyweights were getting better in jiu jitsu so frank would have still lost.
I would write my own reply but, you nailed it man. Same everything here dude. Bike crash just..... mean the mental strength to belive in yourself is tougher then it gets credit for but... on top of the physical injuires... Just glad he talks soooo well and is very entertaining. Hope he continues to be involved in the sport!! Have a great day
Frank Mir- the most well rounded, highly skilled heavyweight in history. Started as pure jiujitsu guy and ended up knocking out top heavyweights during his prime. Derailed mid career by a motorcycle crash, came back (eventually) better than ever. Not the toughest ever, not the best ever, but one of the most highly skilled, well rounded heavyweights in history.
His chin went out on him after he fought Brock & Carwin. I remember he had a glass jaw after those two fights.
I would definitely say Fedor is the most well rounded heavyweights.
But prime Mir was incredible!
Wasnt given the credit…pfft frank you didnt give brock any credit back then
Even if you discount Brock as some WWE fake, you don't see guys that size moving the way he does. And the endurance of doing a 20+ minute match at 300lbs is not something to sneeze at either. But a freak in terms of size AND speed. He just needed more a striking background of 5 years or more.
If Brock had gotten into mma straight out of college he may of seriously been in contention for greatest hw of all time if not greatest mma fighter all time. The athleticism of that dude in his early WWE days was absurd for how big he was. People just want to bash him with no context and while not truly understanding that he joined the ufc with nothing but a wrestling background and a few years of training at 30 years old and still became champ.
He's was at the upper echelons of strength and speed in the HW division, that paired with an extreme level of toughness and an elite wrestling pedigree.. that fight is brutal.
Brock wasnt tough. I mean he can take pain obviously but he wasnt used to beeing punched for real. It was his biggest weakness (and his fked up organs). He usually reacted pretty bad when someone landed a clean shot and often just shelled up and turned away.
“Who’s not the most physically incapable human being” is the understatement of the year 💀
Brock's speed when he has someone on the ground and he's floating over them transitioning is still one of the wildest things I've seen from a human - 280lbs moving like he's not just 180lbs, but a QUICK 180 too lol. Just CRAZY that a human body that big can move THAT quick.
@@RyTrapp0 That's just god gifted ability..There's plenty of other guys his size that are on PED's that don't move nearly as fast as Brock..
He looked like a cabbage patch kid after the second fight!!! Sorry frank luv ya bro.
To see kurt in his prime inside a MMA ring would be fucking godly

Always liked Frank. Absolute beast of a fighter in his day but always spoke well in interviews too. Seemed like a genuinely decent bloke in the old Fight Week stuff as well.
Never count Frank out.
Anybody who thought fighting Brock would be easy was ridiculous. Even if they didnt know about his NCAA background. His WWE performances were FAR from average. You can't fake his strength, speed and athleticism. 300+ pounds, jumping halfway across the ring doing a shooting star press is INSANE!
Steroids are a hell of a drug
@@petermallon8262 true but let's be clear. Brock off steroids would still be a specimen compared to most people ON steroids. He was a unit to begin with, steroids helped him get even more so.
Ofcourse
He is a steroid freak cheater😂😂😂
@@petermallon8262sure, however, if you took steroid you would just be a big bit of tits.
@@shoakimoto2517 Indeed, giant hands, giant wrists, huge muscle insertions, etc. Even his head is huge. If Brock were natural, he wouldn't be as big but he's still be an absolute unit and easily 220+ lean.
I watched all the prefight footage back then, including Frank Mir interviews, and he didn't talk like that about Brock Lesnar back then.
He didn't talk like Brock was a walk in the park either, but he definitely underestimated him, before the 1st fight and before the 2nd fight too.
That's why Frank wanted a third fight BADLY... He even gained weight in order to be harder for Brock to control (I don't think that would have worked though)
It was after the 2nd fight when Frank realized what a force of nature Brock Lesnar was.
I didn't see their second fight but that first that veey first punch that Brock hit Frank with put him on his but and Frank had the look of "holy crap this dude is strong." So I just think Frank realized after that first fight that Brock was no joke and gave him his due regardless of how the fight turned out.
@@donovanbradford8231 Brock didn't put Frank down with a punch, it was a takedown.
You're talking about Brock's fight against Heath Herring.
Mir himself was mocking Lesnar's status as a pro wrestler leading up to their rematch, when Brock caved his face in
YES HE WAS
.BROCK TOOK THE HORSESHOE OUT OF HIS AZZ THOUGH 😅😅
100% he was. Maybe that was just show boating on Franks part I I 100% think he didn’t take Brock seriously after that first fight and got his face smashed in. The funniest part is Brock was dominating him in that first fight till the ref saved him and stood them up.
Brock did more damage than the motorcycle accident 😂
FACT😂
No, he really didn't.
Fra k mir only started talking about lesnar being legit comeption after he got humbled
And after he stopped getting paid to play a character to promote the sport.
Brock was legitimately a 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion. Not 2nd place, not 3rd, FIRST. The guy was a monster.
Poor Frank got beat into hamburger helper the second fight.
I think it bothers Frank that on the ground he was helpless against Brock. Sure stand up would belong to Frank, but no way it was going to not go on the ground. Yes, Frank won the first but he was beaten bad in both fights by a "WWE guy".
It probably does to some degree but it completely validates Brock's wrestling which is what he was trying to tell Matt about. Brock showed what tremendous size and strength combined with a top level wrestling pedigree can do.

Had they not rushed everything with Brock, rushing him into the UFC and if he had Jiu-jitsu training and worked hard on his stand up, dude... Brock would've been at the top for awhile I think. He was already a monster Wrestler that would rush you and pin you in a spot, smash you with his lunchbox fists.
BROCK ALWAYS HUNGRY!!!
Agreed. Had he gained half the skill in stand up as he had wrestling, the man would've been unstoppable.
I don't think so. Steroids aside, he beat a few guys who were historically bad at defending off of their back (Hunt, Mir, and Herring), he beat Randy Couture after Randy had been out for a year, and Shane Carwin was handling him pretty easily before he gassed badly. Credit to him for getting through those guys with limited experience, but the true, top tier guys he fought like Velasquez and Overeem walked through him with no problem. I estimate that dos Santos, Werdum, Cormier, and those types of guys would have always been out of his league.
@@christophertondro3351 I can agree with that. He was terrified of overeem and I think Cormier would have definitely been a hard fight for Lesnar.
