I have spent hours and hours and hours, etc......trying to find a Lady Lancaster pattern (which obviously is not available, duh.) But you have captured one of them amazingly well! I actually never thought of trying to develop my own pattern because I NEED exact instructions. The lapel is what I also prefer. So just in case you might like to offer a pattern on let's say Etsy - I would not complain. In fact, I would buy it. But regardless, thanks for the inspiration. Your sewing, quilting, crafting, design space is wonderful. Really enjoyed this video!!
I LOVE Lady Lancaster coats! Have you seen the skirts? Amazing! I don’t really have a written pattern, cause it changes every time I make one. I know you said you need exact instructions, but I would ask, why not try it? By using an old quilt or blanket that no one uses, you could experiment and see what happens. Trace the shape of a coat you already own that you like. What do you have to lose? Be brave, be bold! I hope you try it. ☺️
@@ArtfullySew Now that I have seen Lady Lancaster coats, none of the other patterns interest me. The skirts are stunning! The one you made with the lapel is so similar to the one I love most in her line. It's called the Aunt Ethel. You can turn it upside and wear it that way as well for a different look. It is longer since the lapel is at the bottom unfolded. She demonstrates that in videos that accompany each jacket. I might make a mock up first because I actually have several heirloom Mennonite hand quilted gems that I might want to make into a jacket. I used to display them, but they have faded. I really hate storing them. But I also quilt so I just might try my hand at improv like you have done. The chenille is such a great touch. And I really like the raw edges instead of the meticulous piecing! I actually think my mother had a set of sheets like you used for the lining! I am trying to relax and let the creative juices flow. I do a lot of fabric collage which has been a welcome deviation from traditional quilting. Thanks again for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to trying my hand with your approach. You calmly let things develop. You make changes if you aren't satisfied. It looked like so much fun. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!

Absolutely love this coat!! Beautiful❤ I'm going to attempt to make myself something similar. Thank you for inspiring me. I just found you and love your energy, and your hair it's gorgeous.
The jacket that you made is so beautiful I love how the process went and how you have humor in your video I just love it thank you so much for sharing❣️🪡✂️🧵💖💕💗😍
Hey, @Angela of Artfully Sew 👋🏼 I’m so glad your video popped up today. There are many things I loved about this. Thank you for sharing your tips-so many great ones-and your thought process. Love your sense of humour. You are adorable! 😁 Your coat is gorgeous! Love the grouped chenille strips and shawl collar. I like how the bottom of the collar slants up. while watching, I thought perhaps tapering it toward the hem would have solved your dilemma. It’s reminiscent of Cary Grant in a tuxedo. 💕Now I’m showing my age. I’d also like to make a cropped or bomber jacket in that style. Thanks for the reveal. Perfect! Re the possibility of a buttoned front… you could add a hidden strip with 3 buttonholes. Sew a button on both inside edges of the front lining-1 on the left & 2 on the right. When the jacket isn’t buttoned, the strip would rotate back toward the side seam and buttoned to the 2nd button, so it’s hidden. Just a thought… I’m now subscribed to your channel, and shared it with a group of my quilty RUclips friends. I look forward to watching both past and future videos. I’m going to binge-watch your playlists while I sew. Sorry…what started as a brief note of appreciation has apparently evolved into a dissertation of sorts! ‘Mawage….’ 😂🤣😂 Thank you, and Stay well! Hi Pat! Sorry for the late reply. You are super duper sweet! Thanks for all the nice words of encouragement. I do regret not adding the buttons to the front of the jacket. When I wear it, I’m always adjusting it because it shifts around and doesn’t stay flat. I love your idea of a hidden strip. If I do that, I will credit you in the video! Tell all your Quilty RUclips friends hello for me. And thanks for watching!💕

Thanks for Sharing this tutorial. I'm currently working on a reversible quilted maxi coat that I decided to make a hoodie for 🤪 which is a whole ordeal. And instead of putting 4 pockets {2 on both sides} I'm going to make 2 side pockets instead because I don't want to lose any of the piecing it took 4ever to decide on placement & color. AnyWayZ it's nice to see someone take you through the Real process, { Including Mistakes Made' instead of editing them out🤗} & showing how you worked through them & came up with solutions... Hi. I just found you today. I started with the quilt coat with hoodie for your daughter. At first I thought you were just being silly. However I watched the entire video and you are so talented and imaginative. This quilt coat is another level in style. Fabulous. I love the insert to yourself from the future!! Anyway, I subscribed and can't wait to go back further in your videos for some other upcycles. Hugs to you and your daughter.

The jacket turned out gorgeous! You never cease to amaze me with your ingenuity! In fact you inspired me with your last thrift store quilt, so I went hunting for one. I couldn’t find one so I decided to make my own. I’m a long time quilter so making and quilting the fabric was a breeze. I made a zip up the front with a hood. I even lined it. My first lining experience. It really turned out cute! I was intrigued with those cuffs on your coat. Would you consider doing a video on how you did the cuffs! It along with your chenille and binding really amped up the coat. Plus the cute way you cut the hem line! Wow, you are so talented! I’m going to join your Instagram and Facebook group!! Thanks again!
Wow, what a pleasure to hear your story about your coat! When/If I do this pattern again I can show the process of making the cuffs. Can't wait to see you in Facebook Land. Thanks for watching!

Good question! I don't sell patterns cause I don't really use patterns. Generally, I use other clothing for my patterns as you guessed. Most of the time I make it up as I go along. That's the fun of it for me - the creative process. Be brave, be bold my friend. You can do it!
Angela, In watching this video I spot a sewing chair beside Ms. Woodwire, I have one also that I found thrifting. Do you know the history of these chairs? Thanks in advance.
Hi Virginia, I got mine at a thrift store too!Not sure of the history, but it sure is my style. I’m guessing from the 1960’s. Does yours open for storage, kinda like a piano bench like mine?
Hi Heather, click on the description underneath this video, scroll down towards the bottom and there’s a link to show you. If you need more help, let me know…
Hi Julie - for the pattern I used the pieces from the thrift store coat (see the beginning of the video). I don't really use actual patterns very much, just trace clothes i already own. ☺️

Because you are a daring quilter, you need a better riper-outer. I use an x-acto knife with a number11 blade. It's very sharp but easy to handle.
Thanks for the tip, Theresa! I will have to try that.💕
Love the jacket pattern. Do you sell a jacket powder or do we just use an old jacket of ours and take it apart
Hi just found you what color wheel did you use please thx.
Hi Heather, click on the description underneath this video, scroll down towards the bottom and there’s a link to show you. If you need more help, let me know…
What pattern did you use to make the jacket please. I want to make one from a cutter quilt!
Hi Julie - for the pattern I used the pieces from the thrift store coat (see the beginning of the video). I don't really use actual patterns very much, just trace clothes i already own. ☺️
