Agree. Such a diverse show. Not just focus on Entertainers. Thoroughly enjoyed this segment. Wish more people would follow the show for Mr. Colbert to continue to do this sort of things.

HAM radio ! How boring ! They need to send up willing sex partners for the astronauts who are doing long term missions on the ISS. Yes, they CAN go without it (sex) for a long time, but why would someone want to if it isn't necessary ? They're going to end up having to investigate SPAAAAACE SEEEEEX at some point anyway if we are to colonize. Americans will be able to just tune in to a NASA live feed instead of forking out a monthly porno fee for their favorite site. It's a win-win situation ! Being a good, loyal American I'll volunteer to play a part in the program I've proposed. I volunteer to personally evaluate the ability and skill of every female applicant to ensure they can handle any problems that might....ahem.....arise, make sure they've had their Distemper, Rabies, Measles and all other necessary shots. As Todd would say- "You're Welcome for my service!" ;>D
+highspacefox the rule goal isn't just for scientists to love space it's for everyone. all of us. an artist so forth everyone so we can never pull a bullshit move again and slow our national investment into space.
Stephen you are an amazing entertain- with a wickedly quick mind. You show is intelligent, thoughtful, and engaging. A million times please don't lower the quality of your fantastic show by referring to the Kardashians. Thank you!
Kids today have no clue how insanely simple this has been made... we never saw live feeds or even rarely any video until months after they returned. Now a live feed... incredible. Next 25 years we will be live chatting with people floating around another galaxy probably... nuts.
+derty.QWERTY42N The original moon landing was a live feed. I was six years old and sitting on my dad's lap as we watched it on TV. He leaned over and whispered "You should remember this. This is important. No human has EVER done this before." And I always have remembered it. :-)
If only the lightspeed barrier wasn't a problem for information transfer....even for a ship out at Jupiter it would take hours to transmit and recieve due to travel time
+GoldsPersonal it is completely fake trust your senses.this is green screen, harness's, and hes is on zero-g plane. see how he doesn't move and his arms are always crossed? because of the harness. see how he goes from perfectly still too bobing and floating around a bit from time to time? its the plane going up and down. you look all this stuff up...its all fake...and it seems colbert is in on it. "looks like your getting you dust sucked" he knows he actually does fuck all.
+GoldsPersonal There is a rope attach to the floor to help him stay on the "ground". When he bounce back down, he's just pulling the rope with his feet.
+Ant F WOW you opened my eyes to something that makes no sense. LOL using harness's on a zero-g plane.. well damn he must of been in space then to keep him at zero-gs that long. but wait why would they need a zero-g plane if they are using harness's. come on if you are going to troll, think it threw before posting.
TommieRizzoTV you're a brainwashed idiot the planes zero g effect is very obvious and different from zero g your supposed to have in 'space'. They need to hide the fact that hes on the plane and still need zero g effect for floating objects like that microphone. You got it with your own eyes, it looks fake because it is. Trust your senses not what they tell you. do the research, you probably didn't even know the zero g plane existed. If you listen closley, you can HEAR the jet engines in the back round. As well in many other nasa iss "footage"
You got to love both Mark and Scott Kelly. On February 12, 2019, Mark Kelly announced that he would run as a Democrat in the 2020 United States Senate special election in Arizona. Marks brother, Scott Joseph Kelly (born February 21, 1964) is also an American engineer, retired astronaut, and naval aviator. Mark Edward Kelly is an American astronaut, engineer, and retired U.S. Navy captain. He is the author of multiple books as well as an aerospace executive and consultant, and is the Democratic nominee in the 2020 United States Senate election in Arizona.Kelly married U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords of Tucson, Arizona, on November 10, 2007, in a ceremony presided over by Rabbi Stephanie Aaron, and attended by his STS-124 shuttle crew and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. Reich toasted: "To a bride who moves at a velocity that exceeds that of anyone else in Washington, and a groom who moves at a velocity that exceeds 17,000 miles per hour."] The couple met on a 2003 trip to China as part of a trade mission sponsored by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. In 1995, Kelly and his brother applied to NASA to become astronauts. He and Mark were selected to become astronaut candidates in April 1996; the first relatives to be selected in NASA history. In July 1996, Kelly moved to Houston, and began training in Astronaut Group 16 at the Johnson Space Center. On completion of training, he was assigned to work on the caution and warning system on board the International Space Station.
Trey K Communication signals don't go direct, they're generally relayed through a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite that sits in Geostationary orbit further out. There are unedited videos of the ISS crew talking with NASA, and even then there's a clear delay (you can hear the messages from Earth "echoing" about a second or two behind on the astronauts' end)
Mr Drayson It would depend on the location of the ISS above earth. Either way, it has nothing to do with the time it takes for the signal to travel, only the technological ability. That's always changing however.
I always get a good laugh from the jokes Stephen hides in the background. the captions below the split screen windows said "Light as a feather" under Scott and "Stiff as a board" under Stephen. Another said "Milky Way" under Scott and "Broadway" under Stephen lol.
With less gravity their arms tend to float. Crossing his arms keeps them in place. No wires. How would he be able to do the flips if there were wires???
Every time the camera goes back to split screen mode. The location names are new jokes. Well played sir, well played. "ISS. CBS. Upper york. New york. Up. Down"
That was a stellar interview. Wonder if they have a guitar aboard. Well they can't drink, so a nice jam session would be cool. I'd go up to do a gig in that joint anytime NASA, call me. LoL!
I think the reason why there is a delay in the laughter is because the editors chose to cut out the delay in the feed to make it look like the two of them were talking. I thought about it, particularly when you see Stephen laughing midway when he sees the "Major Tom to Ground Control" caption while Kelly was talking. the sacrifice is that it seems like the audience and everybody is laughing. poor editing, basically.
Stephen: so how do you know when to go to sleep What the astronaut should have said: Well we triangulate the light in the sun and then determine the constant speed at which the IS is going and determine the trajectory of the IS...or we just use a watch
I love how his response to the Kim Kardashian comment is simply "Okay" because he knows what he is doing is infinitely more important than whatever the fuck Kim "does" or "is".
See! This is what happens when you live in space, You lose your hair, your legs and arms get lanky, your eyes get big and black and your skin turns grey! Scott was on stage one!
I just noticed the names changing at the bottom of the screen
+Francoberry i was just about to wonder in frustration what is up with the random laughing. i guess that's it!
+Francoberry Astronot
+hey ... hi,,, did you know the astronauts sister in law was shot in the head? and a congress woma n or something lol
+Francoberry Thanks, I had to rewatch that. Funny stuff.
+Francoberry dude i know i had to watch again
Props to Stephen for inviting the most diverse guests
absolutely!!
I love it! Makes him unique from other late night shows.
Agree. Such a diverse show. Not just focus on Entertainers. Thoroughly enjoyed this segment. Wish more people would follow the show for Mr. Colbert to continue to do this sort of things.

+SineOccasu That's when I first noticed they had changed from the first caption, too. I had to go back to watch the rest...still managed to miss Up - Down, though.
Okay. -- Scott Kelly
Loving the David Bowie tribute.
+UndeadSon The British guy on there called Tim Peake is actually a Major, and yesterday he was stepping through the door. It's amazing that he didn't mention it once.
+Yimello Ground control to Major Peake doesn't sound very catchy, though.
+smokejc It'd be Ground Control to Major Tim, duh.
I had to watch this twice after only noticing the changing captions half way through
I love how the captions changes every time you see both of them on screen XD
I didn't notice till the 6 minute mark. Was confused why the audience was randomly laughing.
Of all the amazing and diverse guests Stephen has had, this one was absolutely out of this world!
When he returns to Earth, he returns changed... into The Thing.
+Buenomars who knows ... space is scary and fascinating.
80s film The Thing thing or Fantastic Four The Thing?
+supyoist Probably not the Addams family thing.
If you didn't notice, the captions changed every time. 😂

You missed E.T and Phone Home
I am seriously impressed with the job everyone at the Late Show is doing. Great interview, well done!
The reason they picked him for this mission, is that if he dies, his twin brother can use the same Avatar body.
He is floating like a genie lol :D
I have watched this several times. Love both these guys.
Nice David Bowie tribute there.
Also, he FINALLY mentions the C.O.L.B.E.R.T.
Okay I'm dumb here, where is it ?🤔
Okay found it 😂
Anyone else enjoy the captions underneath the side-by-side shots?
+Tuna - not me. least favorite part of the whole thing. should have used a different font.
bless him they should provide them with more human interaction
+qasim mumin I'm guessing they talk to their families on a regular basis and contact Earth whenever they want. There's no reason not to.
+qasim mumin yeah I mean he posts pictures on instagram every day, they got that space 4g
+qasim mumin They actually talk to people at random sometimes via HAM radio. The frequency is published on the web in multiple locations.

I agree, maybe 10 or so Astronauts at a time for psychological reasons alone.
Bless this man! he has sacrificed his life to help humanity to learn what we need to know, to eventually begin our life in space.
What a pukey comment. The Kelly twins are frauds.
This is TV gold! Stephen is in a league of his own.
Did anyone noticed the camera with huge telescope lenses on left
+Karan Chaphekar Good god look at those cameras!
+Karan Chaphekar
look at all those toys they get to play with up there! how can any rational person interested in science go crazy in space?!
+highspacefox the rule goal isn't just for scientists to love space it's for everyone. all of us. an artist so forth everyone so we can never pull a bullshit move again and slow our national investment into space.
+Karan Chaphekar Nikon seems to work well in space
+Hariz Hasyiem you are such a hassel
Stephen you are an amazing entertain- with a wickedly quick mind. You show is intelligent, thoughtful, and engaging. A million times please don't lower the quality of your fantastic show by referring to the Kardashians. Thank you!
Glad NASA is getting more publicity
+Ben Hamilton Hi.
Now this is a great interview with a great person doing something great. Did I mention how great this is?
Kids today have no clue how insanely simple this has been made... we never saw live feeds or even rarely any video until months after they returned. Now a live feed... incredible. Next 25 years we will be live chatting with people floating around another galaxy probably... nuts.

+jenwhitesides I was 15. It was probably the greatest thing I ever witnessed.
If only the lightspeed barrier wasn't a problem for information transfer....even for a ship out at Jupiter it would take hours to transmit and recieve due to travel time
it's insane to think we can actually have live HD interviews with people in friggin' space now.
The names under them were crackin me up.
the captions are amazing
He's bobbing up and down like a genie ..
He's a bit shy and awkward, but the interview is fun. Love some of these captions.
It almost looked shopped, the way he is bouncing up and down. How amazing that must be. What a great job!
I love watching nasa's live feed. They do a weekly broadcast live with the space station. So cool!!
"astronaut" "astronot" and "space walker" "dogwalker" is amazing
What other late night show gets astronaughts who are in space on their show? ONLY COLBERT
well actually he was on Jimmy Fallon.
I hereby attempt to predict the future:Somebody in the comments is going to say : FAKE, EARTH IS FLAT, SPACE TRAVEL IS IMPOSSIBLE,WAKE UP SHEEPLE.
Good prediction man.
+dporiua Nope.
FAKE, EARTH IS FLAT, SPACE TRAVEL IS IMPOSSIBLE,WAKE UP SHEEPLE-
What!?
Earth is fake! It's impossible for space to travel! Sheep make me go to sleep!
+dporiua also, don't forget: ILLUMINARTY!!!!!!!

Look at the captions everytime they show Stephen and Scott in boxes on the screen. They change every time 😂
I cannot stop staring at those Nikons
+Tetsu Hoshi Same! :)
Impressive that they have zero transmission lag, he responds instantly with no delay. CNN must have some ghetto ass networks.
+LulzRoyce Shows like Colbert's aren't broadcast live - it would be edited after filming to get rid of the delays
+Mr Drayson The distance is no further than any distance on the surface of earth. There shouldn't be any delay.
Trey K Communication signals don't go direct, they're generally relayed through a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite that sits in Geostationary orbit further out. Awesome, what a great interview.
I always get a good laugh from the jokes Stephen hides in the background. the captions below the split screen windows said "Light as a feather" under Scott and "Stiff as a board" under Stephen. Another said "Milky Way" under Scott and "Broadway" under Stephen lol.
i love colbert ! his guests are all awesome.
I love the captions under each of them. It changes almost every time they’re shown. 😂
Lmao the names on the bottom kept changing. What a nice touch!
he's standing like goku
lol
Mr.Stephen, So cool !!
That's impressive, this was a great guest.
The changing captions were genius.
Those Caption changes thou... :-D
At "Weightless and Holiday weight" I realized they were doing this the whole time and had to go back and rewatch. lmao
MORE SPACE!!
funny how astronuts or actornauts always stand with their arms crossed to hide the wires............
With less gravity their arms tend to float. Crossing his arms keeps them in place.
No wires.
How would he be able to do the flips if there were wires???
I'm glad he did a back flip, that's the only reason I watched the interview.
Notice the captions underneath them that change periodically ;)
The way he's standing really makes it look like he's in a harness.
I love it when Colbert throws in Ren and Stimpy references.
My first thought was that he's missing Star Wars.
Every time the camera goes back to split screen mode. The location names are new jokes. Well played sir, well played.
"ISS. CBS.
Upper york. New york.
Up. Down"
4:28 He blushes harder than a sunburn.
That was a stellar interview. Wonder if they have a guitar aboard. Well they can't drink, so a nice jam session would be cool. I'd go up to do a gig in that joint anytime NASA, call me. LoL!
They do. Chris Hadfield's uses it in his cover of Space Oddity
The future of humanity is space.
Think about this... There's no washer and dryer on the ISS and there's only limited amounts of space for personal things.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Steven=Astronot🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 great interview! great restraint on both sides🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 picture subtitles
👍👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't know if you noticed, but this guy is bold. He is turning to an alien.
Well, they didn't put him up there for his sparkling banter
This was great
Nice interview.
look, it's the Tryanids and Ork Boyz you really need to worry about, not space madness
*****
naa, they tend to stick to their tomb worlds if you don't go nicking technology from them
+Field Marshal Fry It's the gremlin on the solar panels they need to worry about..... Did anyone else notice that?!
+Field Marshal Fry Tyranids* had to.
Gísli Stefán
CORRECTING MY SPELLING IS HERESY! *BLAM!*
Field Marshal Fry Fro Teh Emprah, then.

They're laughing at the captions
+R Sebo thank you for that keen observation. I caught on that, and it's not what I'm talking about.
+Brandon Wei they arent that far away, only 400km up. thats about 1.3 milliseconds each way.
you don't need your bones
best quote ever
Love how they change the location names haha
Fucking hell, this is the future, people.
...IM ON TO YOU.
I love the texts below them. High, High?
This is so cool!
Kelly did a great job of neutralizing the humor.. geez haha
Liking just for "hither and yon" joke
I waved at him last night when I saw the ISS go by. 😆
6:29 High / High? was the best one
i like how the location keeps changing lmao
he looks like a genie
Only Whovians will feel the dread I felt when he talked about building a station on Mars. The water.....
How is their video chat connection better from New York to SPACE than it is from New York to a news anchor in a different place in New York?
That guy loves being in space.
I used to think they were faking space exploration until this episode.
Stephen interviewing scientists, astronauts, big thinkers and actors, while other talk show hosts get millions of views because of celebrities
Scott Kelly ♥️♥️
HE CAME TO MY SCHOOL TODAY!!!!!😁😁😁😁
Ground Control/Major Tom
Too cute.
Stephen: so how do you know when to go to sleep
What the astronaut should have said: Well we triangulate the light in the sun and then determine the constant speed at which the IS is going and determine the trajectory of the IS...or we just use a watch
The Russian vodka joke... ha it is definitely true. As a Russian I confirm that it is true.
Scott Kelly You been in outer space almost a year, what do you eat over there? Chicken rocks?
Guess they aren't bothering with that "6 second delay" anymore. How convenient.
Best part was the locations. RIP David Bowie 😟
I love how his response to the Kim Kardashian comment is simply "Okay" because he knows what he is doing is infinitely more important than whatever the fuck Kim "does" or "is".
The captions under them crack me up
Nice one
Why can't I go to space? I wouldn't miss human contact at all.
chris Hatfield holds the world record
See! This is what happens when you live in space, You lose your hair, your legs and arms get lanky, your eyes get big and black and your skin turns grey! Scott was on stage one!
amazing
1 Scott Kelly is boss
