The extreme metal band ALKALOID consists of international high-class musicians, including current and former members of bands like Obscura, Spawn of Possession, Aborted, Dark Fortress, Necrophagist, God Dethroned, Blotted Science and Noneuclid.
To fund their album they started a crowdfunding campaign in late 2014 that turned out to be a huge success.
Line up:
Morean (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid) - Vocals, Guitars
Christian Muenzner (Spawn of Possession, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist) - Guitars
Danny Tunker (Aborted, Ex-God Dethroned) - Guitars
Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Noneuclid) - Bass
Hannes Grossmann (Blotted Science, Ex-Obscura, Ex-Necrophagist) - Drums
You can order Alkaloid's debut album "The Malkuth Grimoire" at alkaloid-band.com/
If obscura was a Pokemon it would evolved into alkaloid
Great playing! I just listened to the album today, actually and couldn't help thinking that the bass wasn't high enough in the mix, but this helps a lot in figuring out what's going on and how you're interacting with the other instruments. It's interesting to see how it's sometimes done differently from what I imagined, or would have done myself. Regardless, such a talented bass player as this needs to make himself heard.
Love it! One also for the 3 amazing guitarists you guys have!
Wow. This is phenomenal Linus! Just the way you weave through the melodies the guitars are playing and the rhythms the drums are playing. Not only that, but you play with your own twist as well.
Love it!
finally you have a youtube channel with a playthrough :')
Can we hear the anticosmic overload bass playthrough ? :) Awesome playing man!
+Janne check this one out by me - Obscura the anticosmic overload by Zaed saad
im sure you will like it :)
Mate, three long years I've been yearning for a playthrough of yours. Wanted one from Hannes solo record, remember? Now, the wait is over! Keep it up!!!! Cannot to hear one from the future Obscura!
Amazing work Linus, congrats!!!
WOW!!
Excellent video and excellent workmanship. I hope to see more playthrough of songs of Alkaloid, Obscura and Noneuclid. I really really like your work. I was subscribed to this channel for a long time ago and I can finally see the video debut. thank you for making such great music.
a greeting from Venezuela.
PD: Sorry, my english is bad... I do not speak English, so use the Google translator.
Amazing playing Linus! Thanks for the vid.
Me gusta el trabajo que haces en Obscura y en Alkaloid
Inspiring band/music and creative bass lines. Salutes!
Very smooth, very inspiring!
Awesome bass lines throughout this entire album. Really hoping for a follow-up album. I must've listened to the debut album 200 times in the span of a few months before it finally grew old.
Monster!🤘🤘🤘
I love your bass work so much even though i'm not a bassist, i'm a trombonist, listening to you play always inspires me to be a better musician
+Devin Meehan You should make some trombone metal.
+MJS2001 when i get the time im gonna learn a viraema song and probably obscura
+Devin Meehan Viraemia on trombone?! Good luck!
+MJS2001 I still have to work up my range a bit but im gonna eventually
+Devin Meehan Trombone is basically fretless baritone, so you're watching the right video
Awesome video dude! I love the album! I also really like Noneuclid. Hope to see more videos soon..maybe even a play through off the new Obscura? :)
Awesome job, buddy!
Why don't you upload more stuff?
Thanks for the response, I love your Ten Sepiroth playthrough :)
You are awesome, I would like to see you playing the song Akroasis.
I'm really having trouble deciding on what bass to buy next. The BTB or the Ashula. I'm open to new sounds and everything. which one do you prefer Mr. Klausenitzer. great vid btw you are truly one of my greatest influences!
hi mr linus love the video , i'v got to tell you that you(when i first heard obscura ) and beyond creation are the reason i started to play bass guitar and when i heard of alkaloid and who is taking part i was so hyped :) . (sorry e4 the rant but need to xpres my feelings)
would it be a problem for you if I shared this in my facebook feed? I liked the cover!

+Linus Klausenitzer Hi Linus! Awesome playthrough. What guitar have you used?

What would be a good tip for someone starting out on fretless bass? Thanks.
Awesome, thanks a million! :)
New MDeth bassist?!?
Hey Linus do you think that you would ever release a bass transcription book for Omnivium?
+Linus Klausenitzer Awesome! Is there a release date for the new Obscura album yet?
+Linus Klausenitzer can't wait to get my fingers in (so to speak)
+Linus Klausenitzer Thats great news! :D
Is this D standard tuning?
+Linus Klausenitzer Ah ok, thanks for the fast response Linus! :D
Intro sounds a lot like Septuagint, but very cool anyways.
I personally think that the Bass is a boring instrument, but seeing you playing it makes me think otherwise! I really like your work :) Keep it up!
your playing is just great! my copy of your Obscura tab book is on its way!
if you have time you can check my covers i just made Obscura - Anticosmic overload :)
I just received my copy yesterday too!
envy
What strings do you use?
Neat. I like flat wound strings. Mainly because of Steve Harris.
Steve is my god. lmao
What's your favourite Maiden album? I really like Piece of Mind and Fear of the Dark.
I went to see them in Toronto just a few weeks ago. Best show ever.
How many basses do you own? I've got three, a four string, a six string, and a fretless acoustic.
Linus, this doesn't flow. I love this song (best in the album), but from your vid it looks like bass partitions are too "rigid." Correct me if i'm wrong.
Especially when talking about technical metal, every note must be executed very precisely. Seems to me you don't understand/appreciate this genre of music or perhaps the voicing of this instrument.
well, your opinion condemns pretty much all bassists that have some flow and groove as "non-precise." Including people like Tony Choy and Forest Lapointe. Shame. Such a perspective is definitely not doing any favors to this young player.
