I know I "quit" Runescape a year ago, but this does seem pretty tempting to try out. Because...no one ever truly quits Runescape.
Yea we just go afk for a while 😂😂
Welcome back bro
Melee is actually usable man 😭
Ends sentences weird
I literally played again just to autoclick 120 necro didn't even try it out properly
RSGuy has absolutely dominated the RS3 creator sphere, so glad you stayed with us. Having someone with your skills and knowledge to help us make sense of such a large change is massive for the community man.
Babe wake up new guy vid
Keep the videos coming Ryan, they are the best RuneScape content currently. If Jagex keeps up with updates like this modernizing the game I believe it can reach it's full potential and actually start growing in player numbers. And you're doing amazing work showing off what RuneScape is capable of!
the thing about necro, as an usual player you can enter endgame with an 2b setup. In Range you would need more than double the amount
More like triple or more, realistically. At very least BOLG, ECB, SGB and a couple EOFs already puts you at near 6b currently just for a few core pieces without all accessories, abilities, armor, etc. The ease of use of necro also comes with a low cost to entry, which is a good thing tbh.
yes thats my biggest issue. i would love to go back to range but 7bill+ investment aside. the flow is something i never got used to, alot of switches and staggering abilities and managing ammo its very high apm lots of things to manage and to reach those top levels you got to be on full manual. compared to Necro's very easily rotation you can put it on revo+ and just manually cast your thresholds and still reach optimal dpm levels its night and day.
so investing all that money into range for me that requires a much higher apm to shave off a few seconds of killtime does not compute since its going to take a very long time to return on your initial investment( i.e. boss everyday all day so those few seconds turn into hours, days saved)
Not for long with this type of damage boost bosses will be killed by more people and faster by the normal people so prices will change with more drops
@@scottbright595 Necro was already the biggest damage increase in history as well as ease of access for average players to those bosses. It wont tank the prices faster than normal IMO, until something is released that actually makes them obsolete.
So… you use Necro as a way to get into bossing to either get the equipment yourself or make the money for it. Besides, you absolutely don’t need that amount of money and it’s actually people like YOU who are deterring players more than the actual prices or ease of access. You people make it seem absolutely necessary but in reality you can get away with a much cheaper setup at the cost of like 10-30 second longer kills. Which, to normal gamers, doesn’t matter. Idk why RuneScape players obsess with kill times so much to the point that they freak out that Necro gave them a 20 second faster kill. But comments like this make new players discouraged from even trying.
Before the changes, I was easily a necro main, for it not only was really easy to use but busted in comparison of the combat triangle. But now I'm slowly but surely switching back to melee, even got my T95 Lengs just in time for the reworks.
Did the reworks already remove a lot of the basic ability clutter?
@@superleipoman no
Necro isn’t necessarily easier. It’s just not a poorly developed combat system. EoC as a whole is a good concept. But all they essentially did with it was add animations and some varying damage values to the attacks. Necro has synergy within the skill itself. Stuff that makes sense and is intuitive to modern combat in games like this.
So I guess Necro is easier only on the virtue that the other combat skills are poorly designed.
hey Ryan, i just wanted to thank you for all the amazing rs3 content you have been putting out. You are by far the best rs3 content creator and i hope you will continue to make lots of content for rs3. ryan for president! :D
Really cool review, thanks man. Do you have any thoughts on what style is most generally accessible, in terms of the cost of gear, upgrades, switches, ability tomes, and so on? I'm guessing it's probably still necromancy, right?
necro, yep. Most of it comes from the talent tree, (short) quests, and a relatively simple boss.
Necromancy > Melee > Magic > Ranged IMO.
Time for a melee guide..
Well done video! gotta try them reworked styles out, when im done with croesus
Incredibly useful information, thank you! I've not played for around 2 years at this point, but this has me excited to come back!
However, I'm a little lost on where to start! Maybe some videos regarding gear progression/loadouts could be useful at some point! I have about 1b gp to spend (with a decent range setup) so I don't expect anything amazing, but it'd still be nice to see the goals!
Ty so much for this video. I just got back into RS3 to try out necromancy but love to see that there been some buffs to the old combat styles. Hope u make some combat guides just like the necromancy one u made! helped a lot
i did a little melee and i like it but i think what i like about it was seeing all the big number and lot of like 20-30K hits
Do you need to do the precombat setup (like the tsunami and stuff) with ranged? I don't mind switching in combat but the precombat setup can be off putting since I like just going into combat and starting right off the bat. Like how much damage are you missing without it?
@RS Guy, what arrows did you use for zammy? I’ve been trying Wen and they are slapping.
Also thank you very much for making this vid, I’ve been waiting for someone to make this vid since the CB change.
Wen Arrows, they're sick
Long time twitch viewer smorc thanks for sticking to the grind it’s nice having a rs3 creator to watch
What's the best melee rotation if I wanted to AFK things such as abyssal beast?
Hey Ryan.
would you be up to do a full ranged DS rotation guide. trying to do mine i fall short on 300-400k, so would be good to have something to compare it with.
Is solo ranged vorkath now reliably doable, in your opinion and testing? (Before the buffs, it was almost impossible to take Vorkath+Zemmy down reliably, as you had to have some insane RNG - due to lack of sustainability)
Thanks for the content, lad!
P1-3 is great, after the flight is a world of pain
IMO the best way to range at Vorkath is to have a necromancy tank + a Range (or hybrid) dps.
Can you do a video on ranged arrow setups and switches under Elite Drac? I see you don't use the poison build even at Solak. Here I was still using cinderbanes and fleeting boots with my Edrac.
Would you be able to do a basic Dmg rotation guide with this new update? Or the rotations didn't really change? 😊
Do you have a guide on abilities to use for the three standard styles since the update to combat?
I just found out I could travel the boat in um to fight hermod and rasial in f2p, although it might seem really difficult with gear limitations and styles like necro capped at level 20, is it possible for a fun challenge?
So with how hard stuff hits now, does that mean bosses will be rebalanced to make up for this level of dps? Or will that be for only future content?
Could you put a post update melee guide? Many of us who have never done melee now are switching to it. Pvme is not updated.
Came back to try RS3 recently and your videos are a godsend! ❤
The gconc and battlestaff spam was ridiculously funny 😭😂 im a ranger, but that clip made me want to try magic lol
please make a guide on new rotations :)
I am so excited to try melee again! Everything has been necro which is fun but I'm excited to try everything with melee or ranged!
First of all thank you for this amazing content 😄 Ryan could you please make a ranged dps rotation guide? I almost have bis ranged gear but my damage is not even close to yours
what is the main arrow you need to use it is still ful the best?
Would love to see a DPS guide for each style
Can you please please please please do an in depth review on how to max your dps using all the fighting styles? Best in slot, alternatives, etc. There are no new magic guides and now would be a great time to make a tutorial on proper bar rotations, I love this game but I have no idea what I’m doing, and if im doing it well
whats bis gear to use for range with my t90 and sgb max i hit was 6k i dont see how its over powered
Csn you possibly make a rotation guide for all combat styles with updated gear and abilities? Please
Ryan, I want you to know that I feel like I know that advertiser's know if your viewer skips the segments with their ad in it. I want you to know I respect you and appreciate you so much. I always watch all of your advertisements, whether in video or prompted by youtube. I never skip through your ads with the hope that you receive a little bit more for all of your incredible effort into your videos, streams, and love for the game I adore more than any other game I have and have not ever played.
I used magic before necro and then switched to necro getting the T95 gear and perks. I went back to magic and man… don’t know if I suck at magic but the damage just didn’t feel like it was there and I felt like I was doing worse damage prior to the update. Necro just feels better since you don’t need to spend as much money to get decent gear and it preforms well.
I'm thrilled to see the other styles get some love. I never stopped using them. The upkeep on Necro just isn't respectful of your time on an Ironman. As much as I love it, and as powerful as it is, I use it sparingly.
hey rsguy! i love ranged too. i had a question about dracolich, is it worth getting the vambraces and boots over nightmare and fleeting?? ive got all the other exciting stuff, this is the last upgrade for me
Yes, both are bis over nightmares and fleetings
One thing I noticed was you used Etect with magic, but at least during fsoa spec Sliske with the tuska passive is bis
So can rangers help me here, do we use dbow still or zammy bow in the eof ??
Will you make rotation guides?
Was casually doin twins today and noticed alot of of 10k plus hits with mage and had to see what was going on. Didnt even know there was a buff. Might have to up my game
Hi, can you make a remake or rotation guide for all combat style after this update . It would be reallyhelpfull for a lot of players. thanks
Great video, Jagex did well with the updates but this video is super helpful to understand the best styles for different bosses.
Can you test this again with an early late game setup? Much lower budget gear, t95 prayers, no EoF maybe. That kind of stuff.
what perfect timing, I was literally just wondering this
I still absolutely love neco and put all my resources into getting bis setup for that, has changed my pvm experience. I used to be a melee magic player so I’ll dabble back there too, my range setup is… lacking about 6b gp lol
Any plans on releasing videos of rotations with new cb beta?
Do you know if the changed special attacks for the zamorak, saradomin , guthix clue scroll bows made it into the live game?
I'm happy that the combat System feels more balanced now. But i must say i'm a bit disapointed about mage i exspected beta lvl dmg. :(
Also every Animation and the overall combat flow, feeling is way smoother now. Only downside is the game is really easy now. I hope the next boss release is
difficult.
I agree with everything you said and i think the combat changes were in the right direction. I only wish they would change how each style plays like the flow. Necro is so good in terms of design and ability rotation setup you can play optimally with revo+ and manually cast your ults, no switches, no saving/staggering abilities for pop off moments etc its just more intuitive to play and learn. Gear cost aside ranged being top dpm is great but unless you do alot of pvm saving the extra few seconds off you're kill times for vastly more effort and apm doesn't compute for me and that's my biggest issue. hopefully they can start working on the flow of the other styles
I mean it’s pretty obvious they had to iron out the kinks and such before committing to a complete rework of the abilities and such.
I have almost no doubt that they plan on that in the future.
Been waiting to try the meme meta in sunshine stack at kerapac again since the update vut havent found time. Melee looks fun asf tho might give it a go
im trying to learn melee but at a slower pace . but i am rebulding my mage set up and im gonnna save up for fsoa i think ? ik mage is a bit behind the others but its what im use to and b4 nerco came out mage was my go to for everything .
I see you use the Edrac gloves and boots too. Would you use the gloves at poisonable bosses too? Missing movement during rapid fire also seems like a big one?
Cinderbanes are a toss up - Draco boost could outweigh them but cinderbanes are also great.
As for fleeing boots, choosing them is basically a qol (easier movement) > damage, technically Draco boost are always better
Really want to use bolg but don’t want to switch scape - how much potential do you lose then?
can you make a video on combat setup? havent played for years trying to get back in
Before necro, i was using range/melee for the most part. As i'm a t90 noob. It actually feels the same for me. Necromancy is still number 1 to use everywhere...
you dont really get to take advantage of the new hitcaps and crit buffs starting at t90. Power comes when you get all the specs, perks, crit buffs, and t95s unfortunately
@@catmankitty9504 Totally fair, but its also fair to say that t95 necro is way easier to get than any other t95 in terms of value atleast (with t95 necro gear u basically good to go. With t95 on any other setup u gotta get not just gear+wep but also all the extra expensive abilities n such). Just makes necro very dominant still to me atleast
@@MetalRaimon i agree
This is real exciting 😋 necro is great and all, but I was really missing using ranged. I was also hoping the sgb would drop a bit in price before they dropped the update, but oh well
Can anyone point me to an updated ranger dps guide for BIS gear? Or Ryan, are you planning to make one?
I’m comfy with bolg setups, but it’s the switching between deathspore and using dracolich effects that are new to me
My boy Carguy already has really good melee guide done and I think is really close to uploading ranged one
i think you should have mentioned wen arrow changes combined with sgb
Is necromancy still viable at bosses like rots for example?
I do hope Magic gets.. SOMETHING here soon, because it does feel like i'm being a dummy by not using melee or ranged right now, even with the places that i typically go in the game being a lot faster than before the combat changes, it does feel like magic still needs.. SOMETHING, what that is, i have no idea, but it does feel incredibly weak outside of sunshine/fsoa. I'd personally love a reason to actually wield the Fractured Staff beyond just , the special attack. Hopefully later this year we get something spicy to help it outside of sunshine.
It's been so long I don't even know if Animate Dead or the 20% dodge necro spell is better since they don't stack.
Well that necro spell doesn't work against anything that has 100% chance to hit you, something like Solak or Rasial himself, so animate deads overall reductions throughout those fights is still unmatched, there are more that i haven't listed but yeah.
@@MegaChickenfish
It sounds like they have plans for more passes at the combat systems that'll focus more on Magic. It's my favourite style too. I hope they get around to that.
@@MegaChickenfish The necro spell has additional plus if you're doing hit enr zam where you can dodge the small bombs that follow the red bomb, the downside of darkness tho it can make your resonance unreliable sometimes cause you'll dodge when you wanted to reso.
Darkness doesn't lock you into tank armor tho, still animate dead is better for high enr tanking on zammy atleast.
You probably are just using magic wrong. Magic is now stronger and more consistent then before the FSOA nerf. I believe I outputted 510k DPM over a 5 minute gem without switching spells whereas previously before fsoa nerf it was 450k and after fsoa nerf it was 420k with switching spells.
Ok so quick question I enjoy bossing but HATE the whole switchscape concept, I haven't played in a while but wondering if that mechanic is still relevant?
Any chance of making an update melee dps guide?
Does anybody know what arrows he uses? The one with the white tips? You can see him use it at raksha and zammy
Wen Arrows!
I recently came back to the game after not seriously playing it since 2015, the last time I went bossing in RS3 was when Araxxor was the latest boss, I find the prospect of getting back in to PvM overwhelming and I'm not sure where to start; any advice for easing myself back in to things?
For extra info my setup was ranged with tier 80/85 gear like Ports armour.
Do necromancy as it is also a little guide through various bosses. GWD2 and Elder God wars are also good bosses to get into it (especially arch-glacor)
gwd2 is great for beginners
Yes what the other comment said start with necro and learn to do rasial and glacor(both bosses are meant to teach combat) and some slayer to switch it up
Agree with all of the comments. Good advice
So for magic is the armadyl battlestaff spec useful again? (not FSOA)
No, only with FSOA
Do T97 review after hitchance changes please!
Armadyl bstaff spec good again?
Heck yeah I hadn’t been playing since the recent dxp but now looks like it’s time to grind reaper log
But how is this ranking for midgame and casual players? The type that might have 1 EOF an never use switches, and might be lacking some codex's?
Necromancy > melee > magic > ranged imo.
ive had nord for a while but i keep seeing people saying runescape will ban me for using any kind of vpn for some reason, can anyone clear this up because i would love to resume using nord, cheers
Can we get time stamps for the ads?
i thought dragonbane stuff didn't work on Vorkath, as he was classified 'undead', not dragon?
He's a little dragony on the side (the arrows, specifically work)
Can you do a test on decimation and saragbow in eof with this current meta? They seem worth eof'ing now. So the weapon with unlimited adren now has unlimited heals lol
You can use split soul with non-necromancy styles??? Didn't even realize that, figured it was style locked.
bosses are now mini bosses or a normal npc wıth this new combat , its fun and cool, but are we sure thıs wont affect the game play on long run? like we are skipping phases more often now, aint that dangerous for the experience?
Waiting for the range rotation guide
Been liking the cb update so far but am kinda disappointed in bolts being nerfed for using crossbow, mainly rubies, i will eventually get a bolg but without it kind of feels like the weakest style.. which is crazy considering having blights, ecb and sgb yet it still puts you rather low on the dps scale due to the ruby nerf
Hey Ryan, how do these compare with slightly lower gear? Say T90? :)
What are your thoughts on having all of this immense powercreep with no new combat challenges and no adjustments to past bosses? Doing 100k in 3 abilities is certainly fun the first few times but eliminating every mechanic by simply hitting through it grows old. Its the reason I stopped playing and these changes just seem like more steps down the same path.
Wish I could do 100k in 3 hits lmao. I think this will end up being like EoC that powercrept everything and look at where we're at now.
@@zeldapro18 thing is, you can work from this kind of combat unlike the old system.
THIS! I couldn’t agree more
If i have asc crossbows, should I switch into bows now since they got new arrows?
Bows are better, yes
@@TheRSGuy would the upgrade from asc cb be nox bow??
could you do a gear guide please?
RS3 community so lucky to have Ryan, absolute beast at the game and a DPS king. Imagine this on a piano lol.
melee should deal mondo giga damage but is riskier because being upclose and personal and in gear aspect best dps armor is lower armor rating that makes sense further playing to the style
identities for styles should be a thing, this being part of melee identity
Sadly it doesn't do the damage to back up the risk still.
The best style is simply the one you enjoy the most. Not always has to be a scientific calculation of damage per minute!
Based
RuneScape players tend to forget the game is for fun. I guess that happens when you devote most of your life to pixels.
Can we please talk about Dracolish set bonus being 5 pieces?
Given the changes I might just go back to magic tbh. It seems easier to use for me than necro atm. Since I’ve only played magic since the inception of my account 😅
Personally I'm sticking with necro for a while yet purely because I genuinely enjoy the play style and I'm also slowly working on getting 120 via bossing(more fun + rituals are a snooze fest imo). That being said, I'm saving up for a leng set and stuff because the updates to melee look super fun and I look forward to familiarizing myself with a style I haven't used in years! I was a range main before necro came out and I do blow the dust off my SGB from time to time but necro is so chill for long streaks at arch-glacor (0-1500%+). The super clean minion wave clears with necro are hard to put down at that boss tbh.
If the other styles didn't cost billions I'd consider the other styles but I was so happy when necromancy was like bis in only like 2bill
As someone who uses revo and isn't really good at cb how are these changes for us plebs?
Even seeing a massive buff from my perspective and generally having a much cleaner view of what's actually happening during my pvm thanks to the update it's clear there's still a hundred miles between whatever the heck is happening in these clips and anything I can do with my current rotation. Granted I don't have the grimoir, zamorak robe dps armor, and what on earth, do you have a _crossbow and hydrix bolts?!_ Where does that play into melee? I'm just camping trimmed mw and the trim mw bleed spear but I do have things like the best ovls, adren renewals, a finality, a zuk cape, a mahj aura, and chaos roar.
I can *do* things like Masuta and Ambassador just fine, but *skipping TWO ENTIRE PHASES by killing all 3 crystals in the few seconds you have up there?!* What are you made of?! That means your dps is at least *triple* mine with the same maxed stats and tier of weapons and power armor.
0:07 I mean just look at these clips, it's ridiculous! I'm pretty sure in the span of 2 abilities you just dealt about *86,000 + 48,000 damage.* _What?!_
There has to be a secret to this insanity that could lead me to finally actually doing 100% Zamorak in particular, the final phase where you need to somehow push out maximum dps while simultaneously mitigating 500 trillion damage.
2:10 Oh goody you show footage *without any explanation of what buttons you actually pressed or items made this even remotely possible.* What the hell is a "Blood Assault?"
*SLOW DOWN.* I don't even have the first idea what rotations are anymore following the rebalancing of abilities, let alone how *any* of them interact with anything in your inventory and equipment. That really warrants a separate video.
Nice combat beta review!
Time to buy my Bolg back. Sold it to get t95 necro when it came out.
I'm very stoked but also a tiny bit sad with the updates, my necro dps can't compete anymore 😅
Been absolutely loving melee
As a player whos currently on a break. These changes to an already complicated combat system makes it hard for me to return to the game. I’m sure theres many like me
Then I don't know what I'm doing wrong for melee because my kill time is less half that of my necro. I found that removing Whirlwind and adding Primordial Ice has hurt my kill times. Even with Berserk I rarely hit over 6000 and the ice stacks take FOREVER to build.
using berzerk aura?
@@sonnyjrlivehc7283 Side by side without auras Necro is still more than twice as fast. And Berserk aura isn't going to make me hit significantly harder.
