All great information.. thank you... for the fecal evaluation under a microscope, is there a video that shows how to do it, as in prepare the specimen for visual evaluation? Thanks again! Thumbs up all the way!
Just wonderful, I've been looking for "goat boer farming" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Chloetey Boer Goatify - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.
Winner of a video, I have been researching "information on boer goats" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Chloetey Boer Goatify - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got cool results with it.
You need to protect them from predators. I lock mine up at night. Then you need livestock guardian animals for day time protection in case stray dogs wander on the property. I tie mine up for feedings so I can control what they eat. They are then very tame and can be walked on leashes to the truck. If you can plant rye grass in the winter, then you won't have to buy hay in winter. However, you must water the field if there is no rain. My latest project is to train my donkeys as draft animals to haul manure band dirty bedding out to a fallow paddock to improve the pasture. I hope to go to Horse Progress Days and buy a cultivator and planter so I can use the donkeys around the ranch. Horse Progress Days features motorized equipment of all sizes that draft animals can pull. Many implements are multipurpose and made by the Amish. I think draft donkeys or mules are more economical than tractors on small acreage. Their working life is long, and they also protect goats. I have even seen them let kids jump on their backs and give them rides! The good thing about donkeys is you don't have to feed them, as long as you have browse and mediocre pasture. However, they can't have good pasture or they will overeat.
@vic485: Why start with 6 bucks? starting with two would mean you can go two years without replacing them, and leaves room for keeping the best bucklings. Bucks are only used once a year, and having too many just raises your feed costs. I wish you luck. My dream home would have 15 dairy goats- 10 mini 5 full size.
I would completely enjoy it. However, I don't think my kids would necessarily appreciate that I sold their "pets" for somebody to eat. Ultimately, despite my best efforts, they would become pets... ( =
This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "boer goat growth chart" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of HootGoat.xyz ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my partner got great results with it.

Nubians are good, but I think that the dairy breeds are A personal preferance. I like the saanans the best because they are quiet and calm. The Nubians cry and talk all the time.

Disculpe tendrá trabajo para mí?
Good genetics, pasture rotation, and plenty of tall scrub will do wonders in preventing worms.
