If they had to end the streak Kane should have been one to do it, not only was he due for a great Wrestlemania match to book end his career but he debuted as The Undertaker's equalizer if anyone knew how to beat him, it would be his own Brother and i dont think thats a decision many people would take issue with since its fitting. I think what really hurt his character was going maskless for 9 years, his monster mystique and aura just dissappeared. the whole serial killer gimmick he did for way too long got uninteresting really fast, I know he just wanted to do something different but I feel like it kept him out of the spotlight, what made him a draw and a sight to behold was his mask
Kane will always be my favorite wrestler. Watching him tear through almost the entire roster in the 2001 Royal Rumble is one of my fondest memories from that part of my childhood. The chain match between him and Triple H was also very memorable. I think my favorite era was the Brothers of Destruction when he teamed up with the Undertaker, especially during the Invasion storyline.

My favourite debut for any wrestler. The gimmick was amazing and Jacobs brought lots to the table himself -- everything from adapting Undertaker's move-set so it resembled him without copying him to that mannerism where he'd tilt his head to the side which he got from seeing his dog do it.

So many false starts when the dude was always solid in the ring. Thank the gods he got the Kane gimmick. Seeing him when I was 6 made me fall in love with wrestling.
Kane was the first person I was ever afraid of. The contact, size and (of course) mask was truly something. I was 7 when I saw him and legit thought he had been burnt up. Lol
Excellent video. Do you have any explanation of Imposter Kane story too? I think it ended abruptly. Also, the role of excellent commentrators need to be appreciated. It made the whole experience even better. "That's gotta be Kane! That's gotta be Kane!".
3:37 actually one of the best decisions ever made by Vince was to keep using the diesel and razor gimmicks. It led to him being able to have first dibs and a cheap payout to buy wcw. So ......

Need more characters like this again. I seen someone called "Blue Kane" on the indies, it was some chubby guy in a blue kane outfit, coming out to "I'm blue dabba dee dabba die" this is the creativity the wrestling business has now?
They changed his character WAY too much. I loved him most in his Michael Meyers era. Imagine Michael Meyers in a suit and smiling. He'd lose the intimidation factor.
He's been in my top 5 favorites list since I first seen him and can actually remember him when he saved Undertaker & Rock from DX in the lumberjack. I was 6 then and I'm going to meet him August 5, 23 days before my 30th birthday. 🔥💪
Kane always had that makeup on under the mask. He put it on himself and all it was was black face paint. There's video of him applying it. Also the night he unmasked was just him with that face paint and he was never disfigured as the scars were mental, he was a psychological monster. He tells you in his podcast with Austin.
Imo the first half mask he was at his prime. He was explosive and athletic for a guy that big. There was also this dynamic that played with the undertaker being swifter and having more stamina that he would outlast and eventually get the win but you just had to weather the strom vs kane
Everyone shitting on him unmasking, but i recall thinking the gimmick had gotten stale when he was teaming with badass taker. I loved the 98 brothers of destruction but thought the 2000 version was stupid. The Kaninite promo, kane flirting with female interviewers, and the girlfiend angle were all made ridiculous
Kane great debut was at 1997 and they already destroyed him in 1998 by losing to Undertaker at WM and tag teaming with X-Pac and crying for him. Second great run was in 2001 when was Intercontinental champion and rule in Royal Rumble but he fail to win and quickly fail to mid card again. The last great rune was in 2003 when he lost mask and become psycho monster, but that also failed by feeding him to Triple H and again not winning WWE title. Yes, Kane was a great character and my favorite one, but his booking is the worst for any character in history.
Bro the way they ruined that character though. When we were kids Kane was the ultimate representation of scary, powerful and dangerous. They made a complete mess by the end
Kane was a absolute mountain of a man. When him and Taker went nose to nose shocked me because at the time I thought undertaker was the tallest and biggest in the wwf.
Kane has always been my all time favourite wrestler, and my unpopular opinion is that one of his best versions was the first year or so after unmasking
Kane's debut, his matches with Undertaker, the Inferno Match, the weirdness of the Urn and Paul Bearer... Kane, Undertaker, and Mankind are the peak of the "entertainment" part of Sports & Entertainment. The production value and storylines were insane. The Rock and Stone Cold were larger than life personalities, but, Kane and Undertaker were an actual piece of LORE. OG Kane was like a Dark Soul's boss. He was much more believable as an unstoppable force than Goldberg
I think that Glenn Jacobs found his ultimate success as Kane. This dude was big. A little eerie. Although that was his character. I rarely ever seen this guy get beat. Although Batista with the outside interference of the nature boy wwwwooooo!!!!! Ric flare did pin Kane. Now the big red monster is the big bad mayor of Knoxville Tennessee I believe.
Kane's entire costume and menacing appearance was directly inspired by Bane from Batman and Robin 1997. If you don't believe me watch the movie and then watch Kane's debut which was only 3 months after the film's release. I always knew those two had something in common when I saw the movie, but now after checking the release date of the film and his debut, I can confirm that there is definitely a connection, not the story but the costume and physicality alone, whoever thought up Kane's attire was definitely thinking along those lines, as hated as the movie is, its a visual masterpiece imo and they must've realized the potential and the impact such a monstrous figure would have in a wrestling format, wrestling gimmicks have always had a close kinship with movies and comic books anyway. Just look at Vader when he debuted with his Mecha kaiju samurai type armour (kinda reminded me of Shao Kahn) and Chyna the way she personified She Hulk with Batman aesthetics, similarly of course Beth Phoenix who channelled Wonder Woman/Jean Grey and She Hulk. It happens all too often in pro wrestling, more than they'd like to admit
2001 Kane was physically the most intimidating presence of all time
Unmasking Kane was one of WWE's biggest mistakes next to ending Undertaker's streak.

When kane and the taker teamed up as the brother's of destruction was amazing to watch them together
Hands down aesthetically the best wrestler of all time, I remember being scared AF of him as a kid that says it all about how well they made this character
This was the 1 person i wanted to know how he looked for years and had no clue with the internet not being around.
Lol
I remember the build up and his first appearance. One of if not the best ever.
"It's Paul Bearer, and that, that's gotta be... that's gotta be KANE!" -VKM
I seen an interview with Kane, and he seems like a very humble man. I like the Under Taker too. Seems like a very cool guy.
Great way to tell his story, Kane is a legend and is always my favourite!
8:01 I love that he did the Michael Myers head tilt during the close-up, it shows that Kane was intended to be feared!!
Kane is still my favorite debut ever
Not mind
The original kane and undertaker story got me into the show and sport, after they unmasked him it was just never the same
Excellent video.
So ......
I was so scared of kane back in the days! I always imagined how it‘d be to fight kane and how scared i would be doing it and making a plan to escape 😂 good old days as a kid
I did the same for undertaker!!!
Did you used to commentate on football on the BBC in the UK, you sound just like a fella off there
I honestly thought as a kid that the Undertaker's "gimmick real" name was Abel, since his Brother was named Kane. 😂
Dude!!!! That is AWESOME!!! I can't believe I didn't think of that!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Need more characters like this again.
I thought the best Kane was when he was unmasked. & That theme song is still BADASS!
Kane is a gentleman outside the ring.
I met Glen at a Crackle Barrel years ago , he is an incredibly nice person.
The Kane and Able angle was brilliant.
There will always be a place in my heart for the BIG RED MACHINE. I miss what WWF use to be. ATTITUDE ERA is gone and she ain’t coming back.
Great video. This could be done as a series looking back at wrestlers and their gimmicks
Kane never should've lost to The Undertaker at WM14. He was being built to be this unstoppable force before that loss. It wasn't the same after.
Kane was my favourite wrestler as a kid, along with x pac. Was buzzing when they teamed up.
At 2:41 that isn’t a picture of Glen Jacobs but rather a picture of Canadian athlete Glenn Kulka who was often mistaken as Jacobs at the time
Damn I thought this was coming today
Kane has always been my all time favourite wrestler, and my unpopular opinion is that one of his best versions was the first year or so after unmasking
Brilliant video as always thanks for the hard work you put in
For years ... and I mean many years. I couldn't and didn't accept that Glen Jacob's was Kane the entire time. I was certain he was replaced.
