One of the best Watch it Played series you have ever done, and that is saying a lot. Great back and forth between you two. This game looks incredible. My copy should be arriving tomorrow. Can't wait to play. Thanks, guys!
Skill 7. With your toolkit, characters, and hearts you are guaranteed the seven. Roll a 3 and you can spend just 1 heart and still have enough for a camp. Roll a 4 and you won't need to use any hearts at all. Rolling 5 you can still spare a heart to get a skill 9 for the bonus and rolling 6 would get you skill 9 and keep all your hearts.
Go for skill 7. You have enough insurance, thanks to Pep's Gecko friend. "You struggle to uncover the statue. The ground is brick hard, and sweat glistens on your face. After what seems an eternity, you are able to pull the statue from the dirt and carry it to a nearby town, where a mysterious mystic shrouded in shadow whispers from a doorway to come in." Speaking of Pep, no one will trust his dice rolls anymore :D
Do the skill 5 (contrary to everyone's advice). If you roll well, you can pick up the bonus for a much better reward. Additionally, you have a much better chance to keeping some of your hearts so you can erect a camp afterwards.
Rodney! Commenting on an old game play video but I just wanted to say how much I used to enjoy these playthroughs. I just reacquired Near and Far so wanted a refresher. Just love the chemistry between you two and Pep is an absolute hoot! How’s he doing anyway? Thanks Rodney. So appreciate your videos especially the old playthroughs. (I appreciate the how to plays too!) Mark
Thanks so much Mark - these were fun to do, and it's nice to see them being enjoyed. I find my shooting schedule keeps me pretty busy with tutorials (which I love making), and doesn't require coordinating with other people's schedules, but the game plays are an important part of the history of the channel!
@@WatchItPlayed The playthroughs sure are an important history of the channel. I still fondly remember watching you, Luke, and your daughter (apologies I forget her name) playing games together. That was so much fun to watch. I hope they’re all doing well. Thanks for everything you do, Rodney. You’re my absolute favourite PEIer! Lol. I’m from Alberta I don’t know too many PEI’ers but the sentiment still stands! 😀 Cheers.
No one makes a statue that terrifying... it must be a person... take it to the mystic! it is the only right thing to do. =o) Love when you guys have to read, you add so much character to the story... and the names... you have to name all the characters... loved that in Above and Below!
Go for 7... no guts, no glory. As a side note, would you mind commenting on your view of "Near and Far" as a light alternative to traditional role playing games such as "Dungeons and Dragons"? My son is a big D&D fan, but finding time/energy to carry on a campaign is at a premium in our household, plus burdening one player with gamemaster tasks always seems to upset the balance of our collective experience and enjoyment. Thanks!
On the upside, even when we do a quest, you're only seeing one half of the options, and you will mostly likely have your quest tokens on different spots anyway :)
I'm pretty sure Sure should do skill 7. But Sure should be sure that's what he wants to do. If he's unsure, then he wouldn't be sure, but I guess he would still be Sure. But I'm not Sure, so sure, do what you want.
Definitely pursue the Mystic with Skill 7. Note, this assumes you can recruit Luke to roll the die for you. Otherwise, skill 5 and be prepared not to camp.
Skill 7, drop below 3 hearts if you need to to make it, spend one heart if that will give you the bonus, but don't drop below 3 hearts to get the bonus. Erect a camp if you can afford to at the end of the round.
As the dog goes to sniff the ground Luke says "what is it boy?" There in the ground was a frozen statue. Luke remembers the time he was once frozen in statue form. He also remembers what happened when his now friend took him to the mystic. He and his friend separated shortly after vowing to see each other again at the saloon. However Sure came over and gave him an offer far to tempting. He had to stand up his friend. He wasn't sure if the statue in the ground was a person or just a statue or not. He turns to Sure and says "We surely must take this statue to the mystic sure!" Sure agreed and surely enough they went about uncovering this body to take it to the mystic who is known for being found by the shore.
Rodney, When are you planning your next Indiegogo/KS campaign for the next season? I thought your last one only funded through June 2017...maybe I misread it. Thanks.
You are right, it funded us up to June 2017, so the next one will be due soon (been a busy period, but working on it to release either in June or early July).
Rodney do a Skill 5 test, I want you to focus on placing camps on that spot. If you have enough hearts after the skill 5 test, spend it to get a better reward but don't spend the heart if this extra reward, would result you being unable to place a camp. I had seem in the forum, how a big move can happen if you fail to close the threats that are placed relative close to the town. Follow this extra rule: to reduce the abuse of the encounter threats, the player cannot cross the same path 3 times or more in a single turn.
Question: Noticed Pep had placed his faction token in his backpack and this counted toward his discount at the Saloon. In your teach of the game you showed faction token off to side with inactive party members counting toward discount. Does it still count when in your pack? How does your extra faction tokens get placed outside of pack or does this matter? Thanks!
In the How to Play I just separated them to make it easier to see. As it relates to things in your possession, you really can place them anywhere in your area - on your board off of it, etc (only part members have to be clearly on your board or off it for the purposes of being active or inactive).
Thanks for the clarification! It seemed to make sense after getting in there and playing the first time. We opted to skip the intro game and go straight to campaign as we got a good feel from your videos on the 'how to's'. Really enjoying it so far!
That's tough to say. Each person will have their own level of what is easy or complicated. We do have a full tutorial here, if you find that helpful: ruclips.net/video/nFiNJ07cgnA/видео.html

Thanks for the very kind words David :)

No Doubt. Skill 7. It's Mystic time!
yeah, this statue seems like a person ensorcelled. I'm not in favor of getting involved in the slave trade.
I just love you used the word ensorcelled.

I've never clicked on a video this fast on my entire life! 😸
Happy to have you on the adventure with us!
I can't believe for how complex the rules explanation made it seem, the game turns fly by and seem very simple. Cool game!
Sometimes rules have a lot to absorb up front, but once you get going, it's more straight forward. Thanks for checking it out!

I think Pep missed naming one, he'll likely correct that next episode :)

Skill 7. Adventures are already magical and now they will become mystical.
I like the audience interaction, neat idea. This was worth spoiling for myself, now I'm even more excited to get into these adventures!
On the upside, even when we do a quest, you're only seeing one half of the options, and you will mostly likely have your quest tokens on different spots anyway :)
Watch It Played Yup! Well worth the look at the book to get a decent look at the gameplay. 👍

Sure is surely sure that skill 7 is a sure-way to succeed which will surely set up Sure for even greater adventures. I'm sure of it, and so is Sure.
Awesome to see you guy's playing this. Hopefully my copy will be in sometime this week. Can't wait to see the outcome, good luck to both.
Sounds like copies are arriving to people, shouldn't be long now!
I wish I had backed this.
I adore Above and Below & Islebound.
Great video once again! You guys really make watching a runthrough entertaining.
I can't wait to play this
Glad you're enjoying Amilcar :)

I absolutely love that you said orthogonally adjacent :)
+Elizabeth Giebler Gaming has taught me
some fun phrases :)
Cancelled my preorder to save a bit of money, but your gameplay is making me have major regrets! Looking forward to seeing more. :)
More on the way! :)
Looks like you're having a great time! live on the edge, do the 7 skill check
This game is gorgeous. My lord.
Ryan is quite a talent!

Thanks, I definitely want to give this game a try
You're very welcome!
definitely skill 7 check
Skill 7 is probably going to end better.
Looks like I'm outvoted, but I'd say 5 then set up the camp.
