Vader is really one of the most tragic villains ever. The emperor is fully to blame, not anakin

While I agree that Palps is to blame for everything as he pre-meditated everything, Anakin is absolutely responsible for his actions once he knew the truth of things. He was super powerful in the force, he knew Palpatine lied to him and stoked his fire and he chose not to redeem himself sooner. He chose to hurt and kill and dominate because he was angry. Anakin can’t get a free pass. He was certainly brainwashed up to a certain point but there is plenty of writings out there to indicate Vader knew what he was doing and he still wanted to rule, he just wanted to end Palpatine to do it. That’s not redemption. Luke saved him, no doubt. That finally made him not care what happened to himself which was what redeemed him, self sacrifice, finally. Something he was not willing to do up to that point.

I've always found it intersting how in-line the SW story is with the Bible and man's eventual redemption.

I'm not sure if I wanted it, but I'm kind of surprised that we never get a scene with any kind hostility toward Luke, from either Han, or Leia. They certainly have some understanding of the corruption of the Dark Side, and Luke might know better, but he tried to kill their son, and then when he couldn't even do that right, pushed him into the arms of the First Order, so it's a bit odd that they just missed Luke, and accepted what he did. Sure, when we see them, they have the benefit of hindsight, and maybe just came to terms, but still surprising.

I like this cause it never seem right to me that only Legends Leia forgave Anakin and not Disney Canon

Anakin murdered countless people, including women and children. He created countless orphans and tore apart countless families. He killed his own wife.
But he was still redeemed because of a decision he made 1 hour before his death, and gets to live forever as a good Jedi force ghost. lol.

Anakin was plagued by dark side. It was a part of mystical force. It corrupted force and feeded on anger and hate. Almost like an ilness, it promised the user power and gave whispers of bad thoughts into a person. Mostly also is said to be overriding person's personality even soul, this is why Jedi warned Anakin not to give into anger, hate. That's also why people make difference between Anakin and Vader by calling Anakin which was lightside character with inner darkness. When Palpatine gave Anakin name Vader he wanted Anakin to loss everything so he ordered an assault on temple - Knowing that even if he carried the orders and wanted to return to lightside he would never be forgiven. When he adopted name Vader, he was consumed by dark side - which promised him power but feeded on his fears, hate and anger it projected him into outlook that he was unstoppable, powerful and Sidious played further on that part feeding him with pain which also strengthened this bond. Person consumed by Dark Side would often do these kind of things, i mean look at Sidious in Legends i think when Luke tried to call his spirit. He said genuinely that Vader was his monster, he enjoyed changing little innocent child which was Anakin into monster known as Darth Vader
As for killing, he never killed Padme - Palpatine lied to him, in order to make him angry and full of pain. He force choked her in anger, but she died of heart break and as Plageuis researched Midichlorians which were cells in symbiosis with human also were affected by emotions (At that time Padme was having most midichlorians in the world, because of Luke and Leia. It could have caused her to die due to affected stress and loss of hope.
And another clarification is that like George Lucas said this story was about Anakin. They didn't mean to make tragic tale out of this at first but it happened, Anakin was written to have destiny which could be interpreted in many ways but nobody specified that Anakin would destroy the Sith (corruption) as Jedi.
This is part of the prophecy: [
Only through sacrifice of many Jedi will the Order cleanse the sin done to the nameless.
The danger of the past is not past, but sleeps in an egg. When the egg cracks, it will threaten the galaxy entire.
When the Force itself sickens, past and future must split and combine.
A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored.]

Let's not forget that Anakin also did a lot of good before his fall. So it's not just for that one decision to save Luke from the Emperor. Having weighted his entire life we can say Anakin earned a second chance and it happened to be be the moment he saved his son that he took that opportunity to redeem himself.

I think the reason Ben turned is because she couldn’t forgive Anakin.
Now obviously she has every right not to but anger->hatred->suffering.
Leia saw similarities between her son and father and I’m sure that colored her relationship with Ben and as a child he picked up on that.
Then when Ben learns the truth this idea only adds to his decision and makes things worse, because in his eyes his mother thinks he’s a monster just like his grandfather and that’s why she always avoided him and sent him away
