UPDATE: A lot of you have been asking about the playlist I used for my curriculum and it's actually on my RUclips channel! I hope it helps -> ruclips.net/p/PLnOpxIeAVG5Z5iTyj20Tb3cRIvHJ8p0F9&feature=shared If you've got a topic/question you want me to answer, do let me know in the comments below
It's great to hear people's origin stories. Not only does this get your goal in order, but it also keeps stumbling blocks like fears and high expectations out of the way. Especially for others like me who want to be professional artists in the future, it's just a reminder that we're not the only ones struggling.
Awesome to hear that you found this video helpful! The art journey is definitely filled with many challenges but can also be a very rewarding one. Best of luck and I hope my other videos can help you too 😄
Currently going trough what is, very probably, the shittiest mental health period of my entire life and seeing this gives me much needed hope and drive to keep working on my art. Unfortunatelly having adhd will impact greatly how fast this spark will die out but atleast you've motivated me to improve right now, which I couldn't do myself for a couple of months now. I too was/am a programmer (I'm writing a couple of stories on the side and aim to be a self publishing artist someday tho) before realizing that I still missed art and going back at it and then dropping out of art school once due to it being a scam and then twice from another one due to finding out I have adhd which severely impacts my ability in being consistent and maintaining any sort of rhythm, which made me have a 5 months long burnout afterwards and is a complete garbage of a game mechanic in my life. But yeah, thank you for this man
So great to hear a little bit about your background story, it’s inspiring! 🎉 Isn’t drawing so much fun?! I started drawing a year and a half ago. I had like 0 skills. I couldn’t even draw a box in perspective. I spent a year and a half focusing on improvement and I’ve seen humongous results - my art now is incomparable to when I first started. It’s fun to look back on my first drawings - I kept nearly every single one so I could look back whenever I wanted. Art is a journey that never ends - so many fun styles to try, things to learn, etc. It keeps life entertaining! I’m especially thankful for your streams, I’ve learned a lot of great things from them! Thank you!
Awesome to hear about your art grow as well and very honored to be a part of your journey!! Thank you for the support and looking forward to see where you'll keep going 😁
I feel very identified with not knowing which academic route to follow, being self-taught is complicated sometimes BUT I had never thought of looking for art school educational programs. Thaks.
Always great to hear some positive stories for people chasing their passions. I'm currently in the freelance arc myself albeit in a different field of work but I feel like the lessons learned here are also applicable anywhere. For anyone chasing their dreams, it's going to be rough but it's going to be the most fulfilled you'll feel when things work out. Keep grinding and never forget to have fun while doing so. Can't wait to see more!
You don't know how you have inspired me since i saw your channel, in RUclips, and twitch. You are my art teacher and also a source of inspiration. Since i stoumble upon your channel, my art has never been the same. Tks kaycem. Im greatful 🙏
You droped the video the same day i started to see minor improvments in my art and get more motivated now im fired up evn more your tutorials seem very helpfull to so keep up the good work and thank you alot for the insparation ❤
Thank you for sharing your art journey with us, it's incredibly inspiring and motivating! A career pivot is not often talked about, so it's so awesome to hear your path. Would love to hear more in the future on what you mentioned--how you navigated imposter syndrome, art burnout, self-doubt, and your approach with grinding to the next level in a healthy way, etc! Thank youuuu! 🔥
Yeeees I love the topics you suggested and definitely want to do more videos like that in the future! Thank you for watching and supporting and best of luck on your art journey 😄
high five from another fellow big tech worker also trying to change into an art career!! i've been waffling on and off about the decision to leave the FAANG money behind in pursuit of my childhood dreams, it's very inspirational and motivational to see you pull it off :)
Videos like these snap me back into reality. I'm nowhere near good enough to get hired by any studio and I'm not practicing nearly enough. Sure I'm drawing everyday but there's no structure. I feel like I have tiny bursts of motivation that last a week or two where I grind pretty hard and then procrastinate for a month or more. Not to mention dealing with mental health issues and a bunch of other stuff. I gotta pull myself together.
following you from Egypt you helped me alot with anatomy it was my nightmareyou simplify it hope you do some videos about studing clothes and light and shadow
Hey man video is awesome and thank you for sharing the story, would love to see even more videos like these along with the art teaching big up and kick ass bro🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Thank you, for sharing this with us :) It might sound a little harsh, but you can actually learn a lot from someones misssteps too. Your even one of those who inspired me to dont give up my dream. I even see me in some points here. I am also at the “find a healthy way to get back in and get better“ stage^^ Is it not surprising how many newcomers where actually inspired by anime and such? 0.0 The influence of this once (globaly) niche industry is actually pretty amazing :D
Just discovered the channel and loving all your videos! Hoping for a potential clothing design focused one in the future 🙌 That always seems to be something I specifically struggle with in my own designs beyond just the anatomy of the clothing itself.
I spended (and still do) some years learning to draw aiming to work on the animation or gaming industry there was a time where i just dropped completly because i felt like i wasnt going to being able to get a job on this, i started learning programming and was planning to start a job on that after like 2 years i returned to draw again (which was early this year) because i truly want to do this but now im on a dilema where i feel i have to choose or keep trying and see if im able to succed on my goal or just give up and do the other thing which i dont have much interest ( though i have it much esier at the time of getting a job on this due to some contacs) but due to my age having almost 28 i kinda cant keep prolonging this much more. I improved much more on this year than when i was doing it before but still i dont think its enought to allow me to live from this so is like a fight against time on my case i guess.
You definitely approached your training better than me 😅 Well done man, insane achievements in 2 years. I’ve gone from beginner to novice in about 3yrs, hopefully hit a more intermediate level by end of this year 😅✍️
I'm a highschool drop out working in a factory at 21, do not want to be a lifer like a lot of people are at my job who have been there since they were 18 and are now 50+ because frankly they all just seem so depressed and getting a bit above minimum wage ain't worth breaking my back plus doing rotation every 2 weeks is torture (M.A.D schedule) going from afternoons to days is hell. given I get used to waking up at 12 for work at 2 but for days I gotta wake up around 4:45am to shower and get ready for work at 6am and clock in 10 minutes before or I'd get disciplined. I'd rather do art and make enough to pay my rent and eat instant noodles if I gotta
I’ve been on my freelance stage for like 10 years lol Still grinding a 9-5 and drawing before and after. Do you have your portfolio from when you got your studio job? It’d be interesting to see what you did
Hi there, you have a 2023 bootcamp playlist which is for 2-3 hours and another one 2024 bootcamp playlist which is for 25 -50 mintutes whats the difference should i watch the unedited longer versions would they suffice. or the 2024 bootcamps shorter ones whats the difference
Hey!! They are actually the same bootcamp but the 2024 one just has the first couple bootcamp days as trimmed up versions to see if it's something you like!
Maybe I'm blind but can you please share your playlist vids/curriculum you used to vastly improve yourself? I'm in desperate need of structure and yours seemed very helpful
I know it's kinda for clickbait purposes, which is completely fine. But i'd argue you didn't become a professional in 2 years, you became a professional after dropping out of art school, with a lot of knowledge and experience that no beginner has from the start, even if you hadn't done it for a long time before getting back into it. which is kind of misleading.
Sorry if it's misleading! I was hoping that the title makes it clear that I went from programmer to pro Artist in 2 years not that I went from beginner artist to pro in 2 years. This video was meant to help people looking to pick up art again or those looking to find a structure with their own self paced art journeys ☺️ I also stated in the video that I had to unlearn all the things I had learned and then start with the fundamentals from the ground up~ Either way, thanks for the watch!
I'm confused when did he say he went to art school. I heard he was a programmer and he knew some things from when he was younger not that he went to art school
Well pencil and paper are always top tier but if you want to get into the animation practicing, a lower end drawing tablet could work and maybe looking into some free drawing programs~ Maybe I'll make this to a video 🤔
Thanks, I’ve used some of your livestreams for inspiration in my art. I’m really better at background design but I’m wanting to get better at character design. Keep making great content.
you can definitely search up any online art schools and the good ones should have their curriculums listed. Alternatively, you can also look at my 30 Day Bootcamp which is the playlist I created after following the curriculums~ ruclips.net/p/PLnOpxIeAVG5Z5iTyj20Tb3cRIvHJ8p0F9&feature=shared
I am 18 a graphic designer mainly but started learning art properly for abou 2 years ago, and have made some progress love your character design streams would love if you put bit shorter and refined version of them, love your work and channel kaycem.
I mostly made my own curriculum which was compromised of a bunch of various youtube videos and the product of that curriculum is my 30 day bootcamp which you can find on my channel! As for the books, mostly the standard ones like bridgman and Loomis! Didn't spend too much time with books honestly since I didn't want to spend too much money 😅
Most online art schools should have a rough idea of the curriculums and courses they provide so I'd take a look at places like Brainstorm, Gnomon, CDA, etc~
