- The Western Conference Finals between the Chicago Wolves (Vegas Golden Knights) and San Diego Gulls (Anaheim Ducks) played game 5 of their series in San Diego on 5/25/2019.
One of the more interesting players to appear in this series from a prospect standpoint is Cody Glass. And he made an impact right away in this game, burying a loose puck to put his team up 2-1 in their eventual win in the contest.
Glass (b. 1999) was the 6th overall pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft by the then expansion Vegas Golden Knights, and therefore became their first ever draft choice and future face of the franchise.
Due to the fact that Vegas has actually been good, his services have not been needed and he has stayed in junior hockey (WHL) since being drafted. However late this year Vegas assigned him to the Chicago Wolves and he has now played a handful of games in the AHL, including the postseason.
In 2019-20 he will probably be an early Calder contender and will look to join fellow top 10 draft-mates (and already NHL All Stars) Elias Petersson and Miro Heiskanen as the next batch of young guns in the NHL. He looks like an updated version of Jason Spezza and I'm sure he'll have some good talent surrounding him in Las Vegas.
