It is. The point is to die in a hand to hand fight. Either against one or many, against man or demon, no matter what the slayer has faced before. Although it will be considored dishonerable is a slayer that has killed deamons and dragons be killed by a single goblin. I deppends on the point of view and the type of fight.

Gotrek from the "Gotrek and Felix " novels states that one must have a worthy doom such as if you kill a Demon, being killed by a goblin is a no go. Yet there was a confrontation about this with another slayer named Rodi - he said that a doom is a doom. Basically it does not matter who kills you, it just has to be in a fight.
@Jarl William The falling slayer in the lava pit is from Oathbreaker. But I remember also in Oathbreaker a dwarf that loses a family hammer then fights some beast and dies. He fights it in a slayer manner because of the hammer but he did not take the slayer oath. Basically he thought that he might as well fight and die since he lost the hammer. But I do not remember a recovery of the said hammer. Maybe that's in Ancestral Honour since I don't remember reading about a spirit of vengeance.

Sadly this is addressed by the example of Gotrek Gurnnison whom has done countless heroic deeds including saving Kings and preventing catastrophe, but still must meet his doom to regain his honor
There was an example when ungrims son took the oath in an effort to preempt his father's oath and so died fulfilling the ancient oath of the first slayer king, ungrim proceeded in his grief and sadness took the oath for feeling shame that his son died for him and made his sons sacrifice for not
The idea of a honorable death is also prevalent in MechWarrior/BattleTech. In the CCG there was a card for the Liao faction where someone (usually a commander) would basically sacrifice himself to make up for a defeat of his command. Not entirely sure but i think it was called a "Last Stand".

For Kuritans, that was not the case, it was their honor to fight to the death, but they chose seppuku on their own out of shame if they survived instead of seeking death on the battlefield. Whole thing is quite complex, but it especially has to do with the waning mental health of the Chancellor during the Third Succession War and the change from Maximilian Liao to Romano Liao who was even more insane and vicious, punishing anyone for any minor infraction or percieved disloyalty, whether real or just her imagination. Under such a ruler, a death on the battlefield at least meant one´s family would be spared the punishment.

Yes those factions will be awesome also can't wait for Ogre Kingdoms . But i think the 4 base factions for game 3 will probably be armies of the 4 chaos gods.

@@isaacalves97 No not necessarily they could play completely differently. IMO CA had 3 Options for the starting factions for game three. Option 1: 4 unique factions from the followers of each chaos god. Option 2: Darklands= Ogre Kingdoms, Chaos Dwarfs, Kislev, Daemons of Chaos and maybe Cathay or the Hobgoblins. Option 3: Eastern Kingdoms= Cathay, Nippon, Tigermen and Ind. Looking at it now options 2 is far more likely not sure if option 1 would sell well because of the heavy chaos influence! Also option 3 is very unlikely give that theres not alot of lore on the eastern kingdoms or army books.
Gotrek wields one of Grimnirs axes if that gives you a clue to their power of weapons and Gotrek is one bad ass boy. He kills whatever's in front of him and the gods keep him and his closest friend alive because the doom isn't worthy enough, they have literally added near 80 year's of life to Felix just so he can witness Gotreks doom. So that level of kill stick if they make it that far,god killing weapons.
@@PetrucciIbiza I believe they point I was trying to make a bit poorly, was by the time they have reached that low in their career they are wielding a weapon that they are most proficient at. So one may use two short swords, another a two handed hammer or pick, while another is using explosives while flying a helicopter " yes it's a thing" whatever they are best at killing with but all of them are using weapons of extreme power. Normal weapons can't affect higher demons or dragons or shoggoth whatever they are going after. That's fluff, on the table big axes or hammers whith runes for killing one or two handed dual wielded.
