I just started learning to sit and one thing that really helps the transition is gripping the front of the wheel with one hand as you sit. This helps to pull yourself onto the seat.
Hahaha thanks bro, and glad you found value in it, I’ve been planning out more content that will help out the community coming soon. And thanks for feedback 🦾
They should call you Mr Smooth. Those were some nice smooth 180s! I’m an older dude, knees aren’t so great anymore. I’ve been riding manual UC for years mainly when I was younger. I’ve been Onewheeling for about 6yrs now. I took a EUC stand up lesson a few months ago and right away thought it needed a seat. I was able to ride standing going slow pretty fast but my prominent left knee didn’t like it much. I really want one to ride seated only. I prefer riding sideways (surf style) standing. I’m about 250lbs and want one for proper seat height with no front pads set up for” sitting only”for cruising roads and smooth trails. I don’t want to pay more than about $2k. I’m just looking for a new “drug” . Honestly I don’t see myself going faster than 35ish mph if that. 20 is more than enough for Onewheel for me. I’m thinking a higher tork wheel between 16-20” might be a good beginner if I can get the seat high enough. I’m just an average 5’ 10” with average inseam. I would appreciate any ideas from anyone.
Can you please talk about pad placement for seated riding. I have Clark v3 on my Sherman max and am quite locked in. I have 2 seats for my Sherman. Zoom wheels seat and Clark seat. I been putting off learning seated cause I hadn’t seen good instructions till now!! Thanks brother!!🙏
For my set up I have standard pads that I bought off of amazon, and below I have stock pads that come with most begode wheels. I like the top "standard pad" because when I am seated it is plush and comfortable, so in times where I need to squeeze my knees for more control over the wheel, it isn't irritating or bothersome on the side of my knees. I placed the smaller pads down by my feet because it amplifies the performance of seated riding experience because it gives my heels the cushion and friction it needs to control the lower half of the wheel. (it should be noted that most people place pads closer to the pedal to assist with jumping the wheel. I’ll make a video on it soon.
Thanks what I find difficult in seated riding is making sudden stops or sudden changes in direction. I’m also worried about my visibility. So I think seated seems more dangerous in areas where there is traffic. Any suggestions for emergency stops or sudden changes in direction while seated?
I’m going to make a more advance versions since people seem to like this one. Sudden stops are impossible moving any faster than 20mph seated. I stand for my stops, a transitional stop is the best way to stop imo. As far as movement and change in direction, you have to be intentional with your shoulders knees and toes lol like the song, take your time learning this. Always be aware of your visibility seated that is a smart defensive thing to be aware of and it will always be relevant because we are to small when we are seated, so only in environments where you are visible or don’t need to worry about visibility.
All this you forgot the most valuable point: Depending on how tall and short, it drastically changes how you can ride seated or not. the taller you are the harder it is properly sit and balance and push with legs and the length of leg get in the way of sitting and pushing and stopping etc
Making a seat for my Shermax right now. I made a shorty half size but I don't want the pressure on the center plastic so I'm redoing it. I probably should try it first before doing more work but I kinda like the look of the seat over the whole top. Good video man. Funny shit is I'm right across the street from the ice skating ring so I might go there to practice. Keep it up!!!
Yoo that’s going to be lit, send me the picture of the finished product on my ig. And word hahaha small world bro, yes that’s a good place to practice, did my video help any?
@@BlackElroy yeah, I like the idea that seated is easier than standing to learn lol. My bro got the hang of the MSX in less than 30min. It took me like 2 hours and then like two weeks before I felt confident on the streets. However I keep instinctively trying to sit on my shermax. So I know it's gonna be a better experience.
How much more dangerous is the unicycle when you have to make sudden stops from a seating positions going say 20 MPH VS being on an Ebike? (on an Ebike that weighs say apx 90 pounds to 105 pounds) I worry less about being thrown stopping suddenly head first, but I worry that's more likely the case (flying off head first on a unicycle )
The most important thing is having a wheel big enough to sit on comfortably. Many of those 16 inch wheel or lower ain't it if you are over 6' feet in height. I learn to ride seated on V12 but it is not too comfortable and my feet are literally on the front edge of the pedal. And that V12 seat is trash... Standing up and sitting down on the V12 ain't happening. My feet barely on the pedal. I have to start seated to ride seated or start standing to ride standing, ain't no transitioning on that small wheel
3:50 There's unicycle-mounting . . . and then there's *Unicycle-MOUNTING* [This method also requires: smoking a cigarette & taking a cold shower when done] 🤣 PS: Fellow NYer here: Born/raised in the 607, now up in the 315 / 585 🤘 Sam -

Is there something appealing about seated riding? I love standing up and have no interest in sitting down. To me it would be like riding a surfboard on your butt instead of using your legs and carving. Plus the visibility looks horrendous with you sitting down so low. No criticism, just curious about the appeal.
