    Hey my friend here you helping us again your awesome man I ordered the mishimoto intercooler pipes for 01 lb7 with out knowing that I need this boot as well i just order this boot did you think I will work good with the mishimoto pipes thanks in advance man 🤝

      Hello brotha! Yes, absolutely that boot will work on the mishimoto pipes. They are the same design as the pipes I put on my truck, made for the 2002+ lb7 duramax. The 2001 was the only year that had the short y pipe, thus requiring the special boot. Congrats on the intercooler pipe upgrade, it makes a difference for sure!

    Where did you get the Bottom Boot for the cold side tube? I found the top boot but I need that angled boot for the bottom.

    • @KooshdaakaaGarage
      @KooshdaakaaGarage  3 года назад

      Thanks for the question Matt. For the bottom cold side boot, I used the one supplied with the intercooler pipe kit. You might check K.B.Diesel to see if they have what you are looking for. I use their boots on the top end for both the hot & cold side. Found both of them on Amazon.

      @@holdenporter6162 They are a beast man I tell ya. I used the supplied cold and hot side bottom boots that came with the RDP pipes. I only replaced the top boots with KB boots. The new bellowed boot that came with the RDP on the top hot side was just too stiff for me to get the pipe close enough to the turbo to clear the hydroboost cylinder and because I have an 01 that has a different Y bridge than the 02 on up I had to get the special KB boot. The bottom boots are still pretty stiff but if you use a little lubricant it will help. Just make sure to tighten the clamps as much as you can so they don't blow off. It's a beast but doable. You got this!

    Don’t use PB blaster ever on tubes that will be holding boost or any lubricant use hair spray next time it will help you slide it on and let it sit for a few hours when done when it drys it will create a rack between boots and pipes

      Lol, yeah that occurred to me after making this video. Thank you for passing the word on 🙏 I've seen people use windex too and that seemed to do the trick. Luckily I haven't had issues blowing boots off since this video but I also keep it on a tow haul tune and rarely get into the pedal. Thanks again and cheers 🍻

      Not for this install. But a tune will make use of the extra flow.

    Does the hot side inter cooler pipe only install one way? I have had this pipe kit since January and the hot side piping is constantly making contact with the brake booster. I’m afraid of a pin hole developing if it already hasn’t. Let me know if you’ve noticed anything around that first bend on the hot side. Been considering getting an HSP hot side pipe

    • @KooshdaakaaGarage

      I had this issue too at first. Some people cut the boot between the turbo and intercooler pipe down a little to make it fit better. I picked up a KB Diesel boot which fit a little better, enough to clear the hydroboost cylinder at least. I've seen quite a few install of various types of intercooler pipes on these trucks and jamming it on there as far as you can seems to be the tried and true method. You can do it man!

    What brand did you buy? I got the HSP Kit and I have the same problem with clearing the Hydro Boost as well as the Steering shaft. I have maybe 3\16" clearance between the two. However the pipe they sent me is not the same shape as yours. Its a straight pipe from the lowest bend down the the intercooler. I trimmed the top side boot but that just made it even closer to the Steering shaft. They gave me a longer lower boot in an attempt to swing it out and away from the steering shaft but that just made it worse. Now they are telling me that I need to have the steering shaft adjusted to it rotates more true but I dont think that is a permanent fix and the fact that the clearance is so tight makes me doubt it. If I can get the pipe shaped like yours (closer to OEM shape) I think I'll be good.

    • @KooshdaakaaGarage
      @KooshdaakaaGarage  3 года назад

      Ah man, sorry to hear about the HSP pipes. I really like their kits for flow design and style. It seems pipe fitment on the hot side is an issue for quite a few of us. the set I picked up is made by RDP, there is a link in the description if you want to check it out. I think Mishimoto makes almost if not the same version as this one. One thing that really helped was swapping out the top boot on the hot side for one made by KBDiesel. I have a video of the new boot and how it fits if you want to see it for yourself. ruclips.net/video/TnBfal2f328/видео.html What helped here was spraying some lube in the boot prior to installation then giving it hell with as much force as I could muster to get it to sink back as far as I could get it. Good news it that it did fit a little better. I bet you could do the same thing with your HSP pipe. the RDP pipe is designed to look exactly like OEM with the difference being that the top of the original hot side intercooler pipe is a 2 1/2" boot that transitions after the 90 degree into 3" pipe. the RDP is 3" from top to bottom. Give it hell man!

      @@KooshdaakaaGarage Thanks for the encouragement. I am pretty frustrated. I am pretty close to just cutting a section out and having a muffler shop weld it back in to a better position above the steering shaft. Either that or Buy the RDP. Thanks again!

      @KooshdaakaaGarage  3 года назад

      @@mattkilpatrick389 One last technique you probably already have tried but its worth mentioning just the same. I found it easier to install if I installed the top side first using lube and a screw driver to pull the boot over the rim. Once it was over the rim I was able to jam it on the rest of the way then secure the bottom side to the intercooler. Best of luck man, those HSP pipes have excellent flow!

      @@KooshdaakaaGarage with your pipe do you see any potential interference with the power steering hoses?

    • @KooshdaakaaGarage
      @KooshdaakaaGarage  3 года назад +1

      @@mattkilpatrick389 I just doubled checked before replying. I have about 3/4" clearance from the power steering hose next to the bottom portion of the pipe and about 2" or so clearance from the power steering hoses above the pipe that go up into the hydro-boost. Plenty of clearance from vibration. Also I angled the pipe in a way so it doesn't rub on the hard brake lines. The original OEM pipe has a divet so the pipe can rest on the brake lines. Guess which brake line blew first...
