I think you're the first person who doesn't think Rocky and Adrian are the cutest couple ever and absolutely perfect for each other. And she did really like and trust him, that's why she went into his apartment and why she didn't even try to push him away when he got close to her. He didn't trick her and he didn't force her in any way. Didn't you notice that she leaned in to their first kiss? She was shy... Not stupid.

Apollo Creed won the fight by decision from the judges, but that doesn't matter to Rocky because he says he only wants to "go the distance" which means finish all 15 rounds without getting knocked out. He knows he can't win going into the fight, but he's gonna go in there and give it his best anyway. At the beginning of the film he doesn't respect himself. The promoter offers him the fight and his first answer was "no" because he didn't believe in himself.
Also, the person who changes Rocky's mind and makes him believe in himself is Adrian, specifically the scene where she yells at Paulie "You made me feel like a loser, well I'm not a loser!" Rocky also feels like a loser & seeing her stand up for herself gives him the confidence to stand up for himself and prove to the world that he's not a loser as well. The next scene is where you see him training hard with the famous Rocky music. Rocky inspires Adrian to get over her shyness & then Adrian inspires Rocky to believe in himself. Beautiful.
Nobody thought Rocky had a prayer of winning... not even Rocky thought he could win. Apollo Creed is the WORLD CHAMP and Rocky is just a local club fighter. But the fact that he went 15 rounds was a miracle.

You wondered who won. If you listen close when Adrian tells Rocky she loves him, the ring announcer says “And still the heavyweight champion of the world, Apollo Creed”.
When the movie was released, Apollo was declared the winner before Adrian even got to Rocky. Now it's declared during the closing moment to drown it out and drive the point home that it didn't matter to them.
It's like how is he weird he's fighting for the woman he likes he's trying to help her break out of her shell this girl wouldn't know because she's never was raised in the bad neighborhoods this character was raised in I love all people call others weird just because they don't act like they do😂

If don't see the connection of Rocky and Adrian you probably shouldn't watch the rest because what makes these movies is their relationship people love these movies because of Rocky and Adrian's relationship not sure what you're not seeing!
I am always amazed how people miss hearing the winner of the fight. When Adrian and Rocky are saying I love you, you hear the announcer say Apollo won the split decision. I think people get so engrossed on Rocky and Adrian they block it out.

The time and effort for Sly Stallone as an budding actor & filmmaker. To bring this story to the screen is an underdog story in itself. This was the No.1 film of 1976. Also it won 3 0scars (Best Editing, Best Director and Best Picture). His most endearing role and proof that he wasn't just some muscle-bound guy who got lucky much like Rocky. 45 years later and this saga still stands up. More than Boxing. Definitely about the heart. Hope you to watch the sequels and the Creed films as well.
This is considered one of the most iconic films I've ever seen, I've first seen this when I was a teen and I love it, great reaction video, however you had some misinterpretations in certain scenes, but all and all great movie.
Here’s my story: in 1976 or 77, I took my gf to this. At the end I couldn’t tell who won but I nearly passed out. I literately couldn’t get up for 10 mins (I don’t think my gf was impressed 😅) I think it hit me so hard because 1) the music 2) my dad fought professionally for 9 fights (9-0 record) 🎉

Personally I didn't like the fight scene in Rocky II. It was just Rocky standing with his arms at his side like a human punching bag the entire fight with no attempt to slip, evade or block punches. Rinse and repeat every single round.

Rocky had been dropping by the pet shop and flirting with Adrian for a long time. Her shyness, lack of confidence in herself etc. held her back from responding like she wanted so Rocky had to kind of push her out of her comfort zone just a tiny bit. Once she got past that point she felt comfortable with herself and with having a relationship.
Do you Americans finally recognize the difference between Americans and the ones that forgot our upbringing. And the difference between someone who is not American, just by their values and the jokes she made in every scene of this movie?
Glad more ppl like you are watching rocky. You know its easy to think about the cliches of sports movies-the underdog (white guy usually), romance, a tough/somewhat kind coach, and the campy villain. But this movie was the one that more or less popularized those trends. But at the same time, DOSNT. Rocky Balboa is the underdog, but he losses. mickey has legitimate reason to not train rocky at first. Apollo is over the top, but its more for show. Plus he isn't exactly a villain, its just business to him and he is smarter than rocky. Adrian isn't this drop dead gorgeous gal, she's shy. Pualie is that friend I think we do know at some point-he's an asshole but still not all bad. all of the characters are real ppl you could meet everyday. But as the Rocky 2 poster tells us "The journey continues..." so i hope you continue to follow what turned out to be one of the greatest and most unlikeliest film franchises of all time.

Apollo won the match but for Rocky he “won” too because he went the distance, 15 rounds, against the heavyweight champion of world and previously Apollo defeated all contenders by knockout after only a few rounds.
There are 3 judges in boxing who sit by the ring. Each of the judges gives points on a 10 point scale each round. The winner of the round takes 10, loser takes 9; points can also be deducted by the ref for illegal play - for example, punching below the waist or excessive holding, which can result in a round being like 10-8. In the event that the fight goes through all the rounds to the end without a knockout, TKO (where you get knocked down 3 times in a round - most fights have this rule, some does not), ref stopping the fight, or a disqualification due to foul play, the points are tallied up and whomever has the most point wins the match. A unanimous decision means all 3 judges agreed on the winner. A split decision means that the decision was 2-1. So Apollo got more points from 2 of the judges and 1 judge gave Rocky more points. It's easy to miss this detail at the end of the movie with all the commotion going around if you don't know the boxing rules. Back when Rocky was filmed, 15 rounds was the norm; now it's 12 and in some matches, even 10. Going 15 was deemed as too long and dangerous for the boxers after there had been cases of boxers collapsing after the fight and few of them dying (after all, they're taking punches to the head all night long). Note that this is a movie - a good ref in a real fight would not allow a boxer to take series of unguarded punches and will step in and stop the fight to protect the fighter. While we see both Rocky and Apollo beating each other to a pulp in the movie, in reality, the ref would've probably stopped the fight long time ago, declaring one person the winner. Again, it's a movie.
Opinions vary but this is the best Rocky of all of them ...only because it establishes the love story for all the rest and its not a boxing movie . ITS A LOVE STORY
This is not a boxing film in the traditional since. It is a love story with boxing. Apollo Creed didn't train, because it was supposed to be an exhibition fight. The problem was that they forgot to tell Rocky that.

Apollo Creed was dressed like George Washington because it was 1776, which was the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
To be more specific on the split decision (how many rounds the judges think the fighter did the best) -- 8-7 Apollo, 8-7 Rocky, 9-6 Apollo. Mickey in the start of the second movie thought Rocky should've won...and he would've had that first score card went just one round the other way.
The limit when this was made was 15 rounds, and since has been reduced to 12, and less for lighter weight class fights. In all the Rocky movies, the announced weight for Rocky is actually below the lower limit for the Heavyweight bracket at the time the movie is Madeleine. In reality, he would never have been able to fight Apollo simply because Rocky was too small. Its just a few pounds ' difference but rules are rules.
That 14th round is the greatest round in cinema history Apollo thought he had Rocky beat Rocky got up Apollo looks around and looks at him as if to say I can’t beat him

Rocky had been dropping by the pet shop and flirting with Adrian for a long time. Her shyness, lack of confidence in herself etc. held her back from responding like she wanted so Rocky had to kind of push her out of her comfort zone just a tiny bit. Once she got past that point she felt comfortable with herself and with having a relationship.
Do you Americans finally recognize the difference between Americans and the ones that forgot our upbringing. And the difference between someone who is not American, just by their values and the jokes she made in every scene of this movie?

Hate to break it to you but that actress was indeed 12 or 13 when this was filmed.
Glad more ppl like you are watching rocky. You know its easy to think about the cliches of sports movies-the underdog (white guy usually), romance, a tough/somewhat kind coach, and the campy villain. But this movie was the one that more or less popularized those trends. But at the same time, DOSNT. Rocky Balboa is the underdog, but he losses. mickey has legitimate reason to not train rocky at first. Apollo is over the top, but its more for show. Plus he isn't exactly a villain, its just business to him and he is smarter than rocky. Adrian isn't this drop dead gorgeous gal, she's shy. Pualie is that friend I think we do know at some point-he's an asshole but still not all bad. all of the characters are real ppl you could meet everyday. But as the Rocky 2 poster tells us "The journey continues..." so i hope you continue to follow what turned out to be one of the greatest and most unlikeliest film franchises of all time.

Apollo won the match but for Rocky he “won” too because he went the distance, 15 rounds, against the heavyweight champion of world and previously Apollo defeated all contenders by knockout after only a few rounds.
There are 3 judges in boxing who sit by the ring. Each of the judges gives points on a 10 point scale each round. The winner of the round takes 10, loser takes 9; points can also be deducted by the ref for illegal play - for example, punching below the waist or excessive holding, which can result in a round being like 10-8. In the event that the fight goes through all the rounds to the end without a knockout, TKO (where you get knocked down 3 times in a round - most fights have this rule, some does not), ref stopping the fight, or a disqualification due to foul play, the points are tallied up and whomever has the most point wins the match. A unanimous decision means all 3 judges agreed on the winner. A split decision means that the decision was 2-1. So Apollo got more points from 2 of the judges and 1 judge gave Rocky more points. It's easy to miss this detail at the end of the movie with all the commotion going around if you don't know the boxing rules. Back when Rocky was filmed, 15 rounds was the norm; now it's 12 and in some matches, even 10. Going 15 was deemed as too long and dangerous for the boxers after there had been cases of boxers collapsing after the fight and few of them dying (after all, they're taking punches to the head all night long). Note that this is a movie - a good ref in a real fight would not allow a boxer to take series of unguarded punches and will step in and stop the fight to protect the fighter. While we see both Rocky and Apollo beating each other to a pulp in the movie, in reality, the ref would've probably stopped the fight long time ago, declaring one person the winner. Again, it's a movie.

This is not a boxing film in the traditional since. It is a love story with boxing. Apollo Creed didn't train, because it was supposed to be an exhibition fight. The problem was that they forgot to tell Rocky that.

To be more specific on the split decision (how many rounds the judges think the fighter did the best) -- 8-7 Apollo, 8-7 Rocky, 9-6 Apollo. Mickey in the start of the second movie thought Rocky should've won...and he would've had that first score card went just one round the other way.

In all the Rocky movies, the announced weight for Rocky is actually below the lower limit for the Heavyweight bracket at the time the movie is Madeleine. In reality, he would never have been able to fight Apollo simply because Rocky was too small. Its just a few pounds ' difference but rules are rules.
