- Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa intends to hit the ground running by meeting all role players in an attempt to find a lasting solution to the country's electricity crisis.
Power utility Eskom has been implementing the worst rolling blackouts in South Africa on record, leaving households in the dark, disrupting manufacturing and hurting businesses of all sizes.
SABC News senior political reporter Samkele Maseko speaks to the new Electricity Minister.

I've known Dokotela for 20 years of my life now and he seems sincere with every portfolio and subject he takes, although he's a bit tainted with accusations here n there but he helped Tshwane greatly especially the YOUTH.We are the beneficiaries of the few things he himself initiated and came to see realised...Make no mistake you won't take the ghetto outa him...Ke Grootman ya Kasi wa nthola...Now back at the subject at hand,he's eloquent and will harness the problem at hand even though it's not not gonna be a walk in the park,I do have confidence in him if his counterparts who are masquerading as leaders wearing suits won't steal from the same project he is undated to fix...Hungry hyenas in the ruling party and government are the reason we are here in the first place.

Doc has crammed the textbook very well. If this was an exam, he definitely passed. Let’s see if he actually practices anything said here.
Couldn't have said it better.
He just said a bunch of nothing on paper looks intellectual but in reality it's not.
He is eloquent and clearly this is his forte. When a political engineer speaks, you hear solutions for the citizens, economy and the future of the country. We not listening to a privileged lawyer telling us about criminals. Wow! I'm impressed and can already see that the problem will be resolved soon.
Importantly, I enjoyed how he addressed the by-passing of the procurement, the use Original Equipment Manufacturers and the use of qualified "mechanics". This three proves to be the major stumbling block in government business.
He will chow. They all do. Check out the R4m watch that he boasted about. With him SA is 100% doomed.

Is that a Nautilus on his arm? The repayment on a loan to cover the cost of that watch would be half of his monthly income. Either he stole that watch or it was a gift, and anyone in public office receiving a 'gift' that cost's as much as a house needs to be investigated by the police and SARS, because I highly doubt that he declared it as a taxable asset. Which it very much is, let's be clear on that.

Summary of the key points of the interview:
Government is going to increase supply and decrease demand
Decrease demand - Not well addressed in the interview, but this is essentally loadshedding continuation and rooftop solar, embedded generation
Increase Supply:
- Bring old power stations back online
- Upgrade existing failing power stations
- Add renewable energy storage and batteries onto the grid
- Gas from Mozambique
- Run the diesel generators full time
we have heard this before. mantashe have told us already but, still deep in loadshedding.
I will wait for ACTION
For Eskom to fix anything, they need more money, but they have fewer and fewer paying customers every day. It's called a death spiral for a reason. And I'm not even talking about political meddling yet.
ANC knows the taxpayers will be forced to pay. Taxpayers just roll over, have been doing so since 1994
Why Ramaphosa take a long time to point this guy.
Neville , at list he talk about about electricity not about who still O not still.
According to research stats about 1billion goes missing monthly @Eskom 😕 😪 🙄 !
The people who consistently pay their electricity bills and the people looking at getting solar, are the same people… this will be a the death of Eskom, and they might take SA with them.
Dithering speaking in circles!
Donut circles
Nice to hear Ramokgopa with such positive energy. But we must not forget Andre de Ryter who told us that R1bil was been syfened of from Eskom every month. Was De Ryter lying or is Ramokgopa getting the wool pulled over his eyes. The ANC can not be trusted. Ramokgopa could just be a puppet for the ANC. After his Technical work is done and we out of the loadshedding he needs to find all the money's that was Stolen from Eskom. 🙏
