for the price of the MAX you can buy the normal one + an even better speaker ( the only reasons left would be size and the camera and even the camera is debatable as there's other cams compatible with Nest hardware )

We have the Max in our living room and a standard hub in our bedroom. The max also has a security camera feature when we are away from home it will tell us if there is motion in the house. Great feature.

Great comparison, I have both. I got the first one for Christmas last year. And this one just appeared on my desk at my home one day. So some one still loves me. lol. I find that it does things better because of the camera . The security part is perfect, and video calling i like. The hand motion is my fav. new thing. turns off and on, and gives me reminders each morning of my days activities. Thanks for the review Josh.

I have a very specific question about the Nest Hub Max regarding watching content; If I'm watching a RUclips video (or any other type of content) and I pause it then leave the room (or just ignore it) for a long period of time, when I come back the the Hub, can I continue where I left off? Is my content still paused and ready to play?
The thing that really infuriates me about my current assistant (Amazon Echo Show 8) is that no matter what your settings are, if you pause anything for more than 10 minutes, it returns to the home screen, and you have to go searching for the content you were previously watching. INFURIATING!

    One question :
How near - or far - would be an optimal distance for using,

As far as "Facial Recognition", or the "Hand Gesture" Starting and Stopping, Per Say, goes.
Thanks Again Josh, and Have a Great Saturday 🌞,

PS, Sorry, I may be repeating myself, but this is something that may unique to "me alone",
and for that reason it IS important to me.
Would I be able to View, and Hear "all my", "Non Subscription", You Tube Playlists on, Either of These Devices ? (as I do with my Google Home, and Google Mini, Via Bluetooth).
Especially my Large Music Library ?!
Or Would a "Subscription" be required ? (which "would" be a deal breaker for me 😕 !).

      @6MonthsLater  5 лет назад +1

Thank you Janelee and great question. I should have put that info in the video. A few inches away up to 3 feet away from the display seems to be the optimal range for the hand gesture feature.
The facial recognition however, works much farther away. The device has quite a wide field of view, so if you can see the camera, it’ll likely recognize your face.
Your RUclips playlists should also be available on here exactly as they are available on your existing Google Home speakers.
As always, thanks for watching! 😁

Another thing is it displays pictures but it doesn't tell you how it does it it does it by face recognition so I picked my girlfriend which I have a thousand pictures of her and it only played about 50 over and over and over and over with no way I found to change it there are other things about the max maybe if it cost $120 it would be worth it but I took mine back it's definitely not worth 230

Dave Robinson they more so shine if you have a lot of smart devices in your home. Let’s say you’re doing dishes and you have a hub in your kitchen. Someone rings your smart doorbell, and that persons face pops up on the display. You can talk to them right there. Let’s say it’s a friend or neighbor, you can then ask the hub to unlock your front door and tell them to let themselves in has you dry off your hands. It’s a convenience thing obviously. Of course you can just go to the front door like you’ve been doing, but this gives you more convenience.

What else could possibly be added?
    Great share by the way!

You missed the biggest feature in the nest hub that the max doesn’t have. Infrared sleep scanning.

The Nest Hub shown in this video is the first generation Nest Hub, the second gen with sleep tracking hadn't come out yet when we put this one together. We'll have to do an updated video!

So it's just an over priced Bluetooth tablet with a speaker that doesn't surf the web.

You could have spoken a tad faster. This Nest Hub Max is like an iPad with a big stereo speakers. It is only good if you don't need a keyboard. But normally, I would just use my laptop because there are too many things that only can be searched via a keyboard.
