He's caused a lot of damage to the Catholic Church and Faith over the last 60 yrs and hopefully repented for these evils before his judgement day .

If God told him to resign I can only believe that it’s for fulfilling prophecy. However, it’s hard to believe with the evil running things he’s more likely imprisoned
