I could watch these old classics a million times - Albatross vs Nansemond matchups were terrific.

Yep. I like the 2nd heat for this Jug when Nansemond came from behind and flew past Albatross. What a rush! But I like both horses, and Albatross was the king pacer. ruclips.net/video/UZvJGwvhLtI/видео.html

Herve was a masterful driver.I don’t think anyone could outthink him in a race.
I can say this for Herve’...He finished where he wanted to finish in a race.
He once told me at Yonkers he would finish 3rd by a head in a certain race( morning line favorite)....Fast forward to the race, Herve whipped, pushed and prodded, but at the wire he was 3rd by a head.
Funny thing was he did not go off as favorite in the race, he went off as 3rd choice....Coincidence i guess, mind you the other 4 horses he circled on my program all won...Including an 11/1 shot.
Herve, you were the greatest my man.
Long live Quebec, home of the greatest harness driver’s in the world.

Couldn't agree more if he actually tried to win all the time he would have had 20,000 wins

In a Sports Illustrated article on this race, Herve Filion said that Nansemond was at a peak during this time, coming off a rest time following an injury, and Stanley Dancer said that Albatross had run two races the week before, one of which was in the mud, and that they affected his performance. Albatross was a great horse, and Nansemond rose to the occasion in this race.

This race was won by the driver.Herve totally dominated Dancer, that was the difference.Albatross was by far the better pacer.

The Jug now sucks!! I love Thoroughbred racing. They do not mess with tradition. I used to own, and train my own harness horses. You dont see the Triple Crown changed...race first Sat in May, 2 weeks later, the 3 weeks for the crown.

Actually, the music may well have came from the original source. He can't do much about that.

@@brianjschumer Love Jackie Mo. Was good friends with his dad and grandfather ( Sid and Max ). I used to place bets for them at freehold back in the 90's. Always a benefit to know what the boys in the back were betting lol.
