Didn't they improve the Thorns tracking though? That's how it read. I do remember that it had godawful tracking that missed at a distance most of the time. Seemed to be good at close range (or at anything that just stood perfectly still)
@@jahrfuhlnehm All 3 Thorns will now Track the target, but Damage and Bleed buildup was decreased. So overall, you will hit with all 3 a lot of the times, but it doesn't do the insane damage that nearly insta-kills everything. It's still a decent spell to use.
@@mementomori5580 It’s still pretty insane from a distance due to the improved tracking, just not as insane as it was in melee range. Basically, since all 3 thorns will hit from a distance now (whereas before only one would hit reliably), it actually does more damage and only about 25% less bleed buildup than before.

I just throw this stuff on my TV when I'm doing housework stuff, and honestly it's such a vibe. I never gotta worry about random screaming, but the energy is still there. I love the content lol
So the putrescence spells do build frost but the reason it was working on Mesmer is that whenever he buffs his spear with his flame he actually cleanses it. I was doing a hand to hand run with frost and it would proc but whenever he threw the fire in the air and stabbed it he wouldn’t have frost on him anymore.
What a neat and terribly inconvenient feature at the same time lmao. I guess the arms race becomes which weapons are capable of frosting him the fastest.

In case you don't know, the real use is some ground AOE moves. Putrescent Knight for example has one. You just cast this and you float for the entire attack and you feel cool af

Most bosses either take projectiles to the face from a distance while doing nothing/stand in a pool of lava while doing nothing, or instantly input read to dodge, so you switch to night spells to be fully braindead. Souls AIs are very bad, and magic builds expose the worst aspects of them.
I agree. I use it on my str+int build that’s modeled after Radahn using all the gravity spells. Idc that it technically doesn’t fit thematically lol my cope is that it’s a spell tied to both his mother and aunt. That’s good enough for me 😅

No one is talking about how perfect positional awareness Gino has in the fight against Metyr. Any time the boss flies into the air and starts to spinning towards Gino, he is always right up his nose. Bravo
I really wish they did more with Fleeting Microcosm's aesthetic. It's a super cool look that gives some much needed stylisation to the Energy Ball/Projectile type of sorcery and they chose to use it on one, singular spell.

You should do martial arts only like Danes footwork you can get someone to drop it to you at the start of the game and play from start to finish including the dlc with martial arts
@GinoMachino I would like to see a run starting in base game, going into DLC, but you are only allowed to use 1 weapon of each class per boss, so if you used the Halo Scythe for Margitt, you are no longer allowed to use it for any other boss, and in the DLC you have to use 1 weapon from at least 4 of the 8 newly added weapon classes

Thank you for saying it’s tough to be a mage in the DLC. It felt incredible to not cheese the final boss with thorns. Had to redo my tactics a bit, but consort and I had it out. So satisfying. But so many of the bosses move SO MUCH that getting solid casts in is always a challenge, haha. And yeah, some of the new spells aren’t the BEST - but they are spectacular to behold.
I'm not sure if you've figured it out yet but for the big explosion attack in the scadutree avatar fight it's a visual illusion, dodge the beams instead of the big wave.
It doesnt hit nearly as hard as you think. I dodged a couple times but couldnt get it right, and theres no shield that lets you cast spells, so when I noticed it didnt hit nearly as hard as it looked like it would I just used the shield thats got a face portrait of me.
Tbh the dlc got borderline fuck all, thorns got nerfed to junk aswell. The people that tell you its still good are like level 300 with god knows how many scadu fragments. Ive done every run without a single fragment, thorns has gone from busted to fking trash. For 150 bleed build up, health cost & average damage, its cast time is way too fking slow. Its borderline useless against every dlc boss, there are significantly better spells & weapons.

That thorn sorcery reminds me a lot of a thorn ability in Call of Duty: Cold War zombies. You could place down 2 & theyd last for a few minutes or till someone breaks them but they were op just like this lol insta killing basic zombies while slowing down anything strong enough to tank it
i find it immensly funny that malenia is one of the few "oh shit" bosses that you can just completely lay the fuck out if you hit her with something big enough
I would like to see weapon series with dlc weapons, perfumes, thrusting shields, beast claws... But maybe all in one run because they are not that many of every type.
Night comet with staff of loss is still a very solid sorcery. Especially npc fights, because they do not dodge the invisible sorceries. You can chunk big damage when all boosted up too. A tad simple and possibly boring, but still one of the strongest sorceries in the game, with a relatively low fp cost.
I know if I saw someone cast and nothing came out Id be dodging. Since its obvious theyre casting and not out of fp. Unless you see the flub animation when its used against you. I dont pvp but that seems like a good idea.
You know what could be a really interresting challenge run? A mundane run like you had in dark souls 2. Trying to keep your attributes as equal as possible. Would be really interresting seeing try and make that broken somehow

Watching after the Impenetrable Thorns nerf, and its still a VERY good spell. I liked the spell Microcosm, which is somehow a "finger" sorcery. Its a tiny black hole without the suck. Ill probably watch the whole thing cause I like that he didnt call it "Can you beat..." with op stuff. Strangely, I couldnt jump Rellanas twin moons, but dodging and blocking worked fine.
I dont like how the staff of great beyond looks, but its sort of what I was looking for when I started, something that can cast ALL magic (was hoping for the dual class version of Carian Sworcery Sword though).
I'm assuming the ritual sword doesn't actually work with thorns, since it inflicts self damage, so replacing that with a different talisman would pump the already absurd damage even higher. To late to see that upper limit now though.

you can put endure on a dagger, and then use this spell to have more hyper armor and be more reliable. Very fun spell indeed

Mantle of Thorns should buff your defensive stats(excluding fire) and do a small amount of bleed buildup per roll
Thats what I thought it did. But it sucks even with Briars Armor (though its like 10 times better), Fires Deadly Sin, Electrocharge, and Last Rites.

Did anyone actually think they weren't going to nerf the thorns
Night comet with staff of loss is still a very solid sorcery. Especially npc fights, because they do not dodge the invisible sorceries. You can chunk big damage when all boosted up too. A tad simple and possibly boring, but still one of the strongest sorceries in the game, with a relatively low fp cost.
I know if I saw someone cast and nothing came out Id be dodging. Since its obvious theyre casting and not out of fp. Unless you see the flub animation when its used against you. I dont pvp but that seems like a good idea.

You know what could be a really interresting challenge run? A mundane run like you had in dark souls 2. Trying to keep your attributes as equal as possible.
Would be really interresting seeing try and make that broken somehow

Keep in mind this challenge run was before the recent patch because not all trails of Impenetrable Thorns are tracking.

GINOOOOOOO, once you re back streaming regularly again now that euporia is fixed, ITS TIME (after you get the stranded no hit ofc which i m sure you will next time you re on it - the renalla hit last time was.. so sad lol, i guess even you can zone out from time to time, happens).
After I finished the DLC I went to finish the main game with pre nerf thorns literally the last 4 bosses took me 5 minutes.
Watching after the Impenetrable Thorns nerf, and its still a VERY good spell. I liked the spell Microcosm, which is somehow a "finger" sorcery. Its a tiny black hole without the suck.
Ill probably watch the whole thing cause I like that he didnt call it "Can you beat..." with op stuff.
Strangely, I couldnt jump Rellanas twin moons, but dodging and blocking worked fine.
Okay, now I want the Carian Slicer. Carian Sorcery Sword is a Rapier, so it thrusts. And that looks to give normal sword attacks, if only sort of.
I prefer Azurs over Lusats staff.
Mantle of Thorns must have been buffed cause I was doing 250 per roll. Or maybe its based on int level, mine was 80 or so.
I still prefer Lightning Spear over Knights Lightning Spear.
I dont like how the staff of great beyond looks, but its sort of what I was looking for when I started, something that can cast ALL magic (was hoping for the dual class version of Carian Sworcery Sword though).

I'm assuming the ritual sword doesn't actually work with thorns, since it inflicts self damage, so replacing that with a different talisman would pump the already absurd damage even higher. To late to see that upper limit now though.
It doesnt. A physical damage buff would be better (or whatever type it is, but its not magic).
