Building my First Workshop

  • I'm still alive! In this video I share my experience of building a workshop for the past 4 months. This is my first ever workshop, and also the first time I've ever attempted a project of this scale. I did everything myself, maintaining a curious mindset and a willingness to learn. I purchased a 15x10ft Forest Garden Apex Shed as the skeleton for my workshop. I lined the inside with SuperFoil insulation and installed Oriented Strand Board (OSB) as my interior floor and wall. I then installed electricity by laying an armoured cable underground. If you have any questions please leave a comment down below.

There's nothing like walking into a brand new shed and smelling the wood.

Great looking shed, I had to covert my garage into another room. which meant all my tools had to either go or build a shed to house them.
The sheds I looked at were poor quality. I decided to build my own, the cost was unbelievable high but I now have a shed that will last my life time.
Enjoy your new workshop you have desired it.
Pleas stay safe this festive season.
    Cheers.

Cheers Bill👍🏻 I agree with you, you can't beat building your own shed. If I owned the property I'd have done the same and built a permanent structure!

Nice work. Nothing more magical than putting in a foundation and erecting a structure that wasn't there before with your own hands. Should serve you well for many years and definitely increase the property value, too.

looks like a great shed to grow into, and adding the insulation and electrical was ideal. I only wanted to point out that - although I am not an engineer - I have a feeling you might have failure over time on the roof and side walls. In my opinion, the roof does not have adequate support, I believe your side walls may start to push out and cause your roof to sag? A simple cable and turn buckle across the centre would fix that, except your sidewall height means it would be in the way as you walk around the shed. Just my thoughts. Keep it up!

Thank you! Yes it's very surprising how much time it takes to settle back in after moving! I wish you all the best getting things back on track with your Twitch channel

Great work, Gareth. Though I don't envy you the task of clearing and dismantling that lot when you have to move! Looking forward to seeing some more videos from you in the near future.

@@thehardwareguy Looking forward to see what's next. I myself use a kerosene heater in my shed, however during freezing it is rather expensive. I'm thinking of switching to a infrared panel.
