Just discovered these guys even though 80s & 90s were my "generation" of music. This song is moving and his vocals are epic just before the killer wah wah guitar solo. As a musician and singer I am humbled by the blending of Eastern and Western culture and music.
as an indian, something about this sounds familiar to the music that my ancestors would play on the tabla and sitar. how did this make its way to the west?
In 2003 at age 20 I went on an aeroplane for the first time from Newcastle to my new home in Verona, Italy... the whole experience of flying blew my mind but the icing on the cake was looking out the window as we flew over the alps with this track on my personal CD player and just seeing mountains for as far as the eye could see. Kula Shaker once did a gig in the Walthamstow Standard & unfortunately for them no bothered to watch them ( They came at 10.30pm) . The reason I remember this was my band was supporting them at 9.15 when the venue was still packed. A great gig for us ( encores , stage invaision) as well but a disaster for them . Anyway 4 months later their album goes straight in at Number One. Life is strange eh.
Thank you, Kula Shaker. I only just found you when my brother from Florida sent this song to me in Las Vegas. You’re awesome! I’d love to have a cuppa tea with you! (I drink coffee 😜)
Fantastic band. These for me were the greatest band of the 90's Brit era K came out of nowhere and I was amazed at how good the entire album was. . Them OCS, Suede and Blur. Reef were incredible too but more of a Rock band.
Came across them from growing up listening to random CDs from my Dad's CD collection..It's funny how now at 20 years old, I've gone back to listening to all their songs over everything else.. completely agree with the lad who mentioned they were timeless in the comments
This song has such sentimental value to me... grew up listening to this song... Listening to it today brings back memories of beautiful days spent with my maama who was a devotee, listening to the music, singing along and enjoying being in the peaceful and serene presence he always gave off. 4years now since he passed on. Jai Sri Krishna, I know he is at peace...
I was like HS when this first came out so it means 25 years ago? Yay! I found myself listening to this now because I read on Tiktok about Govinda and there I remembered Kula.Shaker made a song out of it.. aaaaaah 90s kid!
I first heard this song on a double CD compilation of British/UK alternative music around 1997/98 that I bought in a bargain at a local retailer named ‘ The Warehouse ‘ in Lower Hutt, Wellington, NZ in 1998 and while I was doing a night shift job I had the CD radio playing the music in the background. About 3am this song played echoing through and after hearing it? I was hooked. Has a really cool Indian sound and groove that I can’t get sick of. As for the band ‘ Kula Shaker ‘ very underrated and deserves more notice for its time.

As a Hayley Mills lifelong fan can't believe I just found out about her son Crispian fronting this band! Hayley seems to have the typical "nutty" Hollywood life even though she didn't live there! But seems happy now. Love this band.
Still listening to this. First listened to this almost 5 years ago. Never gets old. Very beautiful song. Still makes me feel in awe about life in general whenever I hear it. Wished thered be more bands like this.
Magnificent! I'm going to see them September 9th at Brighton Music Hall, oh yeah, saw them back in 1997, awesome show!!
Yes, great band, but underrated and timeless Vedic mantra ...who is happily listening in 2018 ? Greetings.
2023!
サマソニ最高でしたー!!!
So ethnic... So traditional... Awesome.... Too bad this band only few hit songs
Their entire catalog is spot-on! Not a bad track amongst them and there are more than a few!
My very very very first concert at the age of 14, in 1995 ❤️ in 1995 autumn. They were first part of the presidents of the usa - remember " lump ". I remember when kula shaker began, it was just ... Wouaouh 😍😍😍 indescriptible for me 🎵🎶❤️😍🌟🌠🌠🌠🌟🌟
Just discovered these guys even though 80s & 90s were my "generation" of music.
It was a profound experience 🙏🏻
Over 400 dislikes ? How can you not love this iconic song and fantastic album ?
Whoever disliked this are uncultured pigs.

Was 10 years old when I saw this song that time there was channel v it was coming on that channel loved it straightaway and still love it today after 25 years of the song
Same here, my dad used to love this song on Channel V.
Seeing them tomorrow again for the first time since Glastonbury 97
Hey, I hope they were just as good as they were at glasto 97, I was there too and remember dancing like a loon with a huge candle.
Govinda Jaya Jaya
Gopala Jaya Jaya
Radha Ramana Hari
Govinda Jaya Jaya
Literal meaning:
Govinda (Krishna, the Divine Cowherd), Glory, Glory
Gopala (Krishna, Finder of cows), Glory, Glory
Radha Ramana Hari (The Divine Mother, spouse of Krishna), Glory, Glory
Govinda, Victory, Victory
Gutzan oops. For more than two decadedes I always thought he said Mata Hari (the sun). Thanks!
I want the 90's back!! This song was actually quite good!!
+Marite Rossi the 90s rehashed the 60s so you could wish them back
Thank you, Kula Shaker. I only just found you when my brother from Florida sent this song to me in Las Vegas. You’re awesome! I’d love to have a cuppa tea with you! (I drink coffee 😜)
Terrific music, extraordinary vocal. Sorry for the band, lost in oblivion without getting what they deserved.
They've just brought out a new album.
touring later this year in uk
We're gonna be supporting them! Totally psyched!
Rudy Warman & The Heavy Weather just saw you guys at The Forum and was thoroughly impressed. 🤗
thats what happens when you make comments praising the nazis
En noviembre 2022 los tendremos en Concepción - Chile
Fantastic band. These for me were the greatest band of the 90's Brit era
K came out of nowhere and I was amazed at how good the entire album was.
. Them OCS, Suede and Blur. Reef were incredible too but more of a Rock band.
Came across them from growing up listening to random CDs from my Dad's CD collection..It's funny how now at 20 years old, I've gone back to listening to all their songs over everything else.. completely agree with the lad who mentioned they were timeless in the comments
the great lost band, the tragedy is so few have heard them,
+Clive Foston Very underrated.
+Clive Foston Not lost, comeback tour starts in November with new album.Enjoy!
+Ged Rooney ,That's fantastic thanks for the info!!!
Welcome!
If they were to rise up again at this era, they'd be accused of cultural appropriation.
Please update this gem with a 4K scan too!

Still Audio bliss - and a guitar tone that stands back for non one. How about some HD quali reboots - remasters in Hi-Definition of these videos ? ;))
Greetings from India,Kula shaker does an amazing job of explaining who Lord Krishna is, Love this song and group! Great video -- Best wishes!
Some bands sometimes just get it right first time. Their first album is still as fresh and exciting as it was yesterday in 1996.
It's heart wrenching to see that Kulashaker has only 19k subs . What's this world on too . Underated beyond words ....
Woke up this morning with this song in my head. That's how legendary it still is 25 years later.
That’s how I am here, too
These and cast were the most underated bands during the Britpop era...
Krishna! This is so lovely.
Boston gig show at Avalon club still the best.Of course they are going to NYC or Los Angeles. We get to see the band in a great environment.Bostons too small for you ?Lol.Love these songs
Only just discovering this band. My partner saw them when he was 15 and always talked about them. Wish I listened.
Krishna still listens to it everyday. He loves it ❤
Was 11 yrs when I found this album at the tiny CD shop in a small town in Japan. Fell in love instantly. After 27 years this band's music is still shining.
Rediscovering this song again since its release.....it hits differently now.
finally after 15 years found this song. i found it very accidentaly. its not because the lyrics or meaning i like... but its just the rythm and the music im attracted to it. thanks.
Have seen many bands in my 75 years of life and this band is the top ten greatest bands
First time in the year 2000. Still goes on ... n 2018 still continues. Gr8 band kula shaker.
The bass-line and the guitar solo are legend. Love it!!!!
I saw these in Amsterdam in 97, amazing and I still love em xx. Badly under rated xx
Imagine how much criticism this would receive if released today!
Oh that's right because only an Indian can sing Indian music.... uggg so glad I was born when I was... this song is fantastic. Opened my eyes to what their religion was all about.
Um ..no, I prefer to use my imagination for something more positive thank you! 😂🎉❤
