    Hi Karl,
    I have watched all the series of your workshop build, like you I am going to build a 20 foot by 10 foot workshop, I have also watched a lot of different ways to do it, but I think yours is the most reasonable way of doing it with the basic tools I have.
    I love the way you left in the mistakes you made, believe it or not, you learn more from what not to do, it is so easy in retrospect to say what you would have done differently.
    The end result looks great and I hope it serves you well for years to come.
    Thanks again Ian

      Thank you Ian I appreciate that and I hope everything goes to plan, when I did the base I didn't have my joists lined up correctly for 8x4 plywood sheets as well so check your centres well mate, I'm pretty sure every 16 inches works but best to check. Also I had an issue with my windows because I didn't have cills installed and I did not realise these where necessary for drainage as the glass has a tiny gap allowing the water to drain through into and through the cills. I'm really happy this has helped you.

      My workshop is really functional and I'm loving it as well Ian but still loads to do which is great because it's a ongoing hobby and keeps you occupied for years to come.

    Really enjoyed these video's mate... Just about to get into my own build, whilst I several years in the building trade (bricky) years ago, I have a good knowledge of most things, but some of your tips and the whole video story is invaluable. The thing I need to get my head around is the power tools, I have just started buying them, after researching different makes and video channels...Thanks for sharing, I am about to watch them all again..will like them this time, I forgot the last couple of times. Take care and stay safe. Regards, Bryan

      Thanks Bryan that's awesome, obviously my build is far from perfect but it definitely does the job. Oh and even though I did makeshift insulation it's working a treat, 5 mins of my stanley heater on and I'm boiling 😊

      karlpopewoodcraft 😀 I’ve got this idea in my head pal to build a ‘modular walled’ workshop. Idea is using 8x4’s OSB I’d build each unit individually over a period of time so the OSB would be the inner wall, line it with treated 3x2 and cut all the solid insulation to fit. Then when it comes to building, make a base as you did then attach the modules to each other, attach ceiling frame then clad modular walls and cover the roof. That way I can start building now (because it’ll take me ages) but assembly when I call in a few favours hopefully will be relatively short. Also (because I’m a long term tenant and not home owner) it could be taken down. All pie in the sky at the moment pal but that’s my plan😀

    What's the best way insulating a wooden shed to keep my work from warping and all other of things.

    • @karlpopewoodcraft
      @karlpopewoodcraft  Год назад +1

      Air flow is probably the most important thing when it comes to keep the wood stable. Make sure you have good ventilation and possibly an integrated extraction fan.

      Hi Tom thank you for the comment. I'm afraid I don't however I highly recommend trying to calculate each stage of materials needed and I then added 10% sometimes I had some spare others I actually needed to order a little more. 🙂

    Nice job man. Quick question, being about 24 meters square, did you have to get planning permission as it’s within 1 meter of the boundary?

    • @karlpopewoodcraft
      @karlpopewoodcraft  4 года назад

      Hi mate no I didn't as its less than 50% of my garden, however I had to check everything with the planning department at my local council and confirm I was within permitted development regs which I was. The council where happy that I was and cleared me to have the shed. 😊

    About to do this myself, have a few questions if you don't mind boss. Hows the 2x4 base, any flex? Also do you have a rough estimate on the cost of the build overall and specifically the cladding you used?
    Great videos btw, love the family getting involved. Noticed the kieth brown glue bottle in there, top man! Cheers

    • @karlpopewoodcraft

      Hi Lee thank you, I think the shell of the build was around £2330ish £500 on framing timber £650 on cladding £600 15mm ply for the roof, floor, wall, £200 electrics £50 felt, tounge and grove for the door £80 insulation £150 £100 screws nails bitumen bits and bobs
      And maybe a few bits here and there I've forgotten lol 😲
