I think it could be an older movement that casio later upgraded because I can't see/find another signs that would indicate it's a fake watch. Remember casio has been making these GA 100's since 2010.

They’re also a great motorcycle piece (I wrecked a Breitling coming off a bike) and for any time you’re likely to cause damage. Although I still see them as throwaways I change the batteries every 3 years and the two I have now are 9 and 7 years old respectively. In the end I returned it and bought it again from Amazon (first time around was from an external seller). So yeah, I learned my lesson. If the price tag is too good to be true, there you go...
@BIG CHUNGUS well that's because you bought it from Japan, if you buy from any other countries only the highest end g shocks say casio japan, others say casio thailand or china

Looks like the easiest tell, just looking at the face of the watch is where the hands attach to the movement. It is much smaller on the fake and almost extends to the edges of the hands on the real ones. You can really tell when all three are held side by side at 7:49. Pause the video and have a look.

I recently encountered a fake Casio A168 from eBay that claimed it was the proper article. There was all sorts of problems; indistinct day and date, awful LCD segments, inconsistent gaps on the bracelet, and came on a simple card without a box, genuine manual, or warranty papers. Got fully refunded and managed to acquire a proper one from a known watch dealer. Made me laugh though, because why the hell fake a Casio that was that bloody cheap in the first place??
Yes, they will fake anything it seems! They even fake the classic F-91W which is only about £7 for a genuine one! Madness... But people buy them not knowing I suppose, until they realise it looses a few minutes a month!
@@sparkie21 Yeah I've seen plenty of those. The thing about these people counterfeiting merchandise, it may be a cheap watch, we can pick up the F-91W for around $10 or a little less in the US. But they aren't selling just one watch. They're selling tens of thousands of them. If you're spending all of $2 to have a watch built in basically what amounts to a sweatshop for electronics, and you advertise it for $6, there's a lot of profit to be made over the long haul... Because who doesn't want a $10 iconic watch for $6? If you're only going to make a few, then why bother? But, if you're going to make many thousands, then why not? But, it doesn't cost you any more to make the 168 than it does the 91. You can manufacture any middle of the road watch for $2. Now ramp that up again and start making G-Shocks. They cost a little more to make though... Let's just say $8-$10 each. Ok, let's go with $10 lol. Doesn't matter because there's still tons of profit to be made. Lots of people have had their eyes on that $180 G-Shock that does everything but give head, and you're in just the position to sell it to them. For the steeply discounted price of... $70. Has anyone seen a ga100-1a buckle in matte finish , rather than glossy finish ? I bought one with this , everything seems perfect , I'm just wondering as I've only had glossy finished gshock buckles . It states Casio Thailand , and has a slight tint of grey . Is that how ga100-1a buckles are ?
Yep. I've seen that rumor all over the webz about not being made in Japan. Pure fiction. Casio manufactures their entire product line all over East and Southeast Asia. From what I can gather, it seems that certain factories manufacture watches that are to be shipped to and sold in certain regions. But yes, looking at the underside of the buckle in no way distinguishes a genuine product from a fake. The best way to tell is by using a specific key sequence to alter the display. Some are ABC sequence, and some are ABD sequence. When you press the appropriate sequence simultaneously, the whole digital displays shows all segments lit up. Then, depending on whether yours used the C or the D key, after you releases all buttons and while the screen still has all segments lit, press the key that yours used up to three times. What shows up next is the three or four digit module number. You'll need your instruction manual for the next step because sometimes Casio will build the same watch with multiple different module numbers, all of which will be listed on the front page of your instruction manual. For example: I have a Casio AE-1200, module 3299. My sequence is to press ABD simultaneously. After the display is showing all segments lit, I release all three keys and then press the D key three times. The display now reads 3198. But my watch has module 3299, which is obviously wrong. On the cover of my manual, right across the top in bold print, it says "Module No. 3198 3299", which means that Casio used two different modules in this model. As long as you get that three or four digit code, and it matches one of the numbers on your manual, you're good. I have six different Casio model numbers, starting with the most spartan of their digital line, the F-91W, all going all the way up to and including Twin Sensor and G-Shock models. This multiple simultaneous button press method works to confirm on all of their models, and so far, none of the fakes are capable of doing this. My G-Shock DW5600 uses ABC, module 3229. It shows up on the display, battery cover and on the manual, so it's guaranteed authentic.
just bought mine at 10 GBP below the average price... looked OK at first but main signs of fake, except of here mentioned were: lack of original box, lack of barcodes with model designation, time on analogue and digital not synchronised, user guide for completely different models, no fluorescent indexes and many more.

Yes, don't know what they did though, the seller is still on Amazon with feedback from other buyers of fake watches, however they currently have nothing on their storefront.
As of now, the link doesn't go anywhere, so Amazon most likely terminated the account. No big deal to them. They've probably got dozens of inactive accounts just waiting to be fired up so they can continue business as usual.
I know people want fake watches like rolex or tag heuer. I have no problem as long as it's reveled in the ad. However, their are trademark and patent laws that prohibit copies. But I think companies should take advantage of them. It's almost like an advertisement. Wear a fake, you like it, you hit it big , then buy the real thing. Thank you for posting, i would of never imagined fake Casios. You can get a real one for under a $100. I'm in the process of selling the last four in my collection, some sell fast, my g -shocks didn't sell yet, maybe this is why.
Very interesting thanks. I ordered one and it stopped working after a month, it was one that was "self-winding". I sent it back to the factory, and they said it had been overwound?

I do have a genuine G-shock bought at watch store, It's really reliable, I have it for 5 years so far and I use it daily, and the only things are that is the battery is being changed and the writings on the outer side are fading. I think that they're made to last forever.
Hi, thanks for the video. I wanted to know what your illumination looks like? I have the GA-100MC-1A4ER (military cloth strap) and only half the numeral indices light up (top half). This watch was long discontinued and I bought new old stock. I wanted to ensure it's functioning properly or perhaps the battery already needs replacement?
Buy fake G-Shock for a minimal price but wouldn't last that long. I've got 3 genuine now, I bought my first back in 2006 and up until now, all of them are working properly. The one I bought back in 2011, only needs battery replacement but it's still working fine.
Yes, it did work, but at more angles than the genuine one. Like the genuine one auto light only works when you go from upward facing to forward facing, The fake would do it even when slanted sideways!
I was planning on buying one from USA all the way to Costa Rica. Getting a fake and doing the refund process would be such a pain in the ass that honestly I'd rather just go to a store and pay more.
I had to check mine after watching this, thanks, mine is genuine, but you are incorrect about Casio Japan being on the strap buckle. The one thing I do not like is the date/month is in American format, the month is first then the date
I got a fake off ebay yesterday. The fakes are also lighter and the face branding is stuck on. Lots off little differences. Worryingly an official dealer I showed it to thought it was genuine.....
If you're buying off Amazon for $100, $30 off the original price, you think you're saving $30 but you're wasting $80 on a fake watch only worth $20 in hardware.
G shock is the most bang on the buck watch compares to most of the Swiss made watches. Not wanting to pay full price to Casio just shows you are a cheap skank, nothing more.
I got a real one. Geez thanks man. I didn knew. Although I bought it 2 years ago and I do not wear it that often cuz I use the citizen (eco-drive) my GA-100 still works just fine. It even went through the winter
You can save 20% on some watches by buying them on Amazon instead of buying directly from the manufacturer. I was thinking of doing it, but now this video has me nervous. I’m probably better off paying more money for the piece of mind.
Easiest way is a hammer test, original ones usually last for 3-4 wack depends on how strong you are, fake once get destroyed the first one if it pass the first wack then your muscles are fake.Their you go,thank me later🙂
Technically, when you purchased from Amazon, you're buying from a "reseller," a third party retailer somewhere in the world... they might not even know if they're reselling fakes... Best to always buy from an Authorized Casio dealer!
i bought on on ebay for 90$ soon as i got it i realized it was a fake because a friend alreay owns a couple so i made the seller give a refund and i got to keep the fake watch. very good looking and te box comes with all the paperwork kind of look like they use an origial box to sell a fake watch.

thanks for the insight, did you get your money back?
Sure did, thanks!
I assume you reported it to Amazon and got you money back? They usually are very interested to hear about it if there is fake anything!
Why do not open the back cover of the watch to check the Modul No.?
I know people want fake watches like rolex or tag heuer. I have no problem as long as it's reveled in the ad. However, their are trademark and patent laws that prohibit copies. But I think companies should take advantage of them. It's almost like an advertisement. Wear a fake, you like it, you hit it big , then buy the real thing. Thank you for posting, i would of never imagined fake Casios. You can get a real one for under a $100. I'm in the process of selling the last four in my collection, some sell fast, my g -shocks didn't sell yet, maybe this is why.
where are the fakes coming from. i just bought a ga100c 8acr from walmart online. waiting for it to arrive.
Do you think that the solar watches are fake too?
Thank you very much for letting us now !
Very interesting thanks. I ordered one and it stopped working after a month, it was one that was "self-winding". I sent it back to the factory, and they said it had been overwound?
Really? I got a couple of automatic Seiko's, been really good!
@@sparkie21 hi I found this one, it's very nice colour and I was thinking of getting it until I saw your video, but here's the link to the amazon page, I just want to be sure from you that it's ok to buy this one Casio G-Shock Mens Analogue-Digital Watch www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B079ZD17DK/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_glt_fabc_VRXMHCCNMQW5H9A98Z99
Thank you for this. I was wondering why my watch was so stiff and difficult to change the time on.
I got one from eBay that does the long way around when doing the 5 minute test. Does it confirm that it’s fake?
Filip Barzut if it only ever goes forwards, yes.
@@sparkie21Thanks man. I should have known paying £45 for it off eBay
I do have a genuine G-shock bought at watch store, It's really reliable, I have it for 5 years so far and I use it daily, and the only things are that is the battery is being changed and the writings on the outer side are fading. I think that they're made to last forever.
Thanks for these videos. THERE is a difference between fake Casios and homage Casio watches.
Homage? Why bother their cheap as anyway!
great vid did you send it back ?
Thanks, yes I sent it back.
The forward only movement always gives it away 😆
My watch came out of the tin with no manual. At that point it was just a bracelet. Thanks for the help!
My digital numbers are really dark. i can barley see them numbers at all. Is it suppose to be like that. Your digital numbers are lot brighter.
Hi, thanks for the video. I wanted to know what your illumination looks like? I have the GA-100MC-1A4ER (military cloth strap) and only half the numeral indices light up (top half). This watch was long discontinued and I bought new old stock. I wanted to ensure it's functioning properly or perhaps the battery already needs replacement?
yep battery needs replacing mine was doing same thing replaced the battery and now works fine
@@mattdodds4409 Thanks a lot. I figured as much but appreciate you reinforcing my thought!
mine has made in japan on the clasp snd its from a jewellers
Did it come in a g-shock tin?
The screenshot link cannot be found on the server!
Wish there was a serial number database to check authentic
When I bought mine I registered it online no problems
did you return it ???
Buy fake G-Shock for a minimal price but wouldn't last that long. I've got 3 genuine now, I bought my first back in 2006 and up until now, all of them are working properly. The one I bought back in 2011, only needs battery replacement but it's still working fine.
did you check if auto light work in fake too ?
Yes, it did work, but at more angles than the genuine one. Like the genuine one auto light only works when you go from upward facing to forward facing, The fake would do it even when slanted sideways!
Did you get a refund from Amazon and did you then buy a genuine watch from somewhere else ?
I was planning on buying one from USA all the way to Costa Rica. Getting a fake and doing the refund process would be such a pain in the ass that honestly I'd rather just go to a store and pay more.
Tap the watch and then you find a way back to the future :)))
Hey guy GA-200BW how to set up Washington Seattle time?
I had to check mine after watching this, thanks, mine is genuine, but you are incorrect about Casio Japan being on the strap buckle. The one thing I do not like is the date/month is in American format, the month is first then the date
I got a fake off ebay yesterday. The fakes are also lighter and the face branding is stuck on. Lots off little differences. Worryingly an official dealer I showed it to thought it was genuine.....
Casio has two factories in Japan as well as Thailand. Why dont you call Casio with your concerns.
Maybe they are not fake. But possibly seconds. Either way the “fake “ seems alright to me as long as your not paying Casio full price.
Very helpful, thanks! I received a fake via eBay today, a little easier to spot as the centre top dial was glued down and unable to move!
What you thing about Happy Trade seller ?
Does anyone eyls notices the real G shock watch strap making a G 😲
Anyone "Else" notice you can't spell?
just glad to find out my dad's g shock is real
If it say Malaysia its ok or its fake ???
For 10 bucks it works good enough for me and mine hasn’t lost any time for over 8 months I guess I got 🍀 lucky
Another give away is that the fake G-Shock might not have the motion gesture light on and off like the genuine one
Actually, g shocks could either be made in China or Thailand or Japan
Easiest way is a hammer test, original ones usually last for 3-4 wack depends on how strong you are, fake once get destroyed the first one if it pass the first wack then your muscles are fake.Their you go,thank me later🙂
I was hoping you would also bump the genuine ones :D. Just to put it out there.
GUnit2214 Hehe, trust me the genuine one has been bashed all over the place and never budged!
Not wondering why g-shock from amazon much more cheaper than the price on g-shock official website . You pay for what you got !
WHAT! I got mine from amazon!
The screen's turned off a couple of times while I was wearing it
Technically, when you purchased from Amazon, you're buying from a "reseller," a third party retailer somewhere in the world... they might not even know if they're reselling fakes...
Today i have returned g shock watch and got exact fake one...i have returned it...amazon is not trusted ...actually u can purchase from it where it says"fullfiled by amazon" hope it will be original
Compass option is there are not?
I don’t think so, but neither has the genuine one?
Why would you buy a watch froma seller with zero positive feedback and nothing but negative comments???
I didn’t look, it was just Amazon prime delivery so didn’t suspect it!
@@sparkie21 I always look at ratings, Comments and also Look up the seller in detail before I make any watch purchases over $100
Who is making these fake ones?
Does the ga100 have auto light?
Hi, yes it does but the fake one is not as good as the genuine one!
M0UKD
Is there a setting or something? Because mine doesn't do it.
thanx for the heads up..buying mine from argos.. cheers..
Great video, i have a genuine camo dial and really love it, big watch but i guess that is the point, awesome
My thing says Casio Vietnam is it fake or real
Jam S oh, nice! I got lucky! Well i bought mine from Thailand.
mine says casio china
TheMagache yours is genuine too then!
That's a dam good fake. I've got a box of all different fake models from over the years and they're super obvious. Usually they just donr have the "casio" name on them, or no model number
Difficult to know if you are buying online. Especially if you can't even trust Amazon.
