I was taught by a couple of older mechanics to only mess with live ignition stuff with your left hand, that way it won't cross your heart on the way to ground. Unlikely to kill you but better safe than sorry.

Been there done that more than a few times myself! shocked the crap out of myself on a Sun 1020 engine analyzer testing an ignition coil. That standard blue streak coil is no joke!

@@BrownyCakes1 i got my right arm too close to the coil, the electricity went through my right hand, through my body and out my left hand and into the test knob on the panel. Hurt bad!

@@MattsRageFitGarage it does hurt! And you feel weird the rest of the day. Pretty horrible that my friends and I would mess with each other by cranking the engine over while someone else was inspecting the ignition wires.

Duraspark ignition used on 70’s ford stuff, you generally don’t worry but been told a few stories of guys wrenching on Torinos/montegos etc and that electronic ignition can stop your heart.
I wouldn’t want to even think what my MSD would hit like!!

That’s why when I work on these older cars I use only left handed screwdrivers & wrenches. That way the shock won’t cross your heart and die lol
