  • Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa intends to hit the ground running by meeting all role players in an attempt to find a lasting solution to the country's electricity crisis.
    Power utility Eskom has been implementing the worst rolling blackouts in South Africa on record, leaving households in the dark, disrupting manufacturing and hurting businesses of all sizes.

    I've known Dokotela for 20 years of my life now and he seems sincere with every portfolio and subject he takes, although he's a bit tainted with accusations here n there but he helped Tshwane greatly especially the YOUTH.We are the beneficiaries of the few things he himself initiated and came to see realised...Make no mistake you won't take the ghetto outa him...Ke Grootman ya Kasi wa nthola...Now back at the subject at hand,he's eloquent and will harness the problem at hand even though it's not not gonna be a walk in the park,I do have confidence in him if his counterparts who are masquerading as leaders wearing suits won't steal from the same project he is undated to fix...Hungry hyenas in the ruling party and government are the reason we are here in the first place.

    He is eloquent and clearly this is his forte. When a political engineer speaks, you hear solutions for the citizens, economy and the future of the country. We not listening to a privileged lawyer telling us about criminals. Wow! I'm impressed and can already see that the problem will be resolved soon.
    Importantly, I enjoyed how he addressed the by-passing of the procurement, the use Original Equipment Manufacturers and the use of qualified "mechanics". This three proves to be the major stumbling block in government business.

    This man is a walking library. A repository of knowledge. Too much info in his head. He even answers questions that were never asked. He really does sound knowledgeable. Let's hope he manages to solve this unsolvable Eskom problem. I've always knew Ramokgopa to be a smart fellow. I like his analogy of cars 😂 I swear. This guy is not just big headed.     I remember i attended a breakfast meeting in Pretoria around 2015 he gave a very compelling presentation on how he is going to phaseout old electricity billing system with prepaid system and how its going to pay itself over time, we were excited. Later we found out that the tender budget to provide prepaid meters by Siemens was ballooned by over 1000% percent the money was finished before the project was completed all happened under him.
    SO I AM NOT CONVINCED!

    Is that a Nautilus on his arm? The repayment on a loan to cover the cost of that watch would be half of his monthly income. Either he stole that watch or it was a gift, and anyone in public office receiving a 'gift' that cost's as much as a house needs to be investigated by the police and SARS, because I highly doubt that he declared it as a taxable asset. Which it very much is, let's be clear on that.

    Government is going to increase supply and decrease demand
    Decrease demand - Not well addressed in the interview, but this is essentally loadshedding continuation and rooftop solar, embedded generation
    Increase Supply:
    - Bring old power stations back online
    - Upgrade existing failing power stations
    - Add renewable energy storage and batteries onto the grid
    - Gas from Mozambique
    - Run the diesel generators full time

    Nice to hear Ramokgopa with such positive energy. But we must not forget Andre de Ryter who told us that R1bil was been syfened of from Eskom every month. Was De Ryter lying or is Ramokgopa getting the wool pulled over his eyes. The ANC can not be trusted. Ramokgopa could just be a puppet for the ANC.
