I was right in front of Jimmy during this solo ..and my jaw was on the floor..it was one of the most amazing nights of my life ..if only they showed the solo in the SRTS movie...did I say right in front...all these years later and it all seems like a dream
Madison Square Garden doesn't hold all that many people, but it's amazing how at least half a million people on RUclips claim they were there that night.
Say what you will about how guitar technique has exploded since 1973, but this kind of stuff is still way harder to learn note-for-note than some of the faster, more linear, technical chops that are considered difficult today. All those in-the-moment-bends and short bursts / flurries of muddled notes. It's a feel thing.
@@stevenbayron5645 sadly I never made any tabs or transcripts. I think around that time I couldn't leave the house, maybe pandemic times, and so I just sat down with it and memorized it as note for note as I could get. I should have created a tab though while I was in the thick of it.
Just learn it by ear and slow it down with the RUclips playback feature. It's really fun to pick up some of these Pageisms and then they naturally come out in your improvisation
@@braydenkissell9247 I can't remember the amp settings. I think everything was set to noon or close to that but it was a Kemper profile of a Marshall 1959 HW 100 watt.
Great solo, and what memory you have! Jimmy surely improvised the majority of the solo but you learnt it note by note. That's very impressive. Congratulations you did a fantastic job 🤘🏻
@@diegolopezlira3267 thank you. I tried playing it live like that and it came across very stiff and unauthentic. It was a cool project and I learned a lot but it's still better to improvise to sound more like Jimmy. Thank you I really appreciate it😊

Woooow!
@@Jagshemasher yeah that goes up on my Mt Rushmore of guitar solos, right next to Hendrix Machine Gun BOG
My favorite JP solo. Such a variety of styles, and chaos, and mastery, and sort of neurotic energy. I guess that's what appeals to me.
Absolutely agree 💯 😊

There is not one thing about this that is not amazing. Wow. Nice playing and tone and axe. Much respect my friend.
Thank you for the kind words. Respect to you as well and thanks for listening 😊

Damn, the solo felt nice. Guitar looks cool too! Kudos!

Absolutely mind blowing. Great job! I’d say perfect. 👍
You are too kind. Thank you so much!!
Great stuff 👍, surely must be the greatest rock solo of all time.
Favorite cover solo in many years hands down! Rock on man ✊️
you hit the nail on the head and pounded it thru the 2x4. very nice playing and vvvvverry well executed! that telecaster looks very familiar...
Yeah, it’s a reproduction of the Telecaster Jimmy played when he was in the Yardbirds.
Great - one of the best covers of this on RUclips
Spectacular👏👏👏🤩
Real good job bloke. Awesome.
That was amazing to listen/watch.
Wow that's some beautiful playing!

Great Job Jared.. You really capture the vibe of 28th July 1973.
In your room setup, did the Tele sound better than your Gibbo for this?
No I think the Gibson would have sounded better but I was just feeling it on the Tele that day. Fender did a nice job on that remake.

Jimmy Page vintage Tele pups. They come stock with the Dragon Tele (Mexican Tele) that Fender started making a few years ago.

Is that an SRV guitar hanged on your wall?
There is a strat on the wall. Not an SRV signature or anything though.
