I have one of these. They're so hard to repair since the pcb is tiny and the wires are thin and fragile. Mine was working great but I sprayed deoxit in the record switch and now it's dead. Waiting for some free time to fix it. Nice yours has original box and accessories 👍 The service manual is available free online.
Thank you for the video! This device is a very good mono recorder and a good casual player with a very decent speaker. They are not very difficult to repair, but you have to be very careful for the reassembly part: there is a switch for the recording that you have to put back in the right position. Also in your model, the door opens freely: this is because the retaining hook (on top of the cassette lod) is not attached to the 2 small screws inside the door.
Yeah I bet. The last & only time I opened it i just changed the belt and tested it but no luck. I didn't really take out the circuit board, I suspect some little switch isn't making contact somewhere, because the player is almost new. Thanks for your comment and glad you liked the video.
Thank you for your helpful criticism. I just started filming and I found that I have a long way to go. Hope you enjoy the content in the not too far future.
Sony engineering is amazing. The older reel to reel recorders from the 1970s were built like tanks and still work 50 years later with minimal repairs.
Yeah the build quality is great, and so were the intentions of those days, without any planed obsolescence.
