    i agree it deserves to win because the best effects are the ones that you don't even notice or think as effects. this film achieves that level of realism, your mind is completely sold and your can engage on an emotional level, without going " that a nice cgi effect, oohh, look at that one etc" you really feel like you are in space with the astronauts and the moon sequence is perfectly convincing.

    I love in camera effects so much. The use of rear projection in Oblivion, or in this case the giant led screens and model work.

    Infinity War should've won the oscar for best VFX

    I wish more movies took this kind of approach, instead of using 100% CGI for the 1st resort, the 2nd resort, last resort and if it's completely impossible to do what they want with CGI, build a team of 3D artists to figure out how to make it possible. Newest isn't always best. In fact, techniques that have had time to mature, are often best.

    The problem isn't always about planning in preproduction, it's also about the budget of the movie. Usually, it'll take a lot of money to build such sets and make miniature shots of that level but if anyone can do it then the result is this movie.

    Am I the only one who thought literally any of the other nominees should have won? I admit the visual effects of first man were impressive but they also make up less than 45 minutes of the movie while every other nominee had hours worth of incredible visual effects each

      @MythicalSalmon but it really isnt the best work. Infinity war had some damn photorealistic cgi effects like thanos or robert downey junior

      Can't really recommend any books. I would suggest getting the software of your choice and experimenting. Perhaps try getting involved in some indy movie. Or try one of the VFX schools.

      Nick Zardiashvili Lol. Its not hes voice. He uses some voice generator which is on amazon to generate robotic-like voice and tells what to speak.

      I've never said, that the use od VFX is minimal in First Man. I said the use of CGI is minimal. That's a difference.

      Yes, but that's background. The foreground elements, like space crafts, were practical. The typical approach would be to make everything CGI.

    • @xo0o0
      @xo0o0 5 лет назад +1

      That was a pure CGI display, First man deserved more tbh because of photorealism and more camera work VFX as explained in this video, I watched it in an IMAX theatre and my friend! it was a visual treat. But, I do get it why you would want Aquaman to win, it deserved a nomination for sure and was a visually beautiful movie.

  • @DarthHater100

    The only reason they won was bc First Man is a boring drama, and the academy needs to artificially elevate the movie's relevance by giving it an award.

      Editing and Vfx are done right when you don't know that you're looking at Cgi. It was the case for First Man, not for purple Homer simpson/josh brolin.

      I just have one question for you bro. How do you plan on making it's unnoticeable in a title like this? I personally think it should be noticable since it's an Superhero movie.

    • @majorleaguejams8416

      @@timothysamuel6043 Its also the techniques used that are considered when picking the winner, I loved Infinity War's VFX but it didn't bring anything new in terms of how they did their effects. It was literally all just CGi and motion capture. Things that are basic in every VFX heavy movie
