Wow! I just watched a documentary with this lady in Wyoming and Colorado which was done well. But, the reporter here in this one was hysterical. Who laughed and had a great time?
I hope she can bring the goats to my new land when I buy in Missouri. This lady is talented and has a gift for showing the glory of goats and explaining land and animals from the ground up. She's a wealth of knowledge. I recommend watching the other documentary too.

I'm living on a mountain famous for deadly wildfires. The Esperanza fire killed 5 brave firefighters less than a mile from my house in 2006. I now have 17 goats and a wonderful border collie named Joey. I wish I knew how to train him, but he's so smart he's figured out a lot on his own. Mostly, he's my constant companion and great guard dog. When he doesn't like someone, I listen! He's never been wrong. Border collies aren't like average dogs, they really do understand human language extremely well! He also tells me where the rattlesnakes are. He has a unique bark that means "RATTLESNAKE!" I hear that bark, I go for the snake tongs, and the big trash can in which to deposit the viper. I don't even look first.

I had heard about her through a different story, 4-5 years ago. So I looked her up, found her # and called her. I wanted & needed info on Goats(and Deer, wanted to buy some goats and had rescued a fawn). She was nice enough to chat with me for a while, she is a Great Lady with a Wealth of knowledge! I still think about that conversation(she is a Hoot) I did heed her advice BTW(In case you happen to read this?). Hope she's/you're still getting along and enjoying life, all my best to you Dear Lady. Thanks again for your time chatting with me & for your advice!

This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "show goat terms" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Chloetey Boer Goatify - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my neighbour got excellent success with it.

A fantastic lady, hardworking, fearless and wonderful, working on a mission of preservation of nature and connection with animals as intelligent as goats and dogs. An example to follow in so many parts of the planet, especially in my country, Portugal, where this type of work and this lifestyle is considered despicable. Is not there a Nobel prize for this lady? Congratulations!

Lanie is my new hero! I'm doing something similar, on a much smaller scale. I live on 20 acres on a mountain that burns frequently. My 17 goats keep my home safe. If I worked every day clearing brush, I could never do what they do. My property is mountainside, littered with boulders. Can't run tractors or other machinery through here, and it is too dangerous to use combustion engines for that purpose now that it's Summer and one spark could ignite a deadly fire. 13 years ago, five firefighters died trying to save my neighbor's home. We moved here just after that horrible tragedy, I started with 3 goats. I had about a dozen goats when the next wildfire swept through. It was severe, several people lost homes, my house was completely surrounded by flames for over 3 hours, while my son and I sheltered in place, stuffing wet towels under doors and windows. I got pnemonia from the smoke inhalation, but we survived along with all the animals. No damage to cars, house, or outbuildings. Those precious goats saved our lives! BTW, they are also adorable affectionate animals and beloved pets. They each have unique personalities and most I've named after celebrities or TV characters. "Stevie Nicks" and "June Carter Cash" are mommas to the prettiest babies this Spring! They all have the same Daddy, "Fiddy-Cent" (he's only got one testicle, so he's "half-a-buck").
Amazing story. Not many people show high regard for what goats can do. Yours seem truly exceptional for saving your house in an unintended kind of way. I just have one young billy who enjoys the company of cats and dogs and he's their guardian. Elvis keeps my dirt driveway free of intruders, weeds and dry leaves but he ignores the grass. Strange, because he eats everything else.
My bachelor uncles raised Texas sheep when I was a child. They had a border collie named buster. I loved that collie! Your hat is awesome Lani!

great interesting story, this lady has found her heaven on earth. I had a old ornery billy goat one time that I used for land clearing and a daily dose of humor. I called him Eclipse and he could be hilarious at times. Oh the stories I could tell.
