My stepmom fell for this same scam and sent the house into debt... They caught her a few days before rent day and got her to instead of getting the rent and bringing it home go to Walgreens and buy 1k worth of money packs and send him the pictures... She almost got us evicted because she withheld her portion and wouldn't say why till the last minute and we had to scramble to figure out how to come up with another 1k... The sad part was we kept having to block her from trying to give the scammer more money... She kept trying to ask people she knew to borrow money ect we couldn't get her to realize it was a scam and she was so intent on not missing out on her chance to get 100k and a Mercedes. We are still struggling with the debt it left as the temp solution caused us to get fines and late fees ect turning a missing 1k into a 1.5k sink hole that is hard to fill before it grows.
I went to the Walgreens the day she bought them and chewed them out for not having proper measures of preventing this obvious well known scam and all I got was "we limit how much you can put on a card in a single transaction" yet they let her buy 3 cards in 3 transactions... No questions asked. Never got a resolution cause we had to go on a camping trip the day after and no one wanted to bother calling cops or banks to stop charges cause "theirs nothing we can do about it". We know the person was gonna get away with it so why bother calling the cops. We know the bank won't refund us so why bother calling them... (For example some guy who walks down my street 6-15 times a day randomly busted out my car window and we got a "oh yeah that guy was already warned about breaking windows 2 days ago when he broke the store window behind your house, we will talk to him again"... He didn't even get in trouble and still walks past my house daily - I had him on my camera committing crime and he doesn't even get a slap on the wrist, another reason my expensive cameras are useless) another out of pocket expense around 300$ that I didn't get back.
@@Emily-cw7tj the debt it put us in makes working around it annoying, not only did it remove the money we needed for rent but the extra charges and overdraft fees it caused afterwards has been making it hard to get out of the red. The accounts are slowly getting there but every time rent day comes we are back in the red because the money normally saved for rent is getting used to fix the negative balances.
the guy who called me from scamer pch..was david church...... i listen to him.. i then went to the overland mo. police dept... they called do i have money..i told the police dept put a tracer on my phone... click..they hung up...lol
Supposedly I won and they're supposed to deliver the check today.They did not ask for any money.I do have the person's name and badge number that called , is this legit
