    The VR4 has been my dream car since I was 11. I’m 19 as of now and trying so hard to get one. It’s been a struggle.

      @@TCQuasar It’s not hard fixing em up. DSMs and 90s Mitsubishis were relatively simple cars. The hard part is keeping them running, having to tow ‘em back to your house every time they break down on the road and waiting days to get parts for them

    I feel like such a horrible person... I have been watching your videos for the last year and a bit now (slowed down recently due to Canadian struggles) but I'm just realizing I haven't been subscribed until today. Your DSM LITERALLY inspired me to build my own and I spent 3,200 on a low mileage '98 7-bolt 4G63 which I've EASILY dumped 4,000 into. I am now looking for a chassis to fit, but here in Canada all we have left standing in good condition are the Eagle Talons labelled as Eclipses simply because 90% of them have the Eclipse front bumper. I am not a fan of the Eagle taillights, that's the biggest thing for me and it has actually stopped me from searching for a chassis, I started looking for different shells I can mate the motor to. Now that you have done the community such a huge favour, I will continue my search for a 2G DSM. Thank you Miguel, and keep up the good work brother. Love the content!

    My eclipse has been in the shop for the last two weeks and I’ve been trying to find the oil leak finally think we found it out of the timing cover and this video is just motivation to keep going. Thank you man for your content :).

    hi from the uk, great car.
    i have a very rare 90s italian 5 cylinder turbo car and live for the 5 cylinder engine specifically the italian lump, sounds unreal, way nicer than anything else.
    but always loved these 3000gts despite the v6 being mounted the wrong damn way.
    good to see how far this car, the eclipse and yourself have come and got me re watching your oldest eclipse vids from the start.
    keep them coming mate, getting bored of these big big youtube channels they're all the same crap and content has gotten stale.

    It’s your fuel pressure regulator on the VR4. I’m almost certain of it. Take it apart and clean it out then put it back together. It’s only 3/4 pieces internally. Or try to adjust the pressure on it. Should be at about 45-50 psi while in operating temp at idle. Then should be at 80-90ish while in WOT. Get a clear fuel hose (lawn mower) and run the pressure gauge to where you can see it somewhere on the hood while conducting a pull for better visuals.

    Greetings from the UK,
    My 92 GTO made similar stuttering sounds at around 3-4k revs in any gear, turned out it was a ruptured rubber intake connector, so all the boost was blowing off out of the hole before getting to the throttle body, and the ECU was freaking out.
    Worth double-checking that rubber piece you have over the TB, it doesn't look suspect to me, but make sure all your clamps are tightened down. Hope you get it fixed, that's a gorgeous example of a 3k

    I’ve been watching you 3kgt videos since you got it so my mind is a little foggy to what you’ve fixed/checked. I have a NA but this still applies. I’ve had the same issue where when you give it gas it just bogs out, and pops and sputters it’s like anti lag just like you’re saying. What it was I was getting unmetered air past the MAF and my TPS sensor was out of spec, if your TPS sensor is old, test and replace if faulty, if new, calibrate it by ohming it out you can find instructions online. I remember your friend pressure tested your system so you should be good on the unmetered air part but idk if you replaced your MAF yet. I have two kinks on my fuel pump hard line and it still runs fine no issue. So I don’t think fuel is your problem unless your issues happen when you get into boost.

    as far as the eclipse it dose seem to be a wiring issue. maybe just rewire everything and get a new relay. new grounds with clean contact points

    You’re blindly troubleshooting the VR4. You need to datalog to see what’s going on. At minimum you need to see what your AFRs are doing. Hook up your wideband and fuel px sensor to a data logging source and datalog. You’ll be able to see what fuel px is doing when exactly this happens (it might be fine). Maybe your fuel trims are out of limit or you have a lazy 02 sensor but again, can’t see that though without data logging.

    You should get a carbon fiber steering or a quick release for the vr4. And you also need to wet sand and polish the headlight they look a bit oxidize.

    i drive a honda but it seems similar to when my spark plugs have some sort of moisture, oil possibly depending on your car but just check plugs or ignition spark in general

    I had this issue on my eclipse. It was a relay behind the stereo that I had to put a jumper wire in. It had to do with the old oem security system on those cars. It cuts power to the fuel pump to stop theft.

    We gotta break it down on the issue and figure out where the problem is coming from:
    For perfect combustion we need fuel, spark, and ignition. You said all the fuel components have been replaced/fixed so we can rule that out. Which means we need to focus on the spark and air.
    For spark make sure you check/replace:
    - Plugs
    - Wires
    - PTU (if the car has one)
    - Coil packs
    For air:
    - Boost leaks
    - IAC valve
    - BISS screw
    - Exhaust leaks
    - O2 sensor?
    - anything else i missed lol
    For the fuel pressure issue on the eclipse, check where the fuel pressure is measured. And check your fuel pressure regulator. I think it has to be an electrical issue if theres no leaks, something like the fuel pump going out. That’s the only way I could see it losing pressure while there are no leaks.

      Someone had mentioned similar symptoms with a faulty ptu and coil packs. Would come down to checking off one thing at a time. Thanks for the tips!

      You need to start with using quality fuel line in the tank first if you aren’t getting/holding pressure…you can’t use any fuel line that can’t be submerged in fuel, they will bloat and leak bad. I’ve seen it a hundred times. Keep things simple first if you aren’t getting or maintaining pressure. But yeah start with that and go from there..

      @@MiguelDsm I used to have a 99 vr4 (yes)…. It was always a bit troublesome. Your problem should be something easy, do a smoke test for vacuum leaks and check your intercooler piping. Since you said it happens when its hot, maybe it’s a plastic junction that gets hot and soft during driving. I would start there. If not, recheck spark, the backyard way to check is pull each wire while the car is on and put a screwdriver close to it to see if you’re getting spark. Careful not to get shocked 😂. For the eclipse, you got 40psi when playing around with the wires. I would keep going through there, replace the wires if necessary or sand the ends down to get good connections. Sometimes corrosion can be the culprit specially for the hillbilly fixes. Good luck 👍🏼

    May be a fuel pump issue.. would be fine at low rpms but 4000 and up voltage should rise to increase the fuel supply, id start there :) hope you get it fixed out man love the vids and content! I wanna start putting out content with my evo 9. Fully built bottom and top e85 pushing out 600plus who and 500 ftlb tourqe

    I really want a VR4 or a evo 9 for my next project. I currently have a running 420a 97 eclipse. Got it running safely on the roads after 5 years. Could’ve gotten it done sooner just kept putting it off.

    The fiav valve needs to be turned all the way out on the throttle body when you bypass the coolant lines, or else you will have a high idle from the valve being open.

      @@MiguelDsm that’s what I had to do with my 4 wheel steering delete. I watched a few videos and what was said to take a few hrs took me 45 mins. Just know you can do it. You have to tell yourself you can.

    First off for the 3gt Get rid of that style blow off valve and get a good hks super sequential, for the fuel pump you have to use in tank high pressure fuel line, if you use regular fuel line it will bloat and leak. And please install the maf right side up 😂

    Eh i feel yah man. everything seems to be broken. Been completely overhauling the wiring on my 3000gt atm Started with a haltech ecu and flying lead harness. Ended up ripping the entire body harness out and making a new one from scratch. Albeit heavily pared down since I didn't need it anymore lol. New custom dash, gauge cluster, Fuse and relay panel in the back with all the components and switches wired to it, Move the battery to the trunk, flex fuel, Coil on plug conversion. Setting up the basemap now. Still working on getting the haltech dual channel wideband controller, and the ic-7 dash. Everything i didnt need was removed including the entire dash,center consolde,heater core,SrS system and wiring. Almost complete overhaul of the car.

    Love the vr4 and the Evo eclipse! But you had good psi 40+ on the eclipse is because you feed full 12V power so check that relay and the power supply that's where I will start power from the batter or ecm to the relay and power to feed from relay to fuel pump.

    Issue with your fuel system on your 2g could fundamentally be 2 things. Either your fuel pump is bad, but seeing as how you powered it with that 12v probe and it gave you fuel pressure i doubt that. The other is something in your fuel pump circuit isnt sending a 12v source to your fuel pump relay to tell it to turn on while cranking/ running. Im not familiar with 2g's but i know the 1g has an MPI relay setup that sends the 12v source to the fuel pump.
    I would throw a multimeter on it while cranking and see if theres 12v at the relay switched 12v, and if theres not then something in the circuit and if there is 12v at the relay, then i would be the relay is bad.

    Can you data log while cruising to see what it’s doing?
    Also, for the dsm, try jumping the pump by running a wire straight to the battery, then see if it starts and runs fine.

    You seem to be having similar issues on your boosted cars, are you absolutely SURE all of your components are ethanol safe if you are running e85? I seem to remember the Eclipse is but unsure about the vr4. With multiple cars I imagine they sit a fair amount and as I understand it the ethanol can degrade incompatible lines and seals quickly, especially when they sit. Additionally, if you can build pressure at the rail have you tried clamping the return line off the reg to see if it holds pressure? If not your injectors are likely leaking into the cylinders and you want to make sure your oil isn't diluted with fuel as well.

    Maybe it can be something electrical part of the problem with the car, try removing your thermostat so the car temperature stays low and drive it to see if the problem still keeps showing up, if not then maybe is going to be a sensor or wiring harness problems

    Hey man, I'm not going to say I'm an expert but I think you need a new battery for the eclipse. On crack you seem to not be getting enough voltage needs to be around 12v for fuel pump to start properly, just my guess.

    i bought a stealth rt tt back in the day for 4000 dollars. the motor ultimately blew because the place i bought it from said the timing belt was done and i checked, the belt was fresh so i believed them. turns out the tensioner was not done with it... didnt have the car long but the guy i took it to specialized in dsm and these cars and said it woulda been worrth 10k if i sold it it was so clean. Hows it feel knowing these things are selling for like 20k plus now? its wild.

    my vr4 felt like it had anti-lag and after i replaced my y pipe for the turbos it fixed my issue so potentially a small amount of unregistered air, or a vacuum leak

    Miguel, if you end up finding out what the problem with the VR4. I'm having the same problem with my GSX. Around 4k it cuts. I've sunk so much time and money into the car and cant seem to figure out what it is.

    I'm up to the level you are at with my vr4 but it still does the sputtering when i accelerate... YUP Miguel its safe to say that we're cooked -_-

    Have you had your car tuned since you fixed the fuel issues? If you tuned it with the fuel issues your tuner was probably compensating for low fuel pressure by adding fuel, and now that it's fixed it might be rich AF

    Sounds like you might have a loose fuel line somewhere, just double check all your lines you messed with

      We checked for leaks on the previous episode. Everything seems fine

    The only thing i really didn't like about this car is the exhaust manifold blocking the rear plugs. Such a pain in the butt to get to them

    Dude the wiring for the fuel pump on the eclipse has got to be bad bc in the video u don’t hear the pump priming when u turn the key. And u had pressure when u have it power with the power probe but the fuel pressure dropped after mean the pump was not sending the fuel.

      Also complicated, both mechanically and electrically. Definitely the hardest to maintain of the bunch (not that the others are easy)

    Made in china right on the fuel line you installed on the pump gave it away😂 on the video you posted 3 weeks ago..
    You need to use a high quality submersible fuel line, like gates 27097 submersible fuel line. I almost can guarantee that is part of your problem.

    you CAN beat that twin turbo v6 sound.
    i mean v6s are common and nothing special only this has two turbos, v6s are like the bastard child of engines.
    dont get me wrong this is my favourite build on your channel, but the sound can be beaten.
    i have a 90s italian 5 cylinder 20v turbo with vvti which sounds better than any other engine type out there. because its aggressive but at the sae time still has that silky smooth refined tuner sound.
    tho mily Italian built lump sounds way nicer than the audi quattro rally cars.
