Ripley's gearing up scene can't be any more beautiful. You can literally feel her fear, her lack of actual combat experience. But at the same time the absolute determination, the creativity when facing an unnatural situation, the adrenaline pumping in her body. James Cameron was a total beast back in the 80s and 90s.
Agreement. This was my favorite. It was the only one that had a time hack. Rambo's gear would have been already ready. The countdown there was cheesy. There was no rush that I remember.
Interesting thing about the Ripley scene. For years this scene was a blooper, but they fixed it for either the Blu-Ray or the Director's Cut (I forget which.) Originally she took a flamethrower off the rack, and laid down a pulse rifle. Then she took a pulse rifle off the rack and laid down the flamethrower. It's correct here.
I would legit pay hella money to see an entire movie of jacked sweaty badass 80's action dudes just strapping up and locking and loading all the guns with the sweet 80's whammy guitar riffs and constant gun cocking sounds! HELL YEAH BROTHER!
@@JayTidethe Rambo gear up scene is awesome, but when you think of a gearing up scene, most people imagine Arnie on a beach, locking and loading everything he has.
@@lordaldo3273 And it was done right. She had to do this to survive. She had to do this to quell the nightmares. She saw the threat they were and couldn't let humanity suffer like her crew did. It was either step up or die like the rest. Hence why she was so willing to end herself when the queen was bursting her chest in 3. This is how you make a bad ass character, and Ellen Ripley is legendary.
The whole scene is just awesome, you can feel the pressure almost if it was real, such an amazing performance and great work with the make up, the sweat, the atmosphere, everything together make that part of the movie perfect.
Awesome. I actually loved Ripley's scene - even back then, I thought the idea of duct taping the rifle and flame thrower together was a rad idea. Truly a great character. Sly and Arnold are always amazing.
Even moreso, in the book someone looks at her creation and states it violates at least 50 safety regulations. Ain't redneck unless it's dangerous to the wielder too.
I love that deep breath that Ripley takes right before the elevator opens. It’s such a little thing that just communicates so much. It’s like “WTF am I doing here? Please don’t cry, try not to panic. Deep breath, THIS IS HAPPENING, and WE are doing it. Ok. Time to get to fucking work.”
She is frightened yet determined, Ripley is still the strongest female character and none had come close to her even after 40 years. Holywood today just misses the point by giving manlike-masculine traits to female characters to make them look strong but instead they look ridiculous.
Sounds so satisfying when everyone gears up. I'm sure we all can relate to these scenes in how way or some form. These scenes reminds me a lot of my Resident Evil video game days. When playing RE1, RE2, RE3 and RE4 fighting the bosses, I geared up like crazy especially on hard mode where it only takes 2 hits to bring your health down to red. Stock up on my 1st spray, carry all my handgun bullets, carry 7 rounds of my magnum, bring a few explosive grenades, and bring one big weapon to the fights. End up using them all too because i love the difficult and challenge of the bosses.
Commando is one of the greatest movies ever made. I also love how even the slightest touch of a gun in these scenes makes a huge click sound. Even them just picking it up.
Arnold in Raw Deal (@2:16) taking the time to load and put one in the chamber for all his firearms but then not topping the mags off has always bothered me.
I served in the army in the 90s. Infantry. Based off the back of these 80s films we all used to make a real show of getting kitted up. It was always good for a laugh.
It's relatable, you can put yourself in the situation, steeling yourself for what could possibly the hardest fight of your life, maybe even the end. The way she puts her head back and breathes. You can feel it.
If he HAD the gear, he likely would have just taken the pictures, got picked up by chopper, got his pardon, and returned to Arizona....and all those dudes would have died in the camps.

1. Commando
2. Aliens

There was another gear scene that would made it this video,
It’s called HOT FUZZ

Seriously my favorite part about 80s films why did they stop doing this....always gets you pumped up for the action!
First Avengers did that.
They're still doing it today.
This kind of thing is now reserved for superhero stuff.
@@thomasthorburn2751Superhero movies are still action movies.
For me, as a kid, it was the frontal nudity and the occasional {redacted} scene with montage music. But I can see the appeal of this as well. ;-)
So glad you put Sigourney along with Arnold and Stallone !
Her character is sooo much better than the far fetched female action stars of today.
she held her own

Even a few hundred years into the future duct tape still holds everything together
Duct tape is low-key one of the most useful inventions in human history
Also coffee , the only thing good in the nostromo ship
It's like the Force, it has a light side and a dark side, and it binds the Universe together.
If Ripley had taken a spare magazine for the M61 pulse rifle then we’ve wouldn’t have had any further Alien sequels…
Flex Tape is the future tho
Schwarzenegger & Stallone… Ultimate bad asses… 😎💪
Yes John Matrix And John Rambo 💯💯

All of that but fear. Her stress..for sure..but the bitch ellen ripley feared nothing.

Thanks was wondering what the second arnie film was 🫡

Dude lay off of the 1980's cocaine already!
0:11 when Arnold's double grenades clinking against each other, you know it's badass
It's like the masculine version of jiggling boobies.
If there's one thing Evil Dead pulls off with their gear up, it's a perfect one-liner. *Groovy*

The 80s had the best gearing up scenes
Loved them all, but the Commando one with Big Arnie is still probably the most iconic of them all!
The Rambo one definitely has an argument.
@@JayTidethe Rambo gear up scene is awesome, but when you think of a gearing up scene, most people imagine Arnie on a beach, locking and loading everything he has.
All that badassery with the perfect finish, "Groovy!"
Ripley was just a warrant officer on a space tugboat but the aliens turned her into a wrathful war-goddess.
It's an awesome arc, genuinely
Same with Ash. He was just a housewares worker for a market, but the book of the dead turned him into a chainsaw handed demon killer.
+palmerip. Sigourney Weaver was truly “badass”.
It's a good thing Hicks taught her how to use all that stuff.

My personal favorite comes from the original Dawn of the Dead when they reach the gun shop. Classic.
It's a great scene. Have a look at the oh guns guns guns video on the channel, it's included in that.
Aint it a crime
First Blood: Part II. Legendary.

The first 25 seconds is how I get ready to roll to Costco.
Stumbled on this gem. Thank you. "I want my two dollars!"
Arnold is the king of gearing up
Disagree when you put up the scenes from Commando and Rambo side by side, Commando seems like satire and Rambo like a documentary
Rambo nearly stabs himself 🤕
I always loved how Ripley just, like, duct taped a couple of guns together to make one super gun. Space Redneck ingenuity, right there.
Even moreso, in the book someone looks at her creation and states it violates at least 50 safety regulations. Ain't redneck unless it's dangerous to the wielder too.
4:59 that camera load is the best thing ever
Even loading film into a camera is enough to get me nodding in appreciation, with a “yeah”.
No....an Macho Man "Ooohhh Yyeeaahh"
All great action movies, thriller movies, monster movies, and supernatural horror films need scenes like this.
Ripleys one of the greatest heroes
"Anything Left For Us?" "Just Bodies!" best line ever
The Ash sequence is made all the better for him making the chainsaw hand.

Linda Hamilton!Sarah Connor ???
Yes! Where's Sarah?
0:12 it’s the fact that a Deagle looks like a reasonable sidearm when it’s strapped to Arnold.
And normal sized.............he actually fired a few rounds from it when the rocket launcher was emptied LoL
Probably the only time in history that the gearing up to an action sequence is done to the music of steel drums.
aliens gear up actually made sense for the story, the rest are just cool lol.
That 3rd scene is from Raw Deal. Lot of people don't like that movie, but it's fucking boss.
It makes Arnold look like Freddie Mercury without a mustache.
Ripley's gearing up scene is the best..... but right behind it is Ash (from Evil Dead 2) and the first Arnie on from Commando.
Arnold in Raw Deal (@2:16) taking the time to load and put one in the chamber for all his firearms but then not topping the mags off has always bothered me.
Wow Myer! Great Gearing up scenes for sure! I love this!
Wow look at all those guns! I wanna own them all!
Ripley using a Loading Dock Exoskeleton to fight the Xenomorph Queen was ultra badass.
The Calypso music 😂
My favorite gearing up scene is absolutely the one in the Matrix.
Arnold Owns this category.
Ripley has the biggest balls i have ever seen, even Chuck Norris wont be happy facing Lt.Ripley.
Ahh the Rambo knife! I can remember when I got my first knock off of that. Best summer ever!!
name of gun shown at 3:02 is International Ordnance MP2 machine pistol, So cool.
There's only one winner here: Commando
YES!
Couldn’t help but notice after loading tube feed weapons they didn’t reload after putting one in the chamber. I also noticed they didn’t select safe
Commando featured THE 1st appearance of a Desert Eagle as a sidearm. Plus James Horner’s score was great.
For some reason the clip of Stallone loading some 35mm film into his camera in amongst all the blades and guns makes me chuckle.
I hope the editor of Commando got a raise, it is impossible to not get hype with the rhythm of the edition

Gearing up scenes of the 80's were the best
I remember in kindergarten back in 1986 I was Grunt from G.I. Joe for Halloween at school and my mom painted my face like Arnold in Commando.
Arnold made THE BEST action movies. Period. Very good actor as well. Nobody even came close. Nobody.
Commando: One of the best action-thriller movie ever made!
You forgot the greatest gearing up scene of all: Hammer (Isaac Hayes) from "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka (1988).
It's in part two! :D
I got to say that I think Ripley takes the win on this one. Her scene is total badass focus, just as good today as it was then, and not at all cheesy.
It's relatable, you can put yourself in the situation, steeling yourself for what could possibly the hardest fight of your life, maybe even the end. The way she puts her head back and breathes. You can feel it.
Ripley over Arnie in Commando? Better go to the doc for some TRT, son.
