This, along with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Alice in Chains' "Down In A Hole" and Pearl Jam's "Alive" was my generation's theme. Now, at 56 years old, I still love it.
Thank you Nick for recognizing progressive music at its finest. This entire album is a masterpiece and why I gave myself the channel name I have. This was my anger anthem for sure but the intro to this album is probably the best lead in to a amazing album ❤
Can't go wrong with classic Pumpkins. There's at least half a dozen songs off this album alone that qualify as glorious, and another half-dozen are "merely" beautiful.
This isn’t classic Pumpkins, this is when they sold out and became a terrible, overproduced sellout. I hate this whole album and everything they released after. Siamese Dream is classic Pumpkins, this song is a travesty.
Back in the 90s the bands back then all sound different. I love Corgans singing. It sounded like no one else. That’s rare in todays music where everyone sounds the same.
My favourite song from SP has always been "Geek U.S.A.". The drums, the crazy guitar solo, overall energy is just beyond the scale. I like his vocal at times and one thing is certain - it's so distinctive that you immediately know it's him.
I saw Smashing Pumpkins’ first NY appearance at CBGB and they were great. As part of your Halloween marathon, maybe return to a band that dresses up in costumes (although they call it battle armor). Band-Maid! I recommend Blooming
If you’re going for a Halloween October theme I would check out Siouxsie and the Banshees. They were or are a highly influential post punk band to a lot of alternative bands like the smashing pumpkins. They have 11 studio albums from the late 70s into the 90s. One of my favorites, I have over 100 songs of theirs on my playlist. I’d start with Spellbound, fits well with Halloween theme. They also have a song called Halloween which is pretty bad ass, there is a live version on RUclips.
Poor Billy does not have a good singing voice but I’ve always been okay with it. I like a lot of Smashing Pumpkins songs, including this one. I like this one a lot. But my favorite is 1979. That one is probably in my top 25 all-time favorite songs. I think Ryan might like that one a lot better. But nice choice tonight, Ty. Thanks for brining them back.
Jimmy came back to playwith them from 1998 til 2000. Again from 2006 til 2009. And been with them from 2015 til present. Obviously, you haven't seen them in concert in a long...time
Fellas, of course Billy Corgan (who opened a fabulous coffee shop in the city!) talks, sings, and breathes with that awesome nasal twang like the rest of us born and raised in Chicago...where unfortunately, Billy is locally deemed a 100% jerk. I do like this song, as well as "Disarm," which is gorgeous.
Billy’s voice is an acquired taste but his song writing isn’t. I fully believe they would’ve been even more massive if he had a more digestible voice, but I love it ♥️
Digestible voice. Without this digestible voice there are no SP. Take good with the bad Although I am not saying his voice is bad. his voice is SMASHING PUMPKINS and no one can replace him. That is why their sound from producer point of view is unique and perfect. Musically perfect.
So with stereo headphones on and screaming into your ears you still can't hear what people are saying... You sir , may be qualified for government work. 🤣 Just kidding nice reaction and a great song. Definitely play list in for us boomers.
I think I have finally grown up. Nope it doesn't do anything for me. Normally I like to find something artistic in whatever is produced but in this case I just don't like it.

@@zacharyyoung1083 Accusing a double-album of being "sellout" is wild.

If by different you mean completely nasal and annoying (on this song particularly) then you are correct.
💯 % right-So much creativity and sonic and thematic diversity then. Especially in rock music.
Everyone sounds the same today, and that same is suck.
Setting for this song: driving to a job you hate.
70 years old here, and I love Billy's voice. Sort of similar to Neil Young's...an acquired taste.
Is there a better refrain than: "Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage"? Existential crisis.
My old mans favourite band

When you mentioned Billy Corgan’s voice, I remember someone saying he sounds like Big Bird and I can’t unhear it.
Kurt, Courtney and Billy, scarier love triangle than any Halloween movie. 😳
The entire Siamese Dream album is fire, You've done Cherub Rock,so Mayonnaise,Spaceboy, quiet,Soma, Disarm,Today are all great ones to listen to next
"Is there an audio issue?!?!" hahahaha
Great song!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

My favorite Pumpkins song has always been Rhinoceros. Think Ryan would have liked that one. Much more accessible IMO. VERY atmospheric as well.
Thank you for doing Pumpkins'
This and 1979 were in my vibe album
Yay pumpkins 👍🎃

We are doing a Top 50 SP songs of all time series on our channel. The band changed my life.
Jimmy Chamberlin is a great drummer. Seriously underrated
Truth-but Jimmy checked out of the Pumpkins and checked into rehab shortly after this record...I'm not sure if I have seen him anywhere since.

@@buckeyechad1 Why would I go to see a band if I only enjoy 2 of their songs?
So cool that Billy Corgan is one of the biggest Rush fanboys and said it helped if his drummers could play Neil Peart drum parts at auditions. lol
No doubt
A good halloween song is 'Monkey On your Back' by Aldo Nova
1st 3 albums from the Pumpkins are amazing, just like Janes Addiction. Please do 3 days from Janes, you might poop your pants lol.
Y'all should check them on the Howard Stern show. You can hear him talk.
I wanna see y’all react to Billy Corgan’s voice on Bodies that song is 🔥

This is the first CD I bought when I was a kid
Is this a new intro? My favorite is the first one. Hope you guys are well!
MTV. 120 Minutes. 🤓✌🏽
"Zero" , please.

Punkins! 🎃
Did you guys do "Cherub Rock "?
They already did it.
Mmm
For me it’s a working class song
Restaurant / Retail
Struggling to look exist
How about Sin by Stone Temple Pilots!!!🔥
Please listen to Mayonnaise
So with stereo headphones on and screaming into your ears you still can't hear what people are saying... You sir , may be qualified for government work. 🤣 Just kidding nice reaction and a great song. Definitely play list in for us boomers.
You should do the voice by the Moody blues. Pure fire
Great. Now do Mayonaise
"Homer Simpson, smiling politely". Like if you get it
Hey guys, please react to the song Tonight of Smashing Pumpkins
For some reason, can't get to the live chat...
Lil known fact. Their name means to have sex with pumpkins not to physically smash them
Smashing is an adjective not a verb in the band name.
What’s with the Simon Le Bon hate? Just let it go. Anyway, Billy Corigan sounds okay. This song is fire.
