      Dude. Dude. Dude.
This should be... like 10 videos. For a bunch of reasons...
      1. The YT algorythm rewards continuous content, and continuous views. Making a series gives you both, this cannot be over emphasised in value.
      2. Kind of hard to digest and navigate for the viewer. Some people enjoy the monolith format, I'm sure, but YT isn't designed for that.
      3. More importantly: people looking for help with a certain aspect of the game who're searching for help can see what they're looking for and click on your video.
      4. It's easier on you to create multiple episodes rather than a BBC special.
      5. It lets you whore out your branding more...
      6. Later additions, changes, etc. are much easier if you have the episode format.
It also lets you expand on content much more easily if you decide you've got an idea later on.
TL;DR: Episode format is the best thing since spliced bread.
Bonus: at the end of a series, you can create this as compilation, possibly with retrospective. Don't forget to make a playlist. That's free content, without working.
Edit: 1:00: 'I hope to make this about a 15 to twenty minute video'
Oh god, that killed me, I didn't watch this yet...! Yeah. Exactly what I'm talking about. Dude. Episode format. It'll keep you on track in terms of content length. Instead of a 2/3 part series, you could have done a 4/6 part series, and I'm willing to be you left out some things that you wanted to include, but didn't because you realised the project had ballooned out of control, right?

The basics never become irrelevant that’s why they’re called the basics. Masters just have all basics become second nature through practice.
Even in PVP games the one who is best able to do the basics usually wins. Strategy really only comes into account at high levels of play.

I started my first playthough as the Lizardmen on normal. Around turn 40 my army was destroyed, 4 factions were attacking me at once, there was a plague on everything I owned and my only allies I had were the only other Lizardman faction half way across the map lol. So that's why I'm here now, to learn how to play this game without loosing to raiders and having all my cities destroyed by pirates.

Some constructive criticism: It's really impressive that you manage to speak freely like this for almost an hour but a few cuts here and there would have made the video even better. I realize that is a lot more work though and understand if it's not feasible.

    Positives:

    Makes certain points very clear
    Does not leave anything out
    Negatives:
You kept on pausing and stuttering which made it very boring to listen when you do that.

Ok, one last question I would imagine is VERY IMPORTANT...
You mentioned army upkeep costs. I have contiuenly have had a problem early/earlish game in either having too large an army. To the point where I go broke completely.
    OR
I only have 1 single standing large army. Except the problem with that is I do not have the flexibility to run all around my province and defeat each attacker. And when I try to split the large army in half to cover more ground. Its usaully is defeated then because it is too smal lol.
SOO, in summarization. For early stage players trying to control there 1st province while slowly expanding into another.
How many standing armies are appropriate and cost effective so we can defend without going broke because our forces are too big.
For example, in my current game. I fully control my province. BUT, i have two standing large armies to defend myself from either direction. The cost of these 2 large armies is that my economy is now full redzoned lol.
So I either have 1 standing army which cant protect my full territory/province. Or I have two, that protect me just fine. But are so large and expensive that I go broke and crumble from a destroyed economy.
It's a pick my poison lol.

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  4 года назад +1

Oh man.. I don't build a second army for some turn.. A good rule of thumb is, if you're pulling I'm 2000+ a turn, it's time for a second army. Your upkeep percentage increases per army you have. At the top of the screen, in that center section, look to the right. You'll see a set of flags with a little blue background on them. Hover over that and it'll explain more.
That's probably why you're having an issue. That second lord zaps your income so hard, without even having units in it

Hi ItalianSpartacus. I hope you see this comment.
I recently purchased 1 & 2 during the Steam Sales event. Having never played the games before and these being my first Total War games, naturally I started playing the campaigns in Warhammer 1. I haven't even looked at Warhammer 2, and so I have a question.
I heard if you play Mortal Empires in Warhammer 2, you basically have the same Old Race campaigns as Warhammer 1 but with a larger pool of races to encounter that comes with Warhammer 2.
      Is this true?
I don't really want to play Warhammer 2 just yet until I do a significant amount of single-player campaigns in Warhammer 1. If Mortal Empires is the same with just more races to choose from, I might restart my Warhammer 1 campaigns and start over in Mortal Empires.
Please help out a newbie :D

@@duukn My first Total War as well, and Warhammer 2 has quickly become my most played game on Steam. Tons of fun, tons of content. @X Phantom I've pretty much stuck to Vortex. I figure I'm still playing through the Warhammer 2 races, why bother with Mortal Empires? Vortex map is big enough, I don't usually travel to all the places anyway, so why do I need more? Why have longer turn times? I can see the appeal of not dealing with the Vortex victory conditions though, the standard vortex race and stack spawns get old. But I've been playing DLC races like Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast and they don't really participate in the vortex race, they have their own conditions.

@@duukn first 40 turns: see if you can win with less units (saving money on upkeep), maybe by using lords and heroes in the frontline a bit more. Especialy in the first turns a lord can demolish an army on its own. Even more so with a hero or single monster with it. Cheesy thing to do: charge your lord into the enemy and when all the enemy units gather around him, unleash a big AoE spell right on top of him. He gets hit once, the enemy gets hit 300 times. Then charge in your monster and let your lord run to a place less crowded. Repeat a few times. Profit. Just be sure your lord is tanky enough for this, and have units near to help if it gets serious. Later on you can't do this, but the first battles against 5 units are doable. Have your army set up in a defensive position so anyone who ignores your lord gets stomped on.
Under assault? Locate your army next to a city. When the enemy attacks, you controll your garison as well, and if they put you under siege, your garrison helps breaking out. When possible, let your garrison do the dirty work and take most losses. They replenish over time while they stay in the city, and they will not go anywhere anyway. Better then your own army suffering and needing 5 immobile turns to be ready again.
Do not end a battle when the enemy runs. Instead let your mages heal as much characters and single monsters as you can. Free health...
Try to be faster. Im in turn 15 now (normal/normal) and i took two settlements in the second provincie allready.
Not done it myself, but people suggest putting one lord to sea and have him explore all wrecks for gold and Magic items. Just skip the skull islands, they are defended by a large army. Anything else could yield up to 10k gold. Ima try myself next turn.

Never played a Total War game also this is the first time I've ever heard of it. It didn't seem like I'd enjoy it. I didn't really like the graphics and the game seemed far too confusing and boring for me but I prejudiced a lot before and I don't want to regret it so I thought I'd give it a chance. I'm downloading it right now and this guide really helped a bunch, thanks a lot. I might or might not do a follow-up to this. If you see this comment maybe put a reply so I update it.

Brilliant guide but something I noticed was you mentioned you couldn't enter March stance if you had moved in your turn, which isn't true. You can move your normal movement and then make the decision if you need the extra reach, so can be safe until you absolutely decide you need to move!

    • @italianspartacus

This the first game ever that I am discouraged to play before ever doing the very first action in the campaign. I have never played a Warhammer game before, and I don't even understand what that "first action" could be. I'm staring at the screen like an idiot, and am thinking "what the f*** to they want me to do?" Because after doing the tutorial (which only covers movement on the battlefield, nothing else. No, seriously. Nothing else) I understand... nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing is explained, the character just stands there on the map. What to do now? No idea. I don't understand what the game wants me to do, why I should do it, let alone how to do it. There's buttons all over the UI, and I don't know what any of them do. People need to watch tutorial videos a couple of hours long and done by other people to understand how the game works? Isn't this the task that the developers have, lead newcomers through all the first steps, so they at least know what is expected of them?
This feels like an april fools joke to me.

  • @thegentofculture

I hope they'll make a total war AoS game because frankly, I am new and these factions make no sense. I really thought I'd get to play the 4 chaos Gods directly, no such luck.
For you old schoolers, sure, this is fresh air but when AoS is already getting older, at what point do they stop making total war games out of retired GW games? They made a new one, out of the old world? I mean why not just expand this to end this world and then ... argh whatever... I'm sure the oldbies are dancing but this is ever so frustrating when you know none of the lore from this era, well a tiny bit but not enough to get excited about.
