LIFE SIGN WORLD RECORD FOR CAMPBELL WHAT A DRIVER THE WHIP NEVER TOUCH LIFE SIGN JUST A GREAT HAND DRIVE FOR THE ALSIA CRAIG ONTARIO NATIVE CAMPBELL IS BRED TO BE TOP DRIVER HIS GRANDFATHER DUNC WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN HIS DAY
Without a doubt that was the best drive I have ever seen John Campbell give a horse. If you studied this race like I did back then you can see that John was not only driving Lifesign but he was also driving Riyadh, by staying back beside Jack or only at Riyadh’s wheel. This got the 2 middle quarters the way he wanted them in 57.4 almost .58 then he started coming up toward last turn and it was a dash to the finish. That's the way I seen it, Anyone else and Lifesign does not beat Riyadh. Personally I feel John Campbell was the greatest driver ever. And that's saying something because there are some great drivers.
worst driver the GOAT ever gave, lucky life sign was outta this world that afternoon... glidemaster hambo 2006 was finer than an aged wine. you, i or your dog would have won the jug with Life Sign
@@Jbmc65 who goes first up in a world record mile and still wins?? The Horse, not the driver. Pompano is closed and poor die laughing is yet to finish, if he won off the 53.2 half against the GOAT and Artsplace, youd call that a great drive too haha you must like watching races at hoosier, peasant
Im Themightyquinn (AUD$4.2m / USD$107m with the current value of the USD). There are a couple of other factors that also speak to the difference in the mile record between the US & ANZ. 1. We generally don't have time trials - we leave timetrials to countries who believe running fast times & not winning races is important. 2. Drugs are illegal in ANZ. The same philosophy that allowed Lance Armstrong to get away with cheating in 7 TDF's pervades your racing industries. In ANZ we put the...
A guy who screams the entire race is doing so only to cover his lack of talent. In N.Y. and N.J. where Harness racing is King, there isn't one fan who can take Huston's screaming. We actually MUTE the T.V.'s and his voice still breaks through.
Been to almost every Harness Track during my long life. I've heard them all since the 60's and while Roger Huston is by far the worst announcer in harness history, post below most be related to him to make such a comment about him, there is one announcer who stands alone for those who had the pleasure of listening to him, The Late Jack E. Lee stands alone as the greatest. Just a shame millions never got to hear him during the 60's, 70's and even 80's when there wasn't simulcasting. But anyone that goes back some years will tell you, "There was Jack E. Lee" then all the rest.
I met Jack once at the O T B in Glen Cove. I asked him what the double was going to be that night. He said "B B"(2,2). The 2 favorites- $6.00 double ! I don't play chalk. Anyway, I also said to him, Jack, you are the greatest race announcer since since Fred Capposella. He said to me, "Thank You, that's a very nice compliment" Sometimes I would call the "stretch call" just to hear him call a race !!! (it was a 976 number, 2121 was the result line, and there was one for the stretch. I think it was 976 7676. LONG LIVE JACK E. LEE
+John Onda Greatest Jug ever but in the 2nd Elimination Campbell screwed Walter Case jr on the 1 horse. Walter let John go and John should not have let Presidential Ball go. Walter let John go because Walter wanted the front or the 2 hole and John knows he was wrong for doing that to Case.
You're right about Case letting Campbell go. He wanted the 2-hole in the 1st elim. Also you have to realize, while Case was a terrific driver (I hope they let him drive again), John Campbell IS JOHN CAMPBELL.
John Onda Walter Case Jr is the greatest harness racing history but problems off the Racetrack were his undoing. Walter can not comeback to who he use to be. Since 2003 he has only drove a few times at Plainridge then they would not let him drive. Just like any sport you do not want a great one to comeback only a shell of himself. Example ALI came back to fight Larry Holmes if anyone has seen it. It was very sad Holmes pummeled ALI but Holmes was begging the Referee to stop the fight. Walter could be The George Foreman of comebacks. Foreman was out of boxing 11 years Walter has been away since 2003.
+John Onda John Campbell is like you said John Campbell. It makes me sick to watch some races at the Meadowlands there is a 10 horse field and they use some stupid odd ball driver and John Campbell is not in the race. You know the names off the odd ball drivers.
Can't argue with that. Tried to get to the lead at the start and then had to yank back and tuck in fourth. Sat in for about 5 seconds and then pulled first over and just kept grinding. Riyadh had everything going his way and Life Sign still won pulling away on the wire!
He died?! He was the speediest horse around, and just a little guy. On a half mile track, he was almost impossible to beat, because he handled the turns so well.
the US to race & then breed. And some of these have been from the elite bracket (e.g. 2006 LBJ winner Mr Feelgood). @all4pharlap not to mention the hand up rule and the fact that they don't race beyond a mile. I have studied a lot of American pacing as I'm involved in breeding standardbreds. I love John Campbell, but I don't remember him ever giving a horse and easy trip in a Little Brown Jug. Yes, when you are the best you have to drive aggressively, but it seems he's always first over in this race multiple turns.
@hunterman966 There's no doubt that there's a gulf between the mile horses, but fortunately there are many more dimensions to ANZ racing. It's a shame US racing is so pidgeon-holed.
key to the race was Morrill backing down the middle half. Gave Life Sign a little breather on the outside. Riyadh goes 55 or faster to half and he is a triple crown champion

Game upon demand. Such classic blood cross with double Adios - TarHeel stems and KnightDream top and bottom.
