    I've just brought a 1978 75 stinger back from the dead too. Those old OMC engines will run forever if they are used, and serviced. I love them.

    Really Instructive video, yesterday I got exactly the same motor and control box, one of the 3 cylinder no spark, the guy told me is the power pack will be easy fix, really accesible part. Thanks for share your skills man

      without testing the sensor and ignition coils might not be the pack. im not personally into throwing expensive parts at a motor and crossing my fingers. takes me 10 minutes to DVA the whole ignition to find out exactly whats wrong.

      just a tip: buy the service manual for whatever you are working on. more info than any youtube video. this is an easy carb rebuild , but alot more expertise goes into things like cylinder head replacement, and especially ignition troubleshooting.

    Can you do a video on winterizing a outboard I got a 1990 Yamaha 9.9 ld I’ll even take some advice hard to find a video on it

    • @MakeItBetter1
      @MakeItBetter1  2 года назад

      The main concerns for winter (my personal opinion) are making sure there's no water left in the passageways, running the remaining fuel out of the carburetors, and you can use a fogging oil from any auto store to lubricate/protect the internal parts.

    I recently purchased an angler with a 1977 70HP evinrude. Fired right up, are these parts for these motors easily accessible still? Is it worth going through it and keeping it

      Could be caused by a number of things... I'd start with cleaning the carburetors and making sure they are linked and synced

    Hey man I have a 1976 evinrude 70hp and its been sitting for about 2 years and I took it out on the lake it ran good at full throttle on plain and then it slows down and won't go, I have the throttle all the way down but it only is going like wake speed and continuously stays like that. If the boat sits for a bit it will do the process all over again, ever had anything like that happen? The primer bulb is soft as well it seems.

    • @MakeItBetter1
      @MakeItBetter1  2 года назад

      Sounds like you are getting air into the fuel system. Double check fuel lines, connectors, and primer bulb.

    • @MakeItBetter1
      @MakeItBetter1  2 года назад +1

      Do you not have spark on any cylinder? Start with making sure the shifter is in neutral and the safety lanyard is hooked up. After that, you'll have to work your way back from the plugs to figure out where you are losing spark.

    • @ianpetti74
      @ianpetti74 2 года назад +1

      @@MakeItBetter1 No there’s not a spark coming from any cylinder. I didn’t know there was a safety lanyard either. I’ll check it later out today. Thank you, is it okay if I get back to you later?

    • @MakeItBetter1
      @MakeItBetter1  2 года назад

      Some of the old outboards don't have a safety lanyard/ Some do. Also check the fuse, it should be near the starter solenoid
