My favorite fight is Buccellati vs king Crimson, because they both lose and they both win. Bucellati wins in the sense that he saves Trish and tells everyone how King Crimson works, but loses in the sense that he dies in the process. Diavolo wins in the sense that he killed Buccellati, but loses to his own cowardice when he's unable to bring himself to reveal his face despite the fact he could've killed them all in that moment.

The episode was also a big plot twist because up until then Bruno's gang had risked their lives to deliver Trish to her father but everything changed in a single moment when Bruno realised that his only task was to keep Trish alive so that the Boss could kill her himself . To Bruno , there was nothing more sacred than family and that's why he protected Trish , the daughter of the same man who destroyed Bruno's own family , so that at least she could live happily . But after realising how easily Diavolo was planning to get rid of his own daughter , something inside him snapped . Years of pent up frustration of being unable to stop the drug trade because he had to protect his father , blew up and caused Bruno to act rashly which led to his death . But he was brought back to life by Giorno , the boy who gave him courage to stand up against the boss and the corruption in the mafia . Bruno had already accepted his fate in his battle with King Crimson and saw the rest of his life as just a second chance given to him to help the boy , Giorno , achieve his dream . So when he saw a chance during the Battle for the Arrow , he repaid his debt by giving up his life and ascended to heaven , gently floating through the air , guided by the Golden Wind . This fight was the biggest character developing moment for Bruno

I’ll admit, while the D’Arby arc isn’t my favorite fight to come from SDC (that’d be Iggy and Polnareff vs. Vanilla Ice), it’s still an amazing fight due to being a very atypical shounen fight by not even having any fistfighting or brawling. Instead, it’s just a battle of wits in order to see which character can outsmart the other, and truly shows just how smart and badass Jotaro can truly be at times.
Even if part 3 has its issues, it’s arcs like this (along with the aforementioned Vanilla Ice fight, the fight with N’Doul and Geb, and especially the finale, Dio’s World) that further cement why it’s my favorite Jojo part (at least if we’re only counting the animated parts. If we venture into the manga, it’d of course be part 7, if my pfp didn’t already give that away.)

OH HECK YES. That episode is such a stand-out, even among Jojo’s fights. It perfectly conveys what makes these fights good in that yes, not a single punch is thrown. It’s all about mind games. Not to mention, the fight also gets to show off how each character involved thinks, as well as how much of a freaking cool guy Jotaro is. It also builds up D’Arby really well, making him seem so intimidating while, again, he poses no _physical_ threat to our main characters. He would definitely lose in a straight-up brawl, but because he catches Polnareff off guard he’s able to shift the battle into one more in his favor.

It seems like such a cool fight at first, but then you think about it for 5 seconds and realize how contrived it is that Risotto did not insta-kill Doppio the moment the fight started.
Fixing the fight in my mind would require laying more restrictions on how Metallica works, because as it is, Risotto could just form a spike in Doppio's brain and be done with it.
Or in his heart. No reason is given why he can't do this, so he only loses because he's too much of an idiot to use his ability to its fullest.
It's not a well written fight at all. Metallica was so powerful that the only way Araki could make the fight work was to have Risotto just not use it intelligently.

My favorite in the series was always True Man’s World (reason why I have Ringo as my pfp) simply due to that mix of action and tactics involved, and how much of an impact it had on the Steel Ball Run Duo. Some great character development, a damn good antagonist, and beautiful philosophy on the nature of life.
And yeah, Cosmo’s video gave me a headache like no tomorrow. JoJo isn’t perfect, yeah (granted, most complaints people have are explained in-universe), but his criticisms were disingenuous and flat out incorrect at times. You can’t just fall back on, “It’s just my/his opinion” when the opinion has very inaccurate information and poor generalizations. Like seriously, if you just watch the show, you’d know that not everyone character in JoJo is the “cowardly badass” (and the fact he used Polnareff and Narancia there pissed me off; both are some of the bravest dudes in JoJo despite being goofballs!) or “stoic badass” archetype ; that there are character arcs; that the deaths aren’t for “shock value” when there is in-universe reasons for them happening that make sense. Criticize the show for facts, not false information.
Great video, Kamen! Jotaro Hate is real dumb, especially when the whole point of this journey is that he’s growing more attached to the group, that he’s very emotional despite his stoic demeanor, and that he almost does screw himself over multiple times due to his anger (like how he was straight up going to ram his fist through Steely Dan “so fast that the Stand won’t activate”; or during the DIO fight; or him being an ass just to everyone).

Hey, D'Arby is my favourite "fight", too! Glad to see another man of culture.
I would actually go further and call Star Dust Crusader either my favourite or second favourite part. Not because of necessarily being the most well written, but because I enjoy the globe-trotting adventure aspect, and not the way Battle Tendency did it, I mean that it had this faraway goal that was defined at the beginning and the chartacters worked to get to. It's good that not every part is like this, and I really appreciated the change of pace that was DiU, but the only pther part that could replicate SC's journey-feel for me was, well, you already know exactly which one it was. So for me SC is definitely top 2.

Time to put my own input in the comments of a 2 year old video:
Battle tendency’s 2nd battle against wamuu is my favourite as it just nails everything. The stakes are high as the entire series led up to this showdown and it really feels like the end of the story character-wise, and kars is just there to be there, and it also completes joeseph’s arc of learning to respect people. It just works.

The D’arby Elder versus Jotaro fight is probably one of my favorite fights of all time, and is, in my opinion, one of the greatest fights in all media, purely because it’s a battle of wits. D’arby is completely psyched out by Jotaro’s lack of emotion, his supposed indifference to sacrificing the souls of his friends, himself, and even his own mother, and how he uses Star Platinum sparingly, only using it to get himself a drink and to light his cigarette, all to make D’arby think he swapped out the cards. And it’s even better when you realize that D’arby not only knows the true power of The World, but might even think Jotaro is capable of this power. Even though the deck was stacked against Jotaro, with D’arby paying the boy who shuffled the deck to give him a winning hand that could only be beaten by 3 hands, and Jotaro being given garbage cards, he still caves under the pressure.
But the cherry on top is the performances and animation. In both the original and the English dub, the performances by everyone involved was damn near perfect. Just look up Jotaro versus D’arby dub in the RUclips search bar to see what I mean. They truly sell the idea of a stone-faced teenager, the genuine fear in D’arby’s voice and face, and seeing D’arby age in graphic detail just at the thought of calling Jotaro’s bluff, the hyperventilating of everyone in the room, starkly contrasted by Jotaro’s calm demeanor, and the tension, knowing what’s at stake, and having the main protagonist be completely defenseless makes a borderline masterpiece. And they actually teach you a bit of Poker in the process, so kudos to Araki for that!
I thank you for making this video. It’s really well done, and I thought I’d chime in.

What I love about Jotaro is that he doesn’t need much development and any done is much more hidden. Any development are the seen in the small details rather than “THROUGHOUT THE DAYS, I’VE GROWN FOND OF MY OLD MAN. WHAT DID HE USED TO SAY?”.
Part 3, as it’s purpose was to be an adventure, as in spending time with the characters, learning more. Kakyoin and Polnareef develop because it’s part of their character as we know it. Every reason they both act the way they do to the lads and villains is because of their past and purpose.
Jotaro needs less development as he himself like Jonathon has already grown, and that’s fine as it just means we get to spend more time with the crusaders as they are at basically their prime.
