Ukraine's Vovchansk: The largest city currently in the focus of the Russian assault | DW News

  • We begin The Day with a change in plans. In an effort to sustain international support for his country's battle against Russia, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy had planned to visit Spain and Portugal this week.
Instead he spent the day in the city of Kharkiv, visiting wounded soldiers and meeting military commanders. Ukrainian forces have been locked in bitter fighting against Russian troops northeast of Kharkiv since the launch of a surprise offensive last week.
Ukraine says the situation on the front line has been largely secured. But Russian troops have seized a few kilometers of territory on the Ukrainian side of the border. DW's Max Zander has been to Vovchansk - the largest city currently in the focus of the Russian assault.

It actually is a big strategic town for the logistics. There is a main road that connects Belgorod with the Donbass. This will help the Russian to resupply their units from 2 different points.

I cannot understand why NATO does not want peace.
Why did NATO not want to implement the Minsk agreement in 2015?
Why did NATO not want to approve the peace draft from Istanbul in the spring of 2022 that the parties accepted.
Whether NATO participated in the coup d'état in Ukraine in 2014 is unknown, but the US participated and financed the coup d'état for which the taxpayers of the United States paid approx: 5 billion dollars, which Victoria Nuland organized. Victoria also appointed the new government 3 weeks before the coup d'état.
The only thing more weapons to Ukraine contribute is more destruction, more dead and Ukraine losing even more territory. If Ukraine mainly lacks soldiers, they can never win militarily over Russia with 5 times more population.
Kilratio is also on the Russian side with approx: 1 to 5. Mainly because Russia has 5-10 times more artillery which eliminates soldiers from a distance and keeps down the Russian losses. Then we add that Russia has air supremacy with aviation and air defense, all of which are produced in greater quantities in Russia than in the entire West. This suggests that the smartest thing NATO can do is to accept defeat in order to save Ukraine as a country.

This is different from Putin who is a real strategic planner. Looking at Mikey's photos, he often portrays himself as a warrior wearing a green army shirt, but Putin still wears his usual formula of stillness and stability. There are many different levels.
