Thanks. The Leader is one of my favorite villains. I always loved how he was a literal brains vs brawns scenario. I also love how his motivations aren't necessarily evil. Megalomaniacal and amoral to be sure, but he's motivated by the incompetence of the world's governments. Dude just wants to rule the world because he KNOWS he can do better. :)
The Leader likes to think he can do WAYYYY better! But just like Dr. Doom, he overrates himself! He'd likely demand "Total Blind Obedience" from his followers just like Doom would! I wonder if he really could have his own kingdom though, I remember he once nuked a town and rebuilt it with everyone who survived the explosion and they were quite happy... Until one day, something went wrong... However, I'm not sure if it was The Leader's fault, or HYDRA'S...
@@leaderstragg but like wasn't Doom even told by some cosmic entity that he was humanity's savior and that he'd actually be the best to lead the world?

I remember reading the story many years ago when I was a kid and I always had it in my head the humanoids were made of some sponge material, don't know why! I'm 58 going on 59 and I still love these old stories. 👍
In one episode I remember they seemed very much like they where made of that. At that time Hulk lost because he had the brain and mind of Banner. The leader saw that as a weakness because the mindless Hulk that often fights the leader would have just go on and on like an angry machine. Banner saw the fight as hopeless.
Loved this one about the Leader. Always found him an interesting foe of the Hulk. I like the Hulk issues 115- 117 and 139. All these issues feature the Leader.
I really enjoy your presentations. The most interesting thing I took away from this was the UNBELIEVABLE armor that even the Hulk couldn’t beat. This predates Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor. Interesting that Stark Industries never got their hands on the design.
The Lethal Leader is such an effective nemesis for The Incredible Hulk, I'm surprised he hasn't appeared in a live-action movie... Yet!... But frankly, I doubt it'll ever be too late!
He was actually in the Incredible Hulk (2008). He was the college scientist in the third act of the film, who was named Dr Samuel Sterns (who went under the alias of Mr Blue) and helped maintain Banner's anger, but unfortunately due to his own arrogance and scientific curiosity he also turned Emil Blonsky into the Abomination. You can see as soon as Abomination knocks Sterns out, some gamma blood from Banner dripped into a scar in his head and it began to expand his cranium and brain, while also giving a sinister grin (this was a major Easter Egg for his comic appearance with the large green head).
After learning the basics of Quantum Physics and subsequently coming to understand the properties behind Ionizing Radiation, such as Gamma Radiation. It has only contributed to my steady depreciation of all canonical Marvel lore regarding the subject matter of radioactive superpowers. Its weird because as a kid, the mention of radioactivity is such a throwaway topic line. It didn’t have to make sense to my young and simple mind, back then. But I guess that back when these characters were first conceived, Quantum Physics was a relatively new field of science, and general knowledge about the adverse biological effects caused by Radiation Or Radioactivity was not as widespread, as studied, or as publicized. But these days, listening to the theme song of that old hulk cartoon just makes me cringe HARD!! They might as well just call it magic, which makes more sense from a fictional standpoint.
Marvel's gamma is literally magic ever isnce Immortal Hulk which is going a bit far. Used to just be "Some people have genes that make their body react differently"
1:49 DECADES later this armor is revealed to have some passive ability to get stronger as Gamma powered beings fight it, to explain it resisting Hulk I guess. Oh you covered that!
The Leader, Dr. Doom, Lex Luthor, the Kingpin, Ras a gull, Brainiac, so many bad guys claiming they have superior intellect and try to conquer the world by force. If they're so smart did they ever think if they used their intellect to do good things and help people everyone might want them to be in charge?
PS -- Did you ever notice that Banner (or the Hulk) has been exposed to gamma rays (or some other form of radiation) at least a half-dozen times after the original G-bomb explosion that turned him into the Hulk? A few of those later exposures were accidental, but even more of them were when he deliberately exposed himself to more gamma radiation.
Do you think we will see the Leader as the main antagonist of the She Hulk TV show in the MCU after he got his powers the same time as the Abomination?
I sure hope so. It'd be pretty cool to have him as the surprise, big-bad. I could imagine him secretly giving orders to Titania or the Wrecking Crew throughout the show, but not physically showing up until the season finale.
Is the Leader just a smarter, better looking, greener version of the Gargoyle from HULK #1? Discuss. Maybe Ditko invented the Leader because they'd cured the Gargoyle (who wasn't really evil after all) and then let him sacrifice his life to help Banner escape from behind the Iron Curtain. I always wondered why the Leader had to try to steal Banner's inventions -- if he's really smarter than Banner, couldn't he just invent his own better & improved versions based on the same concept after thinking about it for an hour or two? At any rate, he seems to have unlimited resources to develop endless variations on his humanoids, so he may put the Mad Thinker out of business.

I have this comic. The old stories where incredible to read. They where literally all over the place and the art was second to none.

Who's here after the Leader was confirmed as the main antagonist of Captain America: New World Order?
Me and I find this hard to believe. I wanted Sin the daughter of Red Skull to be the main Villain of Captain America A New World Order

Favorite villain right here!!! His brother madman was overlooked too. I wish he got in a decent writer's hands.
Love the dramatic music in the background!
Chameleon crossed paths with the Hulk? Never knew..
That's the point.
THE LEADER SHOULD BE PRAISED AND RESPECTED!!!!!
But in this age of MCU , none cares about these legendary characters ........
I actually wanted to see the sequel to the Incredible Hulk 2008 with norton fighting the leader.
@@Filthy_Larry YES! That modified origin for The Leader would have worked well in a future film.

The Leader walks into a bar and the bartender says “Hey, why the long face?”
Or he says "what's on your mind?"
I hope he reappears in the future in the MCU
He'll be in Captain America: New World Order

Banner must have bought out the inventory of a company that made purple stretch pants.
Nah officially Reed Richards made him stretchy pants
You didn’t mension when he lost his intellect and came crying to banner for help.

i like the origin stories of minor villains great video man keep up the good work
The Leader isn’t a minor though, he’s over the age of 18 years old.

Darth Griffin like less known and less relevant to the stories of main characters

Did Steve Ditko really draw the art for the Incredible Hulk comics too?.
