Not only was Jonathon funny, but Johnny was his best audience. They made a great team

It was a very good time to see comedy. Those times are gone and will not be back ever. I miss that time and the wonderful comedians that used to be presented on TV almost on everyday basis. God bless all of them!

This is just fun! Televised entertainment captured America! Carson was an icon on late night tv. Johnathan Winters was another thing/thought altogether!!! So much!! Thank You all for the times and the laughs! God Bless! (Red Skelton)! Thank You!

Love how Johnny would always start laughing before Winters started because he knew something hilarious would soon ensue!

      Brian Coffey
      Just like Don Rickles:
Don Rickles started cracking up when Foster Brooks just looked at him before he started his famous pickled routine.
As a matter of fact, the whole audience was giggling before Foster Brooks said a word.

They should have put Johnathan's brain in the Smithsonian. When it came to improv he made today's best computers seem slow. I have followed Johnathan's career since Jack Paar first introduced him in 1962 on the Tonight Show. He was one in a million.

Jonathon is brilliant.... and he did get locked up --- in the same institution that locked up my sister.... He was a treat. He was the comedy God. And he was a very warm and gentle man.

Hey we spoke to each other, wrote to each other (that's the pen & paper thingy), footballers drove the next model up from yours & had a mortgage, interest rates were 10% & rising, guaranteed too!, Music that made you dance, beer 15p a pint, petrol 35p a gallon, thus a alcoholic then was cheaper to drink beer than petrol unlike now it's cheaper to drink petrol than beer! Yup them thar' wis the days..

You can tell they really edited this. Would loved to actually seen the whole routine although I imagine they filmed much more material than they'd ever need for the hour show and then just intercut stuff in (like those "reaction" shots don't always match up with the actual jokes you hear).

It's not like old school comics couldn't have worked blue. Vaudeville guys like Burns and Benny could have. Berle. The list goes on and on. But these guys had societal standards that they had to abide by. Richard Pryor and George Carlin were also funny. And I also think they could have been funny had they had to abide by the same societal standards. But I must admit that it's a nice feeling to be able to laugh at something and not also cringe a little bit, too. As a kid I could have been playing on the floor while my parents watched these guys on tv. Now, on cable, there's porn on at 10 PM. Societal standards are all but gone. It's every person for themselves now. The media feels no responsibility for what they put out there.
