Can anyone help me find a place to buy games, I have a gameboy advance sp and it still works perfectly but every game i find online is bootleg and can't save, i want to get pokemon for it but I can't find real copies anywhere, or read the japanese ones. Also great video!!
Thank you very much, i'll pin your comment, maybe someone can help ;)
Dkoldies sells legit retro games but you'll be paying a markup for it, if that's not an issue you can't go wrong there. And what issue are you having with saves? A few games I own are bootleg and save just fine.
Unless you just *really* want the cartridge, you're better off doing a flash cart like the EZ Flash Omega.
@@f937r same thinking
As far as authentic copies go, Ebay is still a great place to find them, but you need to know what to look for. There are many ways to identify authentic carts, which you can find online, but I find the easiest and best way to tell is whether or not the front of the carts is stamped. Authentic carts have a production number stamped on the right side of the label that I have not found in any reproduction carts. This helps provide security that, yes, you are buying an authentic copy.
Game prices are a bit high these days, but you can find many used GBA games in working condition for 10-40 dollars, with the more sought after prices such as Metroid, Zelda, and Pokemon going anywhere from 50-150 dollars.
Don't be afraid to shop around to find the best deals, and many sellers will offer you discounts if you show interest by watching products or simply send them a message asking if the can negotiate.
Great Video. I still love my old GBA [AGS-101] especially because it comfortably fits in my jeans pocket. Just a shame i get cramps when i play for longer than 30 minutes on it because of my slightly bigger hands :/
This is exactly why I want the Gameboy Advance. I have an SNES and I miss it when I go on road trips and wanted to play retro games on the go. When you said it's basically a portable SNES, I was hooked. Thank you so much!
I'm glad you enjoyed it
I still play my snes. It's so fun. What a great piece of art

To answer your title for this video. Same reason we all buy one…Haha. It’s a great system! I’ve been collecting for it for years. Not a good time to get into retro gaming though. All the great games, and gba models are going up more and more. Love the modded screen, just did the same thing to my gbc.
Thank you. I get most of my games from the flea market nowadays, prices are a lot more reasonable there.
@@reviewrattlesnake I will definitely start checking. Thanks bud.
I just bought a Japanese GBA and I didn’t know it can play any region of gameboy games. I had the US one when I was little in the 2000s and I’ll honestly keep it original when it comes to the light it never bothered me
The shell with green buttons is so cool 👍
Thank you ^^ I like it too.
I was given a Frankenstein GBA on a swap meet years ago and I found it a week ago and I went ahead and modded. Now is great if it was released like that it could have been the greatest portable console of all time.
GBA was a time where quality was valued more than money. Games used to cost mere 30$ and they didn't have stupid game pass or other bull. The games were inventive, fun and often pretty unique
You aren't wrong, but at the same time there were still blatant cashgrabs going around. For the most part it was fine, but then you have all the low-quality ports of things like crazy taxi and GTA, plus the weird spinoff shovelware games like that bad pirates of the carribean game or medal of honor: underground ported to the GBA in what's basically doom but unplayable.
@@lightshadow3683 the crazy taxi port was everything but cheaply made, wtf💀 It was made for the wrong console, but it was still the highest quality you can expect out of a gba, and GTA Advance was a great gta, you probably never played it, I played every mission of it
As a collector, I have an IPS modded GB Advance as well, but I have to admit: I don't like playing on it because the best way by far to play GBA games is the PS Vita. The screen is so much bigger, very vibrant and also the form factor of the device and the control pad are much more comfortable. Plus, playing GB/ GBC games on the GBA is horrible, the screen is extremely small then. On the Vita GB/GBC are looking very good and with comparable screen size than on a GB Pocket. For me the PS Vita is still the best allrounder in terms of portable retro gaming because of its outstanding screen and form factor.
Thanks for the comment, as a matter of fact I wanted to get a Vita next month for a video. I'm however hesitant because of the very expensive proprietary sd cards...
@@reviewrattlesnake You don't need these proprietary SD cards. You can get an SD2Vita Adapter für a couple of bucks and use a normal micro SD card.
@@Thunderbird1337 Will those only work on a jailbroken Vita?
@@reviewrattlesnake Yes, only working with Jailbreak.
We have the same vibes cause im also getting one 👀
@amv bro Not the same feeling 😂
Hello can you send a link of where you purchased your handheld
I just got one with v2 screen had one when it came back 🎉
I have a 3DS, and in my opinion it's the definitive way to play Game Boy/GBC/GBA games, as it fixes all the problems with unmodded Game Boy Advances, plays the entire library (the good ones at least, but if you find a ROM online you can use NSUI to turn it into a VC) and you don't need to carry around cartridges. Game Boy games are very small, Mario Kart super Circuit being only 49 blocks or 6 megabytes and Game Boy Tetris being only 31 blocks or 4MB.
Anyone else notice in the old GBA commercials that the screen looks backlit?
I know I’m in the minority but I’m not a big fan of the GBA SP. It’s a cool piece of industrial design but it’s way too small for long play sessions and it doesn’t have a headphone jack. Those are just deal breakers for me.
Great video!
Guess this is targetted to me XD. Just bought 1 from japan for like 42...but shipping was 20... 62bucks.. wish i couldve gotten it cheaper for the modding its gonna get
And update it is complete... I wanna do 1 more but...gbas too expensive and motherboards nonexistent
I used to own a gameboy micro. I kinda wish I still had it now just because of its rarity.
Hey man, would you be interested to have a logo redesign for your youtube channel to level up your channel recognition for your current and potential new audience while searching for related content? I'm a freelance logo designer based in Malaysia and would love to have the honor to design a logo for your channel! Let me know if you interested for more details! :)
That is a very nice offer, as of right now I have no plans to redesign the logo or the channel as a whole, perhaps when I pass the 1000 subscriber threshold.
@@reviewrattlesnake i see, thats ok too, hope you make it there soon! I will be freelance logo designer only recently so if you need me or know anyone can benefit from a logo design then let me know anytime from now! Cheer man! :)
