      As A German I agree with you an Germany's weaknesses. Spain look very strong and could have destroyed Italy. Having that said, Italy were rubbish. They had no possession and didn't press Spain at all. That way it was quite easy for Spain to shine. Germany play a similar possession-based style to Spain and could have done the same to Italy.

      Spain and Italy have both perfectly copied the tactics of Germany and Schottland from the first game. 😂
      It's stupid from the side of Italy because Hungary had just delivered the example of how to stand a better chance against this 3-1-3-1 offensive system. About the chances of Spain vs. Germany: Spain has one more impressive tool and it's the wingbacks that can go wide and kick the ball dangerously into the centre. The German wingbacks lack this capability as they cannot dribble past defensive players. However Germany has Kroos and many players that know how to make a goal.

    I think so as well, it is almost impossible for me to think the best coach in this euro is not the favourite to win. At the first friendlies i was a bit sussed out for what naglesmann was trying to do but when i watched the games against France and Netherlands he had a clear idea and a clear starting eleven and his ideas where starting to make sense, just like his Leipzig. In the preparation games they where a bit off, but now this games against scotland and Hungary showed it again, for me they are the favourites.

  • @thomaskruck4474

    Greetings from Germany! Thanks for the interesting analysis. However, Hungary made some problems of the german team visible. They played well against Netherlands and France in the preparation, but against Ukraine and Greece things did not work out well. Hence, I would call the match against Hungary a step forward. If Germany makes it into the 1/4 final, there would probably be Spain, which clearly outplayed Italy in all aspects.

    • @thomaskruck4474
      @thomaskruck4474 6 месяцев назад

      Well, against Switzerland, a bunch of problems were revealed. The swiss players had an excellent defense. The German players slowed down and did hardly find space where to go. The German defense got under pressure since Rüdiger and Tah both were often far from the central positions, and the midfield players standing high.
      Still the Germans had enough opportunities to score. The last pass often sloppy. The shots were pretty bad, Harvertz and Rüdiger missed headers which were promising. As if they did not believe.
      Maybe substitutes Raum and Füllkrug should have been earlier on the pitch.

Because he had been delivered concrete examples how to play or not to play against the Spanish/German system and he was unable to draw the concrete conclusions. You can have great players. It won't help if you have a coach that doesn't understand modern tactics. I see Spain and Germany on an equal footing. If they would play each other, the chances are probably 50-50.

    I agree, Germany have looked really good. Kroos operating as a Pirlo, but not in front of, instead actually as part of the back row, makes him super-difficult to pick up. In a weird way, it reminds me of Nowitzki's fade-away. You can't defend him, because he draws away from you, but he gets his throw/pass anyway.
    I am sure managers will already be working on a solution to this very special problem - just as Nagelsmann will work on an alternative for the moment this nut has been cracked.
    I will say this: If this was a league competition, Germany would be my top three candidates for me alongside Spain and France.
    But football is a game that by its low-scoring nature has the most results that go against run of play, therefore you can never really predict cup competitions anyway. Also, Spain and Germany are on course to meet in the quarters already. So one of them will have a very decent EURO and still go out early.
