It's yellow over red indicating the autorack train needs to be prepared to stop at the next signal. The reason being is because the oil train has not cleared the main yet. As soon as the oil train cleared the main and the turnout was aligned for the main the signal changed to green over red.
Yes indeed, almost missed this one. I was going to go further west to catch the autorack but decided to stop here, was a good move. Thanks for watching.
The oil train here is an example of something I've seen before in train spotting videos: it has two unlike cars (covered hopper cars in this case), one at the head of all of the tank cars, and one at the tail. Two questions to those who know how this stuff works: 1) what is it called when they consist (right term?) these "unlike the others" cars at the head and tail of a unit train like this? 2) why do they do it?
The two covered hopper cars are called "buffer cars". They are filled with sand and their purpose is to help protect the crew in the event of an accident. I hope that answers your questions and thanks for watching.

Looks like 4199, the DPU on the oil train, has got a bit hot under the collar at some time
No doubt!! Thanks for watching.
the reason that there's a solid yellow for the mainline because, the east oil train stopped in the siding to let the Auto train keep rolling west

We have the meets again with my tanker in the midst!
