Woodturning : Turning a rotten piece of beam into a beautiful work of art

- A fine example of what can be done with rotten wood and transparent resin.
Here I use a piece of rotten oak beam and small branches of hazel wood cast in transparent epoxy resin.
The result is very interesting and very pretty.
The finish is ensured by varnish.
It is in my studio that I design works in wood and epoxy resin, some are filmed to be put online and offer the viewer an immersive journey into artistic creation in a relaxing asmr context.

Un bel exemple de ce que l'on peut faire avec du bois pourri et de la résine transparente.
Ici, j'utilise un morceau de poutre de chêne pourri et de petites branches de bois de noisetier coulées dans de la résine époxy transparente.
Le résultat est très intéressant et très joli.
La finition est assurée par du vernis.
C'est dans mon atelier que je conçois des œuvres en bois et en résine époxy, certaines sont filmées pour être mises en ligne et proposent au spectateur un voyage immersif dans la création artistique dans un contexte asmr relaxant.

Yes, this is often the case with oak because it is a very resistant and durable wood.
I must've missed the notification for this when it came out, but luckily, I came across it anyway. This little bowl is extraordinary. Your imagination and subsequent creations never fail to astound me.

The X formed on the rim was a happy accident. I liked using the small twigs as filler, because they contrasted so well with the tree trunk part of the bowl.

The bowl is very beautiful and retains some of the mystical properties of the 'Rotten' piece of wood. However, the rotten piece of wood, in my mind, was a work of art by Mother Nature, I saw a cave, canyon, underground cavern etc. The end result still displays those qualities, brilliant art work. Hi 👋, BAW , That was a great idea most people would’ve thrown that away, I have some similar pieces down in my garden, from some old beams that I had to replace in my property a few years ago, And I have some logs that the internal part has rotted away, but the outer edge is still very good. might be a good idea to try to do something similar., I cannot afford resin at the moment I have to wait,
