I dropped out of medicine at Oxford as despite the amazing opportunity was just not into medicine for a career. So i changed to Edinburgh university and did maths and economics. Now work in New York for a great Investment management firm . Always opportunities

OMD I was literally in the same position this year March and have never related so much. Also dropped out of UCL but just before term 2 ended and I am now studying a whole new degree elsewhere. It’s difficult dropping out but you made the right decision and you’ll be thanking yourself down the line. Wishing you the best for your gap year and future endeavours!

100%! Even now looking back at it I feel like I 100% made the right decision, and although it’s scary at first, I can see now that it needed to happen. Good luck for all your future endeavours as well!

Aaa I can relate to so much of what you've said in this video. I kind of panicked and couldn't come to a decision about what to do in Year 13, applied for engineering then got rejected lol. It wasn't for me anyways, so I'm on a gap year now and focusing on figuring out my next steps (maybe physics at uni, I'm thinking of ucl as well) , internships and work experience, mental health, hopefully travelling as well! I'm glad you figured out that medicine and chem at ucl wasn't for you and its really important to be able to say no, this isn't for me and it's not taking me anywhere so I'm going to leave. I think what you said about the chem degree not leading you towards the life you want is a really good insight to have and it will really help you find your own path. Yeah and good luck on your gap year, I hope you enjoy your travelss!! What countries are you thinking of? I'm hoping to do a Europe interrailing trip during February to March

100% agree with everything you said! I feel like often it’s so hard to say no, but once you do, a whole load of other opportunities are opened up to you that would genuinely be more exciting for you. Good luck for your gap year and your future endeavours! I’m hoping to go to Australia and do some travelling around south east Asia (depending on how much money I can save!)

I dropped out this year, as well. I relate to struggle and stress that comes with these choices

I’m thinking something along the lines of either sports science or business and marketing - I feel like with those it will either be something I really enjoy studying or something that can lead me to a career that I’d really enjoy as well! Thank you so much for your kind words :)

@@MiaYSMalik No worries :) It's so lovely to see people who are brave enough to do what's right for them and I'm sure you'll thrive whatever you do! I did GCSE and a level PE and many of my friends have gone on to study sports science. Seeing how much you love the gym it will incorporate that a lot so I think you'd find it interesting!!

Proud of you for taking that decision for yourself!! I'm currently on a degree apprenticeship would defo recommend it, especially as someone who is more of an independent person and tbh, I couldn't imagine doing a full time degree now! Make sure you take your time and hopefully you enjoy your gap year and get to where you want to be Mia 🤍

Thank you so much! I'm definitely looking into degree apprenticeships as an alternative, think they can be so valuable!
