The little nuances in your playing really set it apart, the pick attack, the vibrato, and the dynamics are all right there. Obviously well studied and you have a great ear.
Ted Nugent is a criminally underrated guitarist and sadly is almost never mentioned when the greatest guitarists lists are published. Great take on this classic Uncle Ted tune! Love this project. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic soloing, looking forward to catching up with your videos. I remember going into a record store 40+ years ago to buy a Blue Oyster Cult album, the girl working at the counter said listen to this, she put on Stranglehold, so I walked out with the Ted Nugent album instead. Saw him live twice here in the UK, my ears have never been the same since :)
I'm commenting in the hopes of winning the guitar. But I want to add that I think it's super cool you're doing work to set-up and upgrade the guitar for whoever ends up winning it. I feel like a lot of people wouldn't care that much, and just ship whatever guitar out as-is. For someone who's still learning about guitar like me (I've been borrowing a friend's to learn), it'd be reassuring to know you're getting a guitar that someone already made sure plays well. I know that I don't know enough about guitars to immediately recognize problems on my own - and I'm sure I'm not the only one!! So, kudos to you for putting in the extra work :)
Oh my god, a girl! Hahaha. My RUclips view demographic is currently sitting at 98.6 % male. Not the looker I used to be, but I seriously have to do something to turn those numbers around, haha. Thank you very much for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I'm actually going to do a video in the next few days on the upgrade process of this guitar for those who don't know how to do such a thing as change a nut and tuners.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wow, I just stumbled across this gem of a solo. I was a big Ted Nugent fan in my youth. And I know this song very well… double live gonzo!. Incredible performance. KDA
We are Short Door the company Kelly mentioned in the video. Been fans since the first videos in this series. We hear the feedback and will work on prizes that are easier to ship overseas in the future! If you are interested in other music and gear giveaways follow us on twitter @shortdoor.
Hey KDA, awesome job on this and the MANY other great videos you've shared...but also for sharing a bit of your back story--inspiring and thankful that you found your way back. You are truly gifted as a player AND a teacher!
I have loved watching this series. I started following your stuff after your built the guitar for your daughter and have been wowed by what you have accomplished. Great job Kelly. Keep doing what your doing. Blessings and love!
I found your videos on Reddit, I've loved keeping up as you move through the list. Keep up the great work. Id love the guitar if I win it, but good luck to everyone!
I can't get over how fast you learn these and how perfectly you play them. The company you're partnering with shouldn't have too much trouble promoting you - they've got killer material to work with.
Sharp looking guitar that also sounds awesome! You are going to make somebody very happy! Glad to have stumbled upon your channel and wish you much success!
Whoa, you proved just how well that VE can sound when played properly. Heh, talked to the Short Door peeps on Twitter yesterday having a little fun about learning guitar. Pretty cool that they are a local company here, have to keep them in my list of companies to potentially work with in the future. Thanks!
I've been enjoying your work and am always looking for the next video to pop up. Glad to see that you found your way again after a long dark period and are now sharing your talent with the rest of us. Now, I'm all about the swag!! Where's the free guitar?!?!
Nice job, been watching these videos since I found you on Reddit way back near the beginning. Really enjoy the journey and especially the commentary after. Thanks!
I’ve been following on r/guitar since the beginning of this challenge. Great idea and great execution. I hope this contest helps you achieve the reach you’re looking for!
This is great! I enjoy watching your videos it is very inspiring to see an upcoming RUclipsr starting from the bottom. I was gifted my first guitar recently but it was an acoustic. I am hoping that this beautiful guitar will be my first electric! I have invested so much time into my acoustic and I want to experience the awesome sounds of this guitar for myself.
Thanks Jace. It's fun watching this little thing grow. I'm having a blast with it. Getting more comfortable with it. Was terribly nerve wracking at first.
Love to be able to learn this solo! Yes, you would just have to be in the right mood to listen to Ted's music maybe after a few beverages. I still enjoy his song, Fred Bear. Awesome lesson at the end of the video, thanks and thanks Short Door Media!
Your videos are really great. I especially liked the Sweet Jane intro lesson. I'd been wanting to learn that since I first heard it decades ago. Just beautiful. Thanks.
Thank you for posting this, I can now learn this solo, I’ve already learned the first one that turns back into the famous riff but now I can actually learn the whole thing!
This was amazing. Not only is this my favorite solo of all time, but this is one of the best RUclips covers I’ve ever seen. There are parts where I couldn’t even tell if it was you playing or if it was just the album.
I always look forward to the a new solo when they're posted and now a chance at free stuff...Awesome!! Great job on the top 100, most of it is the soundtrack to my youth.
Hello. Just want to say that i did find your channel through an ad from short door media but what drag me in was the bending you were doing during the ad, for me is one of those techniques you need to practice all the time... thats some good playing plus the history lessons i always like and discovering players like Nugent. Thank you again.
My bending of notes has come a long way in the past two years. I've worked on it hard. Getting that note to pitch has to become second nature and ingrained in your playing. A badly bent note to my ear is worse than a wrong note.
I've been listening since the beginning and can't believe that I haven't hit subscribe yet. This was the easiest RUclips subscription that I have ever done. Great stuff!
Been getting more into King Crimson since watching your video on 21st Century Schizoid Man. Really enjoy hearing the story of the song/solo after each one. Looking forward to the top 30!
Looks good and sound s great , loved Ted since I was 12, dig playing cat scratch fever ,& you're a great soloist, would not mind spanking a les my self...🤗🤗🤗🤗😂😆🤗🤗😂
Your videos are great inspiration not only musically (I've discovered so many great songs listening to you) but also help keep me committed to my own playing. I'd love to win that guitar but i hope whoever gets it appreciates what you've done here
🖐🖐🖐 Hello!!!! I’ve been subbed for a year or so. Glad to see you partner up with folks and still enjoying the side talk after the great solos. I’m in for an entry! 🎸🎸🎸
I'm loving this series Kelly. Absolutely love it. The challenge, and seeing your dedication helps keeps me motivated to keep practicing more and more. I'm in Oz, so no need to consider me for the guitar. Just keep at it!
Loving this series, and great job on the solo. As a beginner with only an acoustic it would be awesome to win, but win or loose I’m excited to hear the solos to come. Thank you.
The little nuances in your playing really set it apart, the pick attack, the vibrato, and the dynamics are all right there. Obviously well studied and you have a great ear.
I am not Ted Nugent but I approve of this solo.
not only are you a great guitarist...you have an incredible memory to be able to remember all the licks in these songs and the sequence...
Yeah, this one's a bitch to remember all the way through in one take.
Found you via r/Guitar
I love the format of top 100 solos
Free guitar!
Wicked guitar playing! Always impressed with how accurately you capture the original artist’s playing
Ted Nugent is a criminally underrated guitarist and sadly is almost never mentioned when the greatest guitarists lists are published. Great take on this classic Uncle Ted tune! Love this project. Keep up the great work.
Im so totally gonna learn this song it sounds sick.
DUDE! You freakin killed that solo. After I get Cortez The Killer down, this is my next one to learn. Great job.
Thanks David! Stranglehold is an amazing solo. Good luck.
Your also such an incredible guitar player and I really love the style you play with.
Fantastic soloing, looking forward to catching up with your videos. I remember going into a record store 40+ years ago to buy a Blue Oyster Cult album, the girl working at the counter said listen to this, she put on Stranglehold, so I walked out with the Ted Nugent album instead. Awesome guitar! I would love to take that baby on stage with my band!
Love your videos!
Nicely done. You had the tone dialed in perfect.
That was killer man. Nice job on the two string bends. Nailed them!
Kelly Dean always makes the best solos regardless. You are killing it!
Thanks for doing this, I look forward to each new release!

I have loved watching this series. I started following your stuff after your built the guitar for your daughter and have been wowed by what you have accomplished. Great job Kelly. Keep doing what your doing. Blessings and love!

Kool! I've always been fascinated by the intricacies of the Stranglehold solo, so I thoroughly enjoyed watching your cover.
Thanks dude! Yeah, it's a killer solo. Thoroughly enjoyed learning and playing it.
Sharp looking guitar that also sounds awesome! You are going to make somebody very happy! Glad to have stumbled upon your channel and wish you much success!
Been watching you since #88 or so - keep up the good work - its inspiring me to get out of my comfort zone and expand my own playing!
Hey Kelly - great Video. Been watching since the start. Would be awesome to have that guitar. I'm in Atlantic Canada. Keep up the great work!!!
