- Battery Operated Orchestra (BOO) have a nice collection of instruments, we had a glimpse when we shot an interview with them for the launch of their album "Yesterday, Tomorrow and You"
Chris from the band kindly recorded this session to give us all a flavour of what it can sound like - which as it happens is pretty tasty.
The Teisco 110F is a two oscillator instrument with lovely Low Pass resonant filter that keeps the low end with high resonance, a fixed filter bank and an interesting architecture.
Its capable of some pretty tasty sounds, we think you'll agree.

It's a good synth. The character is sort of a cross between roland and moog.
1. The VCO's are discrete uA726-based.
2. The VCF is a 24dB transistor ladder moog-style.
3. The analog filter bank is actually useful and has lots of range.
4. Like other old analogs the pots go bad and get scratchy and intermittent and it becomes a pain in the ass because they are obsolete - there is no modern compatible part for the slide pots. You have to open them up and clean & lube them and even then they may not last too long. Alternatively you would have to design an adapter board to install modern slide pots (the circuitry is on one board.. so there isn't a separate 'panel board' that could be redesigned or replaced). Don't forget this if looking to buy one.
Dear Sonic State, please let the text sit for a while longer. When you edit, read it out loud like a voice over to see how long the text needs to be in view. Everything else you do is amazing.
+1
I had to keep pausing the video.

Great mini demo of a beautiful synth. Thanks!
the Teisco 100f was my first synth. A life time keeper for me :)
I've just added one of these to my arsenal, been looking for a long time. It's sitting nicely between my S60f and SX400, I finally have all three grey Teiscos!
Sounds really fucking good
I have one. Extremely powerful synth. The bass is otherworldly.
Wow! This sounds better than most synths i heard.
Severely underrated synth, with a bit of Korg 800dv flair (another underrated one), not only in its coloured sliders but in its original duophonic signal flow and multiple ossibilities: ring mod, criss-crossed stacked modulations between VCOs, LFO and envelopes...
Wow never heard of this but it does sound great. More modern synths should have a filterbank like that!
Yeah sounds good! Thanks Chris
What an awesome synth! How have I never heard of it before?? Great demo.
Great work, Chris!
Thank you sir! I learned from the best!
Very hands-on, intuitive and good sounding instrument. And a very nice demonstration, thanks!
This sounds great.
heavenly
Wow! Especially the last two minutes were mesmerizing. Hopefully many more "rescue missions" to come!
Sounds great
Excellent and so informative! Thanks Chris!
thanks Cath! x
Had one of these. Germany 1981!
NICE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teisco made some very good synths. Bit of a secret weapon, until now, cheers very much 😆
Had my eyes on this for 30+ years, never seen one for sale. Good show!
Aphex Twin springs to mind. Lovely sounds.
Didn't know Tesco made synthesizers, next time I go there I have to check them out.
Mike: let's just say I didn't get 'em at Tesco
I always preferred Sainsbury's synthesizers.
lol the typeface is very similar to the tesco's logo too
This sounds a lot like an ARP Odyssey! I think I need one.
Awwww that was amazing! I owned the 60f (the single osc smaller brother) and loved it but traded it in for a crap drum machine... I regret that soooo muich now... Fantastic sounding machines. very under-rated.
Wow, this is truly a one-of-a-kind of synthesizer. Never seen PWM on an LFO, that's a great feature to have, and the panel with all the LEDs showing the modulation signals is just fantastic to look at :-D
I think the Korg MS20 has something similar
2:58. That's nice.
Sounds big and heavy!
They also had a single coil guitar with 4 pickups. Damn, I wish these were still made.
Great sounding synth and big love for the Nine Inch Nails - Hand That Feeds synth sound at 2:29. Sounds very close to the Arp Odyssey that they used :)
My first synth. I had it on top of a Yamaha D-65 organ.
00:49 gave me massive Chemical Brothers flashbacks.
Same lol
Had to look twice, thought it said Tesco. Sounds pretty decent.
Every VCO helps.
Yep. The Waitrose one is a bit more expensive 🤭😉
I had the 60F once...astonishing sounds. Was been told Teisco was really Kawai......anyone?
This and the Korg Trident were my dream synths. Got the Trident, but still don't have one of these. They seem to be hard to find and climbing in price. :(
4.20 - Reminded me of TONTO Exp. Head Band! A really lovely instrument - Behringer better be watching..
Lovely synth.. BOO
Hi Wagoo - I used to own the smaller brother of this the 60f...damn! Wish I still had it!
Thanks Wagoooooo! (Spooky theremin noises)
Jesus Christ, I just put this on using my built in pad speaker, and it still sounds amazing. I’m almost afraid to plug in proper headphones...
This synth is no slouch!
Had the opportunity to see one at Syntaur, once.
Reminds me of my SH7 somewhat
Now we are talking! :)
Behringer version coming to a store near you soon. :-):-)
Sounds so much different than all the other synths out there.
My mate did a youtube video of this last week .... @ electric cafe
Electric guitars were banned for minors in Japan? Why?
In 1965, apparently..."Parents thought electric guitars were a symbol of delinquency. So, electric guitars were no longer allowed for minors".
it led to a big drop in sales of electric guitars, and soon after, Teisco went bankrupt and were bought by Kawai
why dont all of my synths have fixed filter banks
Maybe Uli Behringer will clone this one too ?
I think I must of had the Teisco value version because mine never sounded this good.
Dunno. Mine sounds just as good. Best 375 bucks I've spent on a synth ever... in 2019 no less.
used extensively by Flemish band Goose
salute...I posted this video on BanginTables.com producer & dj blog.
Very beefy!
Probably the best non digital synth I've heard.
Most of the others kinda suck for me. Too expensive for what they do and such.
Lot's of classic keyboards are really lame sounding compared to this.
Is the 110f in the Teisco Value range or the Teisco Finest range?
Finest
Anyone else used to have the sound at 1:11 on a key ring?
I had it on in a box on the handlebars of my Grifter. Had a machine gun noise too
Tesco?
I only remember Teisco for cheap and nasty guitars LOL Hey, Behringer!! ..this might be a candidate for resurrection..or maybe even the SX400?
Beefy!
Got enough wood in those end blocks to burn and keep you warm during the next Armageddon..
It's not wood.
Just saw one of thesse on ebay in pretty good condition
yes I snagged it, a no brainer
I'd rather have an OSCar I think :)
Price is now doubled
does it have midi ,, is it only monophonic ?
only gate and cv in so you would need a kenton or similar, but at least it has that, the 100f doesn't.
This needs more Gundam.
Um... Guess I will be putting my Microkorg in the closet. 😯
Don’t do that! It’s lovely!
@@BOOelectric Lol, I was actually kidding. I cant afford that thing, haha.
Lowkey hate you for showing me this I want it now. Already have too much tho. Gotta stop buying gear and just focus on producing
Aaaaaaaaaaaand watch the prices sky rocket.
Hope they do one with a Transcendent 2000, I need to shift mine so I can get a Hydra!
This synth appears to have had an accident with a traffic cone. Poor thing.
Wow. What kind of stuff do you put in your ketchup ??
The eBay price of these just went through the ceiling ...
the orange signs are a little obstructive imo
Know anyone who can repair mine?
yes
I sell one in mint condition if you're tempted please write me down ;)
Where are you based and how much are you asking? :)
I thought oh sh*t a new Behringer clone wooow. no...
Is it Bluetooth?
From 1981???
